For the second day in a row, the first guest on Martin Bashir's eponymous msnbc program was one Lawrence O'Donnell. And for the second day in a row, the lead interview of that broadcast featured the two politically sharp minds trading spot-on analysis of the RNC laced with plenty of sarcasm. Several chuckles could be heard across The Last Word newsroom.
Today, Martin and Lawrence discussed the aftermath of last night's RNC keynote speech by Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ). Things started off with some talk about "love."
The pair also previewed tonight's speeches from former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) and presumptive vice presidential nominee Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI).
Lawrence also gave his thoughts on the closed-door process of the convention speechwriters.
"These people reach for every single possible racial double entendre they can possibly find in every one of these speeches... I know these speechwriters are insensitive. I know the way they work. They do not have the same sensitivity level that others speechwriters do."

Taking to beating the race baiting drum now to bolster the less than enthusiastic Obama base of Afro-American voters due to the 16% (minimum) of unemployment rate in black households and communities, that Obama worsened in his 4 years of office with his anti-business, anti-bank lending agenda and threats of higher taxes, and his statement of support for Gay Marriage this summer?
What's up? Did the "Gender War" gambit run its course?
I saw that MSNBC boycotted Afro-American former Democrat Congressman from Alabama Artur Davis's speech in prime time last night in their biased coverage of the Republican Convention. Congressman Davis spoke elequently of his mistake when he made one of the seconding speeches for the untried and unknown "Hope and Change" candidate in 2008, who didn't fullfill a single promise to the interest groups, black, brown, white, or yellow, red, and also women that he claimed he was going to be the uniting President, improving the economy, reducing the unemployment rate. Instead we have a moribund economy, and terrible, unimproving Unemployment Rates in all areas of the country. And Artur Davis added, "I should have known that what started that night in Denver Bronco's Stadium at the Democrat Convention in 2008 that began with fake plywood and styrofoam Greek Doric Collumns and artificial smoke wasn't going to end well". And he apoligized for making that mistake.
What MSNBC ran instead of coverage of that speech was old race rabble rouser of the false claims of rape by whitmen in the Tawyna Brawley and Duke Lacross nonsense of Al Sharpton, who was running his mouth about the supposed "racist coded language" and "dog whistle blowing" (whatever that is) in the Republican Speeches last night.
My suggestion folks, if this racebaiting by MSNBC seems particularly repulsive to you in supposed furtherance of the re-election bid of the "Hope and Change" and "Transformational" 1st Black President of 2008 that wanted to be the president of all peoples, and Red Statea and Blue States, I suggest you watch the decent and unbiased coverage of the Convention put up by C-Span, and if you want politi al commentary, get it from CNN!
These fools like Sharpton, Mathews, Bashir, and our own Little Lying Larry O'Donnell are spreading division, hatred, anger messages, and that is poison to the body politic.
I suggest you go back and read your posting. Talk about racial undertones.....wow
The reference to the race baiting tacitics of MSNBC and its commentators, or the reference to the old Jesse Jackson "Rainbow Coalition" that Obama spoke to in 2008...which offends your hyper sensitive nature, abbynmac? Could you be less obtuse?
Excellent advice for Grandpa there, Abby, but as you can see he's incapable of getting past that mental/perceptual block where his own actions are involved.
So we can keep holding the blowtorch to his hind end, and he'll just keep shrieking louder and louder about how everyone is out of step but him.... He's literally got a big "R" on his forehead and can't see it.
Whatever wound from his past that did that is way worse in his "inner child's reality" than having everyone get in his face. And of course he attacks me as part of his defenses, but honest, I learned about this stuff partly from clinical work and partly from experience.
Cue up the rock opera Tommy...
Go to the mirror, boy...
I just heard Lawrence ODonnel and Mashir speak of Gov. Huckabee. They stated that he said Gov. Romney was a jerk. I think that needs to be researched by both. That is not what he was implying at all. They both need to apologize and need to research facts before putting it out to the public that may believe that. Please stand up and do the correct journalizm that should be reported.
Big Christie erased Ann's message of love and kindness. How unusual for him to blow her message off like that.
An accident of juxtaposition made necessary by the need to reschedule Ann Romney to prime time Tuesday from the original Monday opening schecule. And yet, I heard both messages loud and clear, and I see that Ann's message was being repeatedly replayed on most networks today. Pat!
