London is bracing for another night of rioting in the streets. The Metropolitan Police force said 16,000 officers will start patrolling 24/7 and may employ the use of plastic bullets to help restore order.
The riots began Saturday after the fatal shooting of Mark Duggan, a dad of four and suspected drug dealer who was allegedly gunned down Scotland Yard. Protesters shattered shop windows, plundered stores and torched cars and buildings to the ground. So far more than 560 people have been arrested, and eruptions of violence have been reported in other cities around the U.K.
Some residents gathered in a united front against the looters, with broomsticks in hand, to sweep up the broken glass off the pavement.
