No question about it, President Obama won this round. Pretty decisively. Romney came off as petulant and nervous. In his constant interruptions, Romney showed the same sort of inclination toward bullying that he demonstrated as a boy. The President explained his plans and ideas clearly, and he pointed out quite correctly that Romney makes lots of promises, but provides few or no specifics.
obama lookied like a stuttering idiot, are you kidding? your blind sheeple following the judas giat!
Romney doesn't even know the rules of the no child left behind act. The only fool is Romney.
Obama won. He looked Presidential. Romney had these wild-eyed expressions and looked like he was on Meth.
What debate were you watching?
Tonight, Romney unveiled his latest version upgrade...
Romney 10.0
The Democratic candidate.
He's for SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Teachers, the poor, the sick, veterans, students, seniors, Taxes for the rich, no taxes for the middle, will provide national health care, etc. etc.
WTF???
He will say anything.
Obama couldn't argue with him, there was nothing to argue about.
Seems like Romneys home state has a great health care plan, #1 schools, I live where Obama came from, its a financial mess, 44bil in the red highest taxes in the US and still hasnt balanced the budget...Obama has no business sense, has never worked in the private sector and is nothing but a career politician...
Romney, as they have said, is a great debater. The problem is that how can you debate someone who deliberately lies about everything. Romney denied every policy that he has stumped on for the past 18 months. I wonder what Ryan thought about his running mate?? While I want Obama to look "presidential", I also want him to take Romney to task on his awful plan, at least the little we know about it. And the moderator needs to be replaced by someone who can tell time and keep Romney in check. And those questions? Where were the questions about women's rights, about immigration, about the environment, about equality, about taking care of veterans and senior citizens, etc., etc. The questions tonight clearly benefitted Romney who has been rehearsing for months and months. I hope Obama hears some better advice for the next 2 debates.
I'm an Obama supporter. I will vote for Obama on Nov 6. Romney took it to Obama in tonight's debate. I'm not happy about it. Romney came out swinging and landed a couple of punches. No knock-outs. Obama played it safe. Too bad.
rdelegant, I agree.
Republicans should not jump for victory yet.
Though Romney was more energetic, he abandoned many of his previous policies.
Hence, he lied some more.
Liars do not win in Presidential debates.
Obama was careful and let Romney burry him with as much BS as he could handle.
You will see that tomorrow.
Obama held back for a reason.
I agree. The media has been whining that this campaign has not been substantive and yet they want to give the debate to Romney who acted lke a bully, gave no specifics and did way more flipping and flopping on his positions than usual. The President communicated his positions, they have not changed and he chose not to get agressive or be rude. I appreciated that.
How does a decent, principle man like Obama debate with a man who denies most of the positions he held just yesterday. Not only did Romney tell lie after lie, but he did it with conviction and with no hint of guilt or embarrassment. Will the real Romney please stand up. Electing him is like buying a child's grab bag, you never know what the suprise will be....war with Iran?
I'm voting for Obama in November, no doubt about it, but Romney won...at least as far as it's possible to win a debate.
And Romney won, primarily, because he was more aggressive and Obama didn't call him out on his bull@!$%# or his past comments. Period.
And Romney made plenty of mistakes which will come back to haunt him in the coming weeks.
The VP debate is going to be very interesting.
@Smith Cassidy- You are so spot on!
They both nailed the smiles!
No question about it, President Obama won this round. Quite decisively. Romney came off as petulant and nervous, and he was annoying with his interruptions of both the President and moderator Lehrer. The President offered clear explanations of his programs and plans, and pointed out quite forcefully that Romney makes lots of promises, but provides few--if any--specifics to back up those promises.
What about Obama's promises four years ago. HE nailed it. Guess who?
You are parroting Romney. What promises did the President not keep?
Hey Jeff Pierce...what debate were u watching. Romney kick your boys ass, period. Nobama more or less admitted that the past 4 years are behind us so lets move on to the next 4 years, a statement that shows the last 4 years under Nobama has not worked, period. Nobama has never had to hire or fire anybody, he knows nothing about running a business, therefore knows nothing about running a country. He got elected, because liberals saw him as a "rock star. He will go down as the worst pres, passing Jimmy Carter."
