Mitt Romney responded to the secret tape of him at a fundraiser with an op-ed in USA Today. The USA editorial board wrote the opposing view. Here are some more stories informing the Last Word rundown tonight:

Pseudologia fantastica - the 1% disease
Why are republicans loosing? They have lots more money so they should be winning.
This is a form of lying that involves delusions in otherwise healthy individuals.
Paranoid schizophrenia is far more serious and debilitating illness that can render one unable to function as a result of deeply held delusions that often manifest as greater religiosity that draws them to seek comfort in church.
Romney is not mentally disabled as would be the case with schizophrenia.
By the same token, it is obvious to the causal observer that Romney is not normal.
About half the population is sufficiently mentally ill to be susceptible to this phenomenon, and this is profoundly disturbing when politicians begin exploiting this using mass media.
Common urban legends involve birth certificates, "tax moochers" like handicapped, elderly, and mentally ill, as well as the idea that immigrant farm workers are "stealing farm jobs" from US citizens despite the fact no US citizens make a living picking fruit and vegetables.
This kind of delusion is overcome by confronting individuals with truth linked to credible sources like universities and credible news organizations that report facts like MSNBC.
The 10 poorest states are the Republican voting base andthey dominate the 47%.
Romney has repeated delusional fantasies so often and so hard that he is being to believe the lies that are being used to win votes.
It is now clear that this is costing him votes.
While a licensed psychologist may not wish to risk their license discussing this, an elderly financially independent "tax moocher" may have no problem doing that with the proper enticement.
Love the show.
Well, besides the Appaliacian states of Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia which are all suffering from past histories of poor economies and lower education achievements and the recent attack on their leading natural resource development and production (Coal), you have the southern States Louisiana, South Carolina, and Alabama, and Mississippi listed there, that were and still very much are largely agrarian, and populated with large groups of poorly educated and low skilled workers, especially Afro-American, and were on the losing side of our Civil War, Evan. The other three states in your top 10 (or low ten) are Arizona, Oklahoma, and Montana (the cattle states) that also have some of our largest populations of Native Americans, especially those unassimilated to the American culture of industriousness living on reservations.
So simply the fact that Republicans have done well in those states in the very recent past as your rationale for low education and economic progress does not survive a rigorous examination of socio-economic factors that underlie that situation.
Romney's and the Republicans' message of relying on growth in our economy spurred by tax reform and getting rid of the burden of unnecessary federal government red tape regulations that bind the efforts of our private sector to grow and prosper, and development of all our natural resources and sound and efficient education/job training reform that is accountable vs. the huge expansion by way of $1 Trillion dollar plus annual deficit spending of the welfare, food stamp, and extended unemployment benefits, along with Medicaid, Housing Assistance, and an explosion of spurious disability claims under SSI and SSDI etc. to pander to able bodied people who are unable to find employment opportunities or pursue education and job training under his administrations mismanaged and extremely low growth national economy is the battle that's getting on! And not some cocymamie pseduopsychological mumbojumbo out of your adolescent past, Evan.
Amd finally, Gov Romney and the Republicans are not unaware nor will they turn a cold shoulder to the truely needy and unfortunate, and the retired. Its just that the message of tax reform and tax cuts to spur economic growth does not register with that popultion, that Obama and the Democrat Party would have you believe they are the champions of.
Keith, how could you be so wildly misinformed? So many incorrect points here, but I will choose just one, your stunningly ignorant comments about SSI (for the disabled with little work experience) and SSDI (for disabled workers). I strongly urge you to learn about the requirements and the application process info on line via Social Security's website), to see for yourself how difficult it is to obtain these benefits. One must submit years of documentation (medical records, etc.) and current confirmation of severe disability by his/her doctor. Yes, proof of disability is required. The reason the disabled often seek an attorney is precisely because the application process is so difficult. It isn't enough to have a disability - it must be medically proved that the disability is so severe that the person is incapable of self-support. That is why there are no "spurious claims" -- full medical records/current medical confirmation must be provided. Every case is periodically reviewed, whereupon a recipient is required to have the disability re-evaluated by his/her doctor etc. Every 10 yrs or so, the right wing comes out with claims of disability aid fraud, only to have those claims disproved.
Grandpa Fuzz is equally misinformed about Native Americans, who make up about 2.5% of our country's population. Which means that's utter bull@!$%# about states having high populations of Native Americans; the total number of Navajos enrolled in their tribe is only 175,000 people in three states, and Montana is the only state he named that actually raise large numbers of cattle. From his description, it's doubtful he's ever set foot in Arizona and gets his knowledge of cowboys and Indians from late night westerns on Encore.
I'm reminded of the Monte Python skit where one fellow remarks, "He's making this up as he goes along."
Branski, I worked with the disabled in my professional career, both physically and mentally. And the new game in town is to get Disability (be it SSI or SSDI) for what would be normally seen in medical and psycholoical circles as transient mood disorders now routinely labled as disabling from work capability Bi-Polar disorders, Anxiety, or Depression, the most misused diagnoses of all times. Those are also the leading diagnoses provided for recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families being provided extensions of assistance past their 2nd year without being required to be involved in either education or job skill or work training programs.
I had a brother who lived in Arizona from the early 1980s thru mid 2000s, employed as a land use and regional planner who I would visit frequently thru the years, and I lived one full winter in Arizona outside of the Valley of the Sun in rurak Western Arizona and traveled much among the peoples and reservations, Cab Driver. And, are you telling me that Arizona, the economy based on the three "C's", Climate, Cattle and Cotton, and Oklahoma are not still key players in the beef raising sector of our agrarian states? Do some hands on research, even if it means getting outside of your comfortable shell in Salt Lake City.
