South Carolina Democrats take issue with some, if not all of the policies of their Republican Governor, Nikki Haley. State Democrats have made hay over the Governor's near refusal to comply with the Affordable Care Act mandate to establish Health Care Exchanges, the Governor's trips and even allegations of nepotism after her daughter was hired at a gift shop in a State Government Building.
So given that downtown Charleston is flooded because of Hurricane Isaac with more bad weather on the way... how do you think they are responding to her speech last night in Tampa. Once again S.C. Dems are asking... Where in the World?
Democrats criticized Haley for being in Tampa rather than home, particularly as outer bands of Hurricane Isaac caused flooding in downtown Charleston.
State Democratic Chair Dick Harpootlian described the damage as “devastating,” adding, “The governors of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are all in their states making sure their citizens’ property and lives are safe and secure. Nikki once again proved that politics, not the people of her state, are the most important.”
Republicans countered with this.
S.C. GOP Chair Chad Connelly said Harpootlian is “teetering on the edge of irrelevancy” and searching for a distraction from Haley’s big moment.
Delegate Carroll Duncan of Dorchester County said she was sorry to hear Charleston flooded, “but she (Haley) couldn’t have changed that.”
Just hope the storm doesn't disrupt football season.

Uhhh...two days of drenching rains and battering winds in Louisana Mississipi, and Alabama and storm surges, and levees threatening parish residents outside of New Orelans on the aniversary to the day of the arrival of Katrina, and has President Obama made an attempt to visit the beleagured region, and oversee Federal co-operation with State Governments? Nope, he has been off on campaign rallys on safe and dry college campuses.
So the street drainage in Charleston, S. Carolina is a little overloaded in spots from some heavy rain, is that a crisis of the same national importance of Issac hitting the still rebuilding area of the Gulf Coast? Geeze Louise!
The real crux of the problem is that Democrats can't say to their base, "See! This hurricane is a reminder from God about what happened to New Orleans when a Republican was in charge."
Republicans enjoy that luxury (see Robertson, Pat). Shoot, they can even claim it was punishment for the evil of same sex marriage...
Of course if the President were to take Air Force One and do a fly over of the storm struck areas, Grandpa would be accusing him of being chicken and exploiting the disaster for political ends.
From the Republican "Book of Turd Tossing 101."
2 days BEFORE Hurriane Katrina was due to hit the Gulf Coast George W. Bush declared a national state of emergency for the region to allow federal coordingation with the state and local authorities to meet the needs of the storm.
Issac? Obama was too busy campaigning on College Campus rallies in Ohio and Virgina, and didn't declare a national state of emergency until 2 days after the storm made landfall on the same path that Katrina took, and to on the exact aniversary of Katrina's landfall....it's not as if he didn't know the seriousness of the this hurricane predicted or thew timing.
Bush was chastisted by Democrats and the liberal media for not visiting for three days to see first hand the situation on the Gulf Coast left in Katrina's wake, although he was monotoring the situation nearby on his Texas Ranch (the second White House), and visited first the Civil Defense National Center in Colorado for briefing as he was able to fly in there.
Issac? Obama continued with his re-election campaigning and fund raising, and three days after this hurricane's landfall and with the Gulf region still in dire straits, no annoucement yet of any plans to for the PRESIDENT to visit the area, or to send old gaffer Joe Biden, not that that would do any real good for anybody.
So you do the math folks...and you know what, not one peep out of the liberal, Obama loving media on this glaring discrepancy in Obama's leadership skills.
You're doin' a heckuva job, Longey.... Unfortunately, Al Gore and some others invented the Internet....

Mr. Obama is on the job. We know you'd rather he was playing golf, of course.
Tune in tonight and watch the Mitt "Milo Minderbinder" for President dog-and-pony show...