You must of been watching the cutted version that the Free loading Democats made up or you were watching with the TV turned down
I just heard the President and Governor Romney debating the notion of "revenue" ... vs ... "spending cuts" ... President Obama commented on the ten to one ratio that Governor Romney had refused during the primary debates. As if cutting one tax ... was so offfensive ... as opposed to "feeding kids" ... "helping poor people" ... "education FOR ALL" ... "infrastructure" ... and so on ... which would be cut by 10.
Mr. Romney then commented that his plan for "revenue" ... was to "create more jobs" ... hence "more people would be paying taxes." Please ... feel free to read that again.
This means ... the "working class" ... would be the ones to provide the "revenue" ... for the country ... while the wealthy ... who didnn't" ... "work" for a living ... could just put "their" money ... any ol' place they see fit ... avoinding taxes ... and accoutability.
So ... Mr. Romney has "confesseded" ... his "tax plan" ... other than "spending cuts" ( education, cops, firefighters, garbage collectors ... and so on) ... is to make more people work ... so they can ... cumulatively ... "bring in more taxes" ... thereby ... basing his entire "tax plan" ... on the "income" ... of the middle class ... and working poor.
C-Ya
Pam-I-Am
I totally agree with you Pam-I-Am.
its ironic, the real moochers are those who reap in wealth without working for a living and still get tax deductions big time, living off other taxpayers.
@Pam-I-Am- That's exactly right Pam.
Well stated, Pam-I-Am. The "Takers" are the financial manipulators who devise clever schemes for extracting money out of the system--without adding value to it. Bain Capital was great at running up debt to pay their fees--then letting companies go bankrupt, leaving the true Makers out in the cold. This progressive small business owner is not impressed by vulture capital profits. A true business leader is all about Adding Value--not subtracting it. Romney was so excited about investing in a Chinese company that paid workers $2.00 a day and kept them in crowded dormitories. Maybe that is his wonderful (trickle down?) housing plan for America. Next thing you know, we will start feeling "Entitled" to free air!
R=Rule by the Rich ---- Vote D.
Romney was either lying during the campaign or he is lying now. I could not tell whether that was the real Romney or the "vulture capitalist" that left thousands without jobs. He is a very good liar. I think PBO was as astounded as everybody else.
liberals are so blind to reality. ive been to 3 sires now and your the only poeple that think obama was anything other than a studdering imbicile
how about trying to say that again...sires? and did you mean "stuttering" - no wonder you don't get it.
Romney Robot frozen grim-smile. President Obama class act. POTUS may have looked incredulous and couldn't believe the lies his ears were hearing - in front of millions of people the lies spilled forth from Romney. I empathized with POTUS that this Romney Robot is the best the Republican party could bring. And if the American people vote liar over truth - then the American people will reap the whirlwind. It's as simple as that.
Romney is like a weather vane I really don't know what he believes. He is The Manchurian Candidate.
@afrommi-You hit the nail on the head here. I think the POTUS was as astounded by all the new lies that Romney told tonight on that stage. The pundits and many viewers will say that Romney won this debate. However, I disagree with that assessment. I believe the President was presidential and respectful to the moderator and of the rules. He also was astonished that yet again a new Mitt Romney, with new ideas showed up for the debate. Mitt Romney, is a despicable, pathetic, pathological and habitual liar and his lies on that stage tonight are going to come back to bite him in his ass with his base and the American people. If he won the debate, it was by lying, bullying Jim Lehrer, who was not aggressive enough and failed to ask any significant questions and because the president was polite enough to not step on Lehrer's toes and do his job for him. How could anyone vote for Romney, is beyond me! Every time this man opens his mouth he lies!....And he's suppose to be this big Mormon? Give me an effing break! The presidency is a possession or a trophy for Romney. That's all and he will say, do and pay whatever to obtain it! Barack Obama has my vote!
seriously, this was a debate after all. Obama didn't know what to say. Its as simple as that. Poor baby got bullied. Well, he had every chance to right it and he couldn't!!!
I agree that the guy who debated Obama won. It's was a brand new candidate that didn't believe in anything that guy, Romney, was running on. Ted Kennedy nailed it long ago when he told Romney "you're not pro-choice, you're multiple choice." Romney is any fantasy you need to believe in. Last night, he loved all "you people" in the 47%. Lying comes as easily as breathing to sociopaths.