Bush 41 AND Bush Jr... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I heard someone yelling USA, USA, USA on the Convention floor...
I know it’s just a coincidence every time a Bush is in the White House Americans must suffer through a banking/financial crisis/scandal…
I, for one, will make sure history shows Bush was the worst President ever. Oh oh, here we go again, George W. Bush, war profiteers, big oil, right?
I know it’s a stretch… but for arguments sake lets say Americans can conveniently forget about the 7000+ dead, 30,000+ wounded US soldiers and only GOD knows how many Iraqis and Afghanis. Forget that Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove/Wolfowitz took the good will of the world after 9/11 and turned it to HATE and mistrust.
How these chicken hawks sent our troops into battle WITHOUT PROPER ARMOR or any clear cut plan beyond George W. declaring “Mission Accomplished”. Never mind military strategists didn’t think it was a good idea to get rid of the ONE dictator (Saddam Hussein) in the Middle East that had an IRON BOOT on the throat of fanatical Islam. (Remember… the terrorist, Osama bin Lunatic, degenerates that caused 9/11?)
Forget IRAN? Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove/Wolfowitz can have victory in Iraq when they can stroll through Iraq WITHOUT an armored division and air support to keep them from harm… y’know like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has done several times since the USA got rid of Saddam.
FORGET the TRILLIONS of dollars wasted in Iraq or the 20 BILLION dollars missing or the 175,000 weapons misplaced or all the arms dealers and WAR profiteers that milked our national treasury. FORGET about all the Constitutional VIOLATIONS, domestic spying, bold lying, Justice Dept. bias, Walter Reed, Abu Ghraib, soldiers getting electrocuted in showers due to shoddy military contractor work…
YEAaaaaa… once again, imagine we live in a country where almost half the population is dumber than a tree full of monkeys. These citizens are so damn ignorant they allowed some of the worst criminals in history bend them over and #*~/ them in the *** for 8 years. Even worse these numbskulls LIKED IT so much they want MORE!
MORE of the waste, fraud, abuse, lies, incompetence, scandal, fear mongering, sexual deviancy, corruption, off-shore tax evasion, media consolidation, arms dealing, reckless economics, deregulation, war profiteering, Bush/Paulson corporate welfare, Constitutional violations and a Corporate Crime Wave of EPIC proportions. THE GREATEST LOOTING OF A NATIONS WEALTH AND RESOURCES IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND! (are you angry yet ya bunch of pussies)
IF THE READER CAN POSSIBLY FORGET ALL THAT… then the WORST thing the Bush Administration DID was NOT raise taxes to pay for the WARS, tax cuts for the rich and Medicare Part iDiot. You want to hear about Fiscal Irresponsibility GRANDE?
Instead, Bush/Cheney borrowed from COMMUNIST China and Saudi Arabia (at outrageous interest rates) AND put OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN under the thumb of MASSIVE FOREIGN DEBT!
If there’s ANYONE out there who can explain away Bush/Cheney Administration CRIMES please reply because I’m NOT GETTING IT! Funny how we never heard any complaints from the so-called Tea Party crowd while Bush/Cheney were spending our national wealth like a crack HO with a credit card. I am somebody who fights back against the true enemies of FREEDOM cyberbitchslap.blogspot.com

You're in good company there. Never mind the folks here for now, but Christopher Buckley, the only child of William F. Buckley, Jr. would agree with you, and he inherited the mantle of his dad's conservatism until he endorsed Barack Obama in 2008 and was summarily fired from the conservative magazine his father founded.
As for "worst," well I've spent a lot of time reading two experts on "Buchanan's Blunder" (David Bigler and Will Bagley), and our lone bachelor president is getting a bit of a bad rap on that one.
There's still Harding, and Andrew Jackson is way over-rated...
Thank you Spoact--your eloquent statement nailed it,!!!
Lawrence O'Donnell, you should be ashamed of yourself for your irresponsible comments this afternoon. I am in shock at your attempts to incite racism with your ignorant and careless comments which more than suggest that a reference to our President playing golf is a racially charged comment actually comparing the President to Tiger Woods. How absurd. You must be the bigot to even think of that! Race and skin color do not even matter to most Americans. I won't be watching your network. Professionalism lost at MSNBC.
