The day after the first presidential debate, President Obama tried to rally support in Denver, Colorado. He told the crowd,"If you want to be president, you owe the American people the truth." The president went on to say Mitt Romney does not want to be held accountable to what he's been saying on the campaign trail "because he knows full well that we don’t want what he’s selling." We'll have the latest from the campaign trail at 10 pm ET.

The latest version of Mitt Romney running as a Democratic candidate. In front of millions of people Romney espoused Democratic values he will uphold or enact. If POTUS was off his game it had to be surreal watching Mitt Romney (see Pinnocchio) steal his thunder. I like Obama's tactic - give Romney enough rope and let him hang himself. Mitt Romney the man who stands for nothing and falls for everything - this time taking a whole bunch of right wing, fascist tea baggers along for the fall!
Since when does Obama hold his cards close to his chest.? I just see him checking the willard out to see if he would continue on the same track of lies. He did, and Obama has it all figured out. I love to see the media falling all over themselves to try to explain what happened. Don't you know Obama is laughing up his sleeve right this moment, watching this. No one knows Obama's mind.
After last night's debate, I am now convinced that Romney actually doesn't think he is lying. He says whatever he believes will go over well at the very moment he is talking. How else would it be possible that (as an example) he lambasts people who use emergency rooms for their health care needs and then more recently flat out says that "we do have care for the uninsured - as in some states, they can use emergency rooms". There was no reason whatsoever for him to make that statement. To me, that sounds very much like a mental disorder. Not sure what it's called but I'm quite certain it is one.
If the President had played Romney's game there would have been 2 men loudly trying to put each other down. Instead there was one man trying to have a civil disagreement and one man agressively putting forth his lies. Romney showed no respect for the President or the moderator(there was a moderator, wasn't there?).
Romney admitted last night in debate that he shipped jobs overseas when Obama said we give tax breaks to companies that ship job overseas. Romney responded that not true if so I new a new accountant.
At first I was upset because our President let Mr Romney lie, lie, lie. Then I thought, what an interesting approach. Take lots of notes of all the of the most amazing contradictory rhetoric we could have ever heard and use it for the next debate or any stump speeches. Now our President can go into the next debate and say...what are your exact plans and beliefs because for months and months you've been saying this, in a private contributors lunch you said that and finally at our first debate you said this...what exactly do you stand for because the American people need you to clarify once and for all.
Interesting that NBC claims to have a "truth squad", especially as the news was just released that this network is being sued by Geeorge Zimmerman for its defamation of his character with the manipultive editing of the transcript and audio of his telephone conversation with police by NBC to make it appear he was racially targeting the trespassing youth Travon Martin in that shooting incident in Sanford, Fla this winter.
When you do not like the results call him a liar. Wow what a great comeback. Then go out on the stump where you are idolized, never challenged and resort to character assasination. The Chicago-Clinton method. You should be ashamed.
Let's face it, folks. On the face of it, the President was a disaster! Slow to respond when he should have been on the offensive. His uh-uh-uh's ate up air time. He seemed on camera to have to pull the answers from a hat. He let those of us who are working hard on his behalf down. He let the Democrats who are running in state or local elections down.
Even though Gov. Romney deliovered his comments flawlessly (and dishonetly) he looked like a leader. In retrospect, Romney seemed almost zoombie-like in his performance but the majority of the country was impressed.
Are we snatching defeat from the jaws of victory?
Come on Joe Biden...save us!