President Obama mopped the floor with Romney. Romney prattled on and on. Obviously the media had decided to give it to Romney before the debate, because what they are saying has nothing to do with what was said. MSNBC is sounding like Fox News. I've had to turn you off.
Obama got spanked!! He was shaken from the git-go. Hemmin & hawin...repeating his stock lines...flashin his I'm-really-cool-and-not-nervous fake arse smile...and flashin it a mile a minute! You know he wishes he would have been standing across from his boy G-dub tonight. B.O. done been exposed yo!!
Your right, Moshe. Obama was thrown a bit by the fact Mitt threw out the old Mitt , denied he had ever been the old Mitt, and lied his teeth off. It is hard to debate with a moving chimera of a man. The man is a sociopath, vote him in at your own peril. Sorry you are easily deceived by his slick exterior, and cannot see he lacks any substantive core.
Liars win in the short-term. Let's see what this brand new candidate says now that he's got some explaining to do. All we know now is he disagrees with that Romney dude.
They both nailed the smile!
I cannot believe Re-write Romney flipped and flopped again! Has he NO CODE?
@Dave Lowsoppo- Amen!
flip-flopping is his code....which is no code at all.
Looking at those vote totals so far, it sure goes go show just how undiscerning and enamored of the hollow man Obama this blogs audience. When all the commentators and pundits say the debate was won my Romney, and this small minded group of left wing nuts assembled here overwhelming said Obama won.
Jim Carvell summed it up best: "Romney looked like he really wanted to be there tonight, and Obama never looked happy to be debating."
Wrong again, Keith. This isn't the Fox audience. Nobody, including you, had ever met this new candidate. All we know is he disagrees with that Romney candidate. The discerning audience consists of informed people that watched as Romney dug a deeper hole for himself. Those are the people who think Obama won. Those who think that "Romney the Democrat" won are people, like me, who get that many judge the winner by how loud, rude, snarky they are. Also this new magician-candidate is going to make us all prosperous and it won't cost anyone a penny and will actually reduce the deficit. What's not to love? So I think the new Romney won hands down...for now. It could be a very different story when he has to justify and explain the miracles he will bring forth. Oh, that's right, Ryan has already said it's too complicated for us to understand.
Jeff, which Presidential debate were you watching? Obama did NOT win the debate, surprisingly, Romney did....
Who was that guy across from the President? But seriously...
Parvin, it reminded me of the Saddleback Church sessions. Remember McCain's energy and focus that day?
But just like McCain's legacy of following Bush and every 'make the rich happy is the answer' rule change, Romney's words are out there to haunt him.
If you mean by blantly lying, oh wait that what his whole campaign was about, Obama looked straight into the cameras tod the truth, while Romney couldnt because he was blatently lying and flip flopping as usual!!!
Romney Robots "words are out there to haunt him." HA! Romney Robot cannot be haunted because he is a robot! Duh!
Romney talks about so much change and with his back ground change can only be good for big companies and corporations whom profit off of the working people . Romney doesn't want to talk about ryans budget plan either .
President Obama wins on facts--as always. Romney was the pathological liar he has been since he's been running. Vague...no specifics. I DO wish PBO would have taken on Mittens' lies more, but the Repub sheep did well to talk about PBO being angry just before the debate....sort of the same tactics crowds use when they know they're being outplayed at a basketball game--just yell before the free throw. Step up your game, PBO---we KNOW you can do it.
@Gram2jalen- You make an excellent point about what they were saying about the POTUS before the debate. Pathological liar Romney!
President Obama won this round. Romney gave no plan what so ever. He acted like a bully and this is not what this country needs. Do wish the president would have mentioned 47%
I knew he wouldn't mention the 47%. POTUS is a class act and it's like when you know someone's done a bad, bad thing, you have the power to spread that badness and in turn make it a part of you. Or when you know someone's done a bad, bad thing, you have the power to not let it touch you, therefore not become a part of you. The sun will rise and set upon all, the good and the bad. Keep aiming for the good POTUS (as if he needs me to say that), we all answer to a higher power.
You be smokin some tasty crack, you whack, in November you wont' have Jack.