Won't watch it again, but makes sure to repeat themselves in an attention-getting ploy...
Apologies if this is satire; it almost works that way for most of us...
Try C-Span and CNN for better coverage without the gutter politics of this MSNBC in the bag for the Obama re-election campaign of divisiveness, hatred, and anger, Edcu ated Voter.
MNBC reporter is wrong in criticizing Ryan on the % of federal spending to GDP. For the sixty years prior to WWII federal spending was 19.7%; 19.8% under Clinton; 19.6% under Bush and 20.8% in 2008 and under Obama has increased to 25.2%.
So we have two reporters interviewing one another. Awesome!! I wish we could go back to when they just gave us the facts instead of telling us how raciest we are if we think that the emperor has no cloths. I think what they were trying to say is that the number of rounds of golf this president has played is greater than the number of cabinet meeting the guy has had.
O'Donnell said that "like a slave" Mitch used this reference. I think O'Donnell is trying to tell us that the republicans are going to put us "back in chains." A little race baiting yourself?
Also in the piece O'Donnell says "I know for a fact" I am going to put the BS card on the table here. Let's hear your source Mr. O'Donnell. Then you can make me eat my comment about reporting the facts.
Here we go again, lie, lie, lie and lieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i didn't hear any constructive pratical speech in this republican convention but same old thing,no surprise their job is to make president Obama one term president.Ride on bro.
What the heck are you babbling about now, Cab Driver? Or are you still pretending to be "a committee of three PHDs (one of whom is a psychologist)". LOL!
You just proved my case with that one...
Q.E.D.
Loved the line of Paul Ryan's tonight about "college grqduates living in their childhood bedrooms staring up at fading Barrack Obama posters, and wondering when they will be able to start their own lives", referring to the estimated 50% of college graduates that kind find work in their fields they trained for, or any work, for that matter in the Obama economy.
This is on a day that Obama was off visiting college campuses and asking for the youth vote for four more years. LOL!
Now, I suppose O'Donnell and Mathews and Sharpton and company will find someting of "racist coded language" in that remark, and Maddow will find an "anti-feminist and an LBGT" to boot reference to remark upon, and Schultz an "anti-working class and union membership" message underneath that truth!
Easy to see why you loved that baby-faced dishonest slimeball. He's every bit the outrageous liar you are...
http://ed.msnbc.com/_news/2012/08/29/13557534-paul-ryan-lies-again-about-obamas-role-in-gm-plant-closing?threadId=3553400&commentId=69461422#c69461422
But perhaps the most blatant lie was the suggestion that a General Motors plant in his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin, closed and stay closed under and/or because of President Obama.
The GM plant Ryan was referring to closed in December 2008. Barack Obama was inaugurated in January 2009.
Mitt Romney published an op-ed in the New York Times titled, "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt."
And while I was doing my search for these links (I already knew the facts; I just wanted the links), I see CNN dropped the ball on this one and didn't openly identify its dishonesty.
Is that your you new rule, Fuzzie? If CNN says something didn't happen, it didn't?
Praise the lord and pass the Etch-a-Sketch...
You might think the Congressman might no something more about his home town where his family home is and his own Congressional district, but you jumped for a tweet from the twice fired from networks and totally discredited journalist Keith Olberman, didn't you Cab Driver, and so did his old colleagues at MSNBC apparently! You would think you would learn to check these peoples' stories before ignorantly parroting them. The GM Plant in Congressman's Ryans hometown and Congressional district that Obama stood in front of in his campaign and vowed if he were elected president in 2009 would not close, was still turning out trucks in 2009 for GM, but they didn't factor into the Obama plan for GM which was to drastically reduce gasoline usage of the GM fleet, and put the money saved from closing this truck plant down to building all electric Chevy Volts, which nobody wants to pay the excessive price to purchase.

Perhaps it's just me...but all I see or hear is the Bride of Chucky. When her mendacious husband and that Eddie Munster running mate of his get royally trounced in November, I fully expect her to go home and take it out on her maid & gardeners.
Niles Crane...err Larry O'Donnell has officially lost his mind. What a disgrace to a once great news organization.