Thank you Evan.
The Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan's Brother Money Connection
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan's brother provide an object lesson on how crony capitalism is done,
Romney may have breached state ethics laws as Governor of Massachusetts by holding a stake in a company that did lucrative work for his administration and was linked to the family of Paul Ryan, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Imagitas, a marketing company, was contracted by the state of Massachusetts after receiving $5 million investment from Bain Capital, Romney’s investment firm.
DT has learned that one of Paul Ryan's brothers, Tobin Ryan, is a former Bain consultant. Both Romney and Tobin Ryan apparently stood to benefit from the $230 million sale of the company in 2005, while Romney remained governor of Massachusetts.
Massachusetts law requires that all state employees divest themselves of financial interests in private sector contracts with state agencies. At the time, failure to do so could have resulted in a $2,000 fine or a 2.5-year prison sentence.
DT goes on:
Better take another hit, Crackhead Awards, you brief high is gone!
Speaking of "Bad Prediction Awards," Grandpa has a few coming... First is the report exonerating Attorney General Holder of any wrongdoing in "Fast and Furious."
Grandpa was furiously shouting about this one a few months ago, but his claims didn't even turn out to be even half fast.
And the Pennsylvania Supreme Court voted 4-2 to send the Voter I.D. back to the court that upheld it, saying it had to be determined that voters weren't being going to be disenfranchised... Which they were, for no good reason...
Missed again Fuzzie... And no DNA from Trayvon Martin on the shooter's gun, either...
Your Etch-a-Sketch days are pretty much over...
1) So Eric Holder had "plausible deniability" built into the oversight of the development of Fast and Furious, he certainly has not been exonerated from his atttempts at coverup, which is what the House Investigations committee accused him of, and that the whole House found was a contempt of Congress. In fact, the IG report points to certain evidence that he was involved in coverup activities, as he had knowledge of this failed program at the same time he was approving not one, but two letters sent to the House Investigations denying the existance of Fast and Furious, which were outright lies. The Civil Court suit goes on, Cab Driver.
1) The Court that upheld the state of Pennsylvania's position on the voter ID legislationcab has the case, back...do you actually believe they will reverse their decision, Cab Driver?
3) And who ever thought there would be DNA from Travon Martin on Zimmerman's holstered until he drew it pistol. This is a meaningless piece of information, Cab Driver, that has no bearing at all in the facts of this justifiable shooting in self defense case.
Weird, hearing the public discussion today, with so many people acting outraged at being so diminished by Romney's language. Romney's contempt for middle class workers is no more offensive and wrong than the contempt that this generation of middle class workers has shown to the poor. What's happening today was predictable (and predicted): What the rich are doing to the middle class is merely what the middle class did to the poor, right down to using many of the same contemptuous stereotypes and phrases. It's called "scapegoating," and it's an old tradition. Consider that we know that not everyone can work, and that there simply are not jobs for all who need one, and then declare those those who are not gainfully employed are trash, undeserving of anything. We surely DO believe in helping the deserving poor, but have also decided that those whop are poor are never deserving. When middle class workers strike for a living wage or safe working conditions, the rich react the same way that the middle class would react if the poor demanded a legitimate safety net. That said, let's get over that idea that mere mortal are undeserving of "government money." Government has no money. Every dollar in the govt budget is a public dollar -- our money, paid by us, to be used for the common good -- not merely to finance endless war and to enrich the wealthy.
Romney and the Republican Party have no contempt for the Middle Class, nor for the working poor, DH Branski. Don't know where you got that idea.
As to the 90% of all the taxes raised in this country, it begins with the working Middle Class that have $66,000 of family income, and ascends to the "rich" and the businesses and corporations, and the federal estate tax that hinders the pass through of stored wealth in our nation.
Isn't it funny that the GOP has been claiming that there is voter fraud going on in America. Now we know who is responsible for all the fraud going on. It has just been announced that the Republican National Committee, (That's right The GOP themselves) is behind voter fraud in states all across America. They hired a consulting company to register voters and they paid them over $1.3 million Dollars to commit these frauds and now they are trying to distance themselves from the fraud. They will do anything to steal this election and enslave all of the Poor and Middle Class Americans in this country. They are trying to stop the elderly, College students and the lower and middle income people in this country so that the super rich in this country can get more while the start more wars and put all of us in danger because of their greed. When is enough enough. How much must they have before they are satisfied.
They are willfully dividing this country and is willing to send our children to wars that we do not need to be involved in. they want to pollute our food, air and water supply just so that they can make a few extra dollars for themselves. the other day i saw a movie by H D Wells. it was about a man who traveled in a Time Machine and when way into the distant future were some of the people went to live under ground after a world war and over the decades they mutated into these creatures that hunted the tribe of people who lived above ground for food and to breed them to keep their mutated species alive. Is that where we are heading? Is that what the future holds for us. Mitt Romney believes it is his destiny to start a world war and put this world in complete chaos. The way the the GOP is going and with the greed in their hearts, I only have one question. Do they believe this is what God wants them to do and if so why? There is a fantasy world and a reality world and they are about to collide if the Republicans Party, The Corporate GOP politicians and Mitt Romney is able to Steal this election or any after this one. Ask yourselves, Am I my Brother's and Sisters Keeper. Please Register and vote. America needs you now more than ever before.