Everytime Prissy Romney Robot opens his mouth he lets the lies roll! All he knowed to talk about was what he has already been saying; more for the rich and the HELL with the middle class! If he has such a good plan why can't he give the specifics of his plan! He doesn't care if the middle class & seniors die! These debates don't have to convince me who to vote for! Obama 2012!
The president won
You are out of touch.
See you in November libtard, Obama is going to go down in numbers to make Carters epic fail look like a razor thin loss.
Reading through your posts here tell me all I need to know. You should check your dryer. I think your white sheets are ready. Yo.
@ Shin Tenken to Red Ruffansore- lol, that was good!
One of the best lines of the night...."Donald Trump doesn't think he's small anything." LOL
...and "I had five seconds before you interrupted me" might fit in.
Does it really matter who won this debate? GOP policies did not change or did they? All self deportation for Latinos, tax breaks for the rich, end healthcare for all, GOP in control of women's body, 47% believe they are entitled to government handouts!
I think Team Obama played down to his opponent for tactical reasons, in order to reserve his ammunition for the next few debates. Bush did the same thing in 2004. Let's be honest, Kerry DESTROYED a drunken and tired looking President Bush, but what did it matter? Bush won anyway. Historically speaking, the challenger is almost always perceived to be the winner in the first debate performance, mostly because Americans love an underdog. Mitt is an underdog missing two legs and an eye.
I agree Andy. The president remained calm and was studying Romney. He's saving his energy and best stuff for the next 2 debates.
I agree Kmac and Andy: In think the President was studying his opponent and will slaughter him in the next two debates....tactics....this is what one learns after being the President....
He did show impatience and kept looking at the moderator to stop the interruption of many repetitions from Romney.
What the hell were you watching. Obama kept his cool, smiled, was respectul, even when he was interrupted by Lehrer and Romney.
Republicans should ask themselves one question: Which Mitt Ronmey they are going to vote for? This was 360 degrees turn. I was for, I was against during campaign, he is now for, and will be against in next debate before he is for in the last debate. If medecine is good for MA, it is not good for the rest of the country! Health Care in MA didn't break the constitution but it will break in if it is implemented around the country? Mitt Romney face B
Romney mopped the floor with puppethead Obama and rinsed it off in buckethead Biden. I can't wait for the debate between Biden/Ryan. Putting a chipmunk in a lion cage would be more fair. Remember libtards, me laughing at you. That is a constant.
And you care nothing about his 360 on nearly all of his policy points? Doesn't matter, huh? Clearly it doesn't to you. Reading through your posts, it's pretty clear what you're about.
"Libtard"? Yeah. Red Ruffansore is how you'll be feeling in November.
@Shin Tenken- Very good Shin! :)
I was thinking 180, but you're right: a 360 - all the way back around to where he started (when he wasn't trying to be a "severe conservative").
the bucket of lies was brought on stage with the half witt willard.
Obama, basically observed it and dumped it out for everyone else to see.....I think they counted 27 lies, and half truths in there so far. And they have even started to kit-pic the yet!
You know the truth is Obama was just playing it cool, now he knows how he will lay down his cards. See ya!
Obama got spanked!! He was shaken from the git-go. Hemmin & hawin...repeating his stock lines...flashin his I'm-really-cool-and-not-nervous fake arse smile...and flashin it a mile a minute! Made me downright uncomfortable...like watching the Savannah St. - OK State game...brutal. You know he wishes he would have been standing across from his boy G-dub tonight. B.O. done been exposed ya'll!! MSNBC talkin heads all look sick!
Are y'all conscious?...The president was exactly on point!...His truth will always trump mitt romney's lies... Every time! I know that this fact will be the deciding factor as to who will be the next president!...It is the basic principle foundation of this great democracy!...Honesty.Truth. And Humble Respect for the Hard Working Citizens of this Great Nation!...I don't care how much dressing you put on a "Crap Sandwich", it is going to take some mighty convincing to make me believe that it will taste like "cake", when I can clearly smell that it is pure feces!...Truth trumps all lies all of the time! no matter whether in "Heaven" or on "Earth!"...Wake Up People!
Yeah yeah, the Twit played well to the gallery of fools tonight. Ask the GOP how they like their new about face liberal candidate.
Romney won the Biggest Liar contest walking away.
