MSNBC's Joe Scarborough commented on Morning Joe Wednesday that Mitt Romney has conservatism all wrong. The candidate has been under fire over a secret fundraising tape, in which he appeared to brush off the 47 percent of Americans who don't pay income taxes as moochers.
"We don't look at them as the problem," Scarborough said. "They are victims. They are the victims of bad economic policies."
Scarborough went on to reference former president George W. Bush's philosophy of "compassionate conservatism," a philosophy he ran on in the 2000 election, and one for which he continued to advocate as president.
Bush best highlighted this style of governing during a 2002 speech in San Jose, California. He told the audience, "It is compassionate to actively help our fellow citizens in need. It is conservative to insist on responsibility and on results."
Is this approach in Republican politics going the way of the dinosaurs?

I cannot claim that when I first heard that phrase I thought that was purely intended for George W. Bush's drinking problem. Yes, my mother would have felt that compassion as well. Tragically it was intended for himself, and we all feel sorry. But the institution should not have been the White House.
Compassionate Conservatism was sacrificed on the altar of the Golden Calf.
Whatever "compassionate conservatism" George W. Bush claimed was smothered by Dick Cheney who was anything but...
Bush 43 might've started out with a Yalie "frat brother" view of the Presidency and been a decent enough sort, but that went south in a hurry after September 11th.
I was initially drawn to that "compassionate" claim, but I recognized fairly quickly he wasn't smart enough to be president... And after Sept. 11, his grandiosity was pretty apparent...
Conservatives don't believe in Dinosaurs, they are called demons silly.
Why are Republican'ts so hypocritical about the word "Redistribution"?
The President just "TALKED" about it, but the GOP actually "DID IT" and gave us a $16 TRILLION national debt in the process.
The GOP "REDISTRIBUTED" the wealth to the 1% in the past 32 years since Reagan.
The real free loaders are the ones receiving TRILLIONS in GOP created subsidies, tax discounts, corporate welfare, loopholes, etc. ALL GOP Policies!
The GOP has awarded 1% of the people 40% of the nation's wealth by BORROWING and SPENDING and running a $16 TRILLION National Debt.
The GOP started the "REDISTRIBUTION OF DEBT" on the middle class when they made that PLEDGE to NEVER bring more Cash to the government.
Republican't policies of the past 32 years have created more and more people filing claims for entitlement insurance benefits than ever before.
Now these same people on the right and their base are calling the needy people names, insulting them and demeaning them.
The 47% are also being targeted because they have had a safety-net and get refunds on their income taxes.
Thank you Democartic leaders for creating national insurance protection for the lil' person from the Republican's nature to destroy the economy when they're in power.
Stop the lies, ALL GOP Policies at fault.
Stop the "REDISTRIBUTION OF DEBT" on the middle class.
Off your meds again, BO?
Your economic analysis skills stink as much as does your moniker imply your unwashed body does, fool. Or perhaps you are like Obama appearing on Letterman who couldn't remember the debt was just over $10 Trillion when he took office in Jan, 2009 and went over $16 Trillion due to his runaway deficit social spending before his failed term of office is quite completed? Or maybe you are like Obama who unbelievably stated in defense of the run up of debt in such large proportions that has led to our second in two years credit downgrade on our borrowing capability simply because some part of the government debt is maintained by parties within the country (like it doesn't have to be repaid still in the future?)? What a fool!
Never mind the irony of using the term "entitlement"/"entitled" as a derogatory meme of resentment for life-style expectations (an irony apparently lost on the speaker and his audience).
There is something Dickensian about an uberwealthy man who exploits every tax loop hole (and boasted that he pays not one dime more than legally required) complaining to other wealthy about the tax exemptions and credits allotted to the poor, the working poor, and lower middle-class households.
There is something Dickensian about a rich man at a $50,000 a plate dinner, with waiters walking around serving wine, complaining to other rich guests that people have the affrontery to expect FOOD! (along with housing and health care; perhaps they should have added clear air and clean water).
Remember the dinner(s) in Oliver Twist?
"The room in which the boys were fed, was a large stone hall, with a copper at one end: out of which the master, dressed in an apron for the purpose, and assisted by one or two women, ladled the gruel at meal-times. Of this festive composition each boy had one porringer, and no more- except on occasions of great public rejoicing, when he had two ounces and a quarter of bread besides. The bowls never wanted washing. The boys polished them with their spoons till they shone again; and when they had performed this operation (which never took very long, the spoons being nearly as large as the bowls), they would sit staring at the copper, with such eager eyes, as if they could have devoured the very bricks of which it was composed; employing themselves, meanwhile, in sucking their fingers most assiduously, with the view of catching up any stray splashes of gruel that might have been cast thereon. Boys have generally excellent appetites. Oliver Twist and his companions suffered the tortures of slow starvation for three months: at last they got so voracious and wild with hunger, that ... A council was held; lots were cast who should walk up to the master after supper that evening, and ask for more; and it fell to Oliver Twist. .... "Please, sir, I want some more."
... The board were sitting in solemn conclave, when Mr. Bumble rushed into the room in great excitement, and addressing the gentleman in the high chair, said, "Mr. Limbkins, I beg your pardon, sir! Oliver Twist has asked for more!" ... There was a general start. Horror was depicted on every countenance. ... "That boy will be hung," said the gentleman in the white waistcoat. "I know that boy will be hung."
Asking the middle class and the needy to pay for the GOP created TRILLIONS of debt is called...
"REDISTRIBUTION OF DEBT"
At the same time that Romney had "overeached" in his answering a question as to what his campaign strategy would be re appealing to the electorate before fund raisers, and he explained by pointing to those who would not be receptive to his arguments for tax cuts and tax reform becuase they did not currently pay income taxes in this country, he had stated in an interview widely broadcast and rebroadcast by the natio's media the he was not concerned with the poor in this country as there was a safety net for them, and added if that net need repair, he would see that it was repaired...but his concern was for the suffering Middle Class, and how reignite by tax cuts and tax reform primarily are moribund economy so that they might prosper. End of story!

Double posting only compounded the syntactic felony of one long run-on sentence, Grandpa (and there was also inappropriate use of a comma).
I'll bet the Romney plan doesn't end subsidies for companies that ship American jobs overseas... And he doesn't seem to grasp the 47% includes the middle class he's saying are content with President Obama...
This campaign is over, and supporters would do well to issue a call for Dr. Kevorkian, since they're probably unaware he's dead as well...
Strange that that comment double posted, and with the first posting showing without the spelling and typo corrections. I do recall I had received an "error, wait a few moments and try again" message there. The campaign is over, Cab Driver? Then why is it that the race is in a statistical tie according to recent polls, and Obama playing defense now on both the economic and foreign affairs fronts, before entering the debate cycle and October? Pray tell?
Gallup today:
Presidential Election

Give you a hint September 2008.
Seriously after the Obama 2005 Income Tax analysis and the WinShape Foundation (Chick-fil-A) 2010 Form 990-PF donor list ...
