While stumping in his native Michigan today, Mitt Romney cracked a birth certificate joke. He told a crowd in the town of Commerce that he was born in a nearby hospital. Romney then added, "No one has ever asked to see my birth certificate, they know that this is the place that we were born and raised."

WhiteHouse.gov
Today on msnbc's PoliticsNation, Dana Milbank of the Washington Post told Rev. Al Sharpton, "If you just look at this as a political matter, it does him no good. If he wanted to be a birther, he should have done that back in the primary... I think that's why you see his campaign running from this. This goes in the gaffe category... His brain was not working when he did this."
Ultimately, reactions from political pundits have ranged from outrage to "meh." As Dave Weigel points out today in a post for Slate, the whole "birther" notion is so ridiculous to 99.99984579% of the country** that the President has often made jokes about it, himself.
You can buy an overpriced coffee mug from Team Obama's website with the President's birth certificate on it. The President's longform birth certificate is even posted to the White House website, as is President Obama's correspondence with Hawaii state officials showing his request to release said birth certificate.
So what do you think? Was Romney's joke a big deal or is the whole thing being overblown?
**I totally made up that statistic

read this poll
Willard Mitt Romneys coments are not really offensive about the president, The comments about President Barack Obama, are offensive to Mr Obama's Mother!
and after living in a half dozen cities all over the world, I learned one thing, dont talk bad about another mans mother!
If Willard was smart, he would find the fastest horse and go ridding off to china!
Mitt Romney's church also posthumously "baptized" the President's mother...
Not only is this stuff "insulting"... it's damn OUTRAGEOUS. Reinvigorates Obama supporters though because good people don't talk like this. Desperation is showing. Why? Because that's all I've heard. Nothing to bring America together and NO IDEAS, except stopping the current administration. Seriously. And, a big attaboy to Chris Matthews on the Jo show today! He said basically what I was thinking. BTW, where are those tax returns, you people.
If you found his joke offensive than you are either a hypocrite of an IDIOT. In the last several months President Obama has made the same joke one at least 3 actions that I have personally seen the video of. Mitt was also making fun of the birth-er idiots. The funny thing about all of this is the number of idiots that are found on both sides. I just hope that it is about even so they cancel each other out.
I did find Chris funny on Morning Joe, but have you ever been able to focus on the central issue of any subject. Chris, you are the cutest little lap dog that President Obama has ever had.
You need a time out, same as Grandpa Fuzz, chummed...
Anyone can make self-deprecating humor about themselves (me, I can't tell you how many tips I've to with an "I'm a slut" ditty, but in the words of Owen Wiser's The Virginian, you better "smile when you say that").
It works the other way, however, when it's offered deadpan and as an agenda of identifying someone as a outsider.
Don't believe me? Anyone got a good one about a @!$%#talking troll who visits places where he isn't welcome?
I know, this one isn't a troll, it's a zombie, but you get my drift.
And as Chris's question pointed out, "Where' the joke?"
I seem to remember Romney beaming like a Cheshire Cat that ate the bird when he cracked funny, so what's with that "offered deadpan" comment?
Besides, the Supreme Court found that it is appropriate for the Arizona state and local police to inquire a someone's proof of citizenship, much to Obama's and Eric Holder's (Obama's political appointee as Chief of the Justice Department) consternation. Romney has spoken to his support of that Arizona illegal immigration curbing law, so how do you know his double entendre wasn't referring to that, and not the Presidents prior troubles over doubts of his place of birth?
We know because none of us are that stupid.
Only an idiot would claim the President wasn't an American. And I do luvs me some tacos.
Romney hasn't got a leg to stand on!
He's full of sh(* and needs to be held accountable for everything that spells out his complete disregard for this country!
If this man is allowed to become the next president, our country will be in more trouble than it already is!
More of the same from the party of NO!
It's frightening but I really feel that cooler heads will prevail, people will wake up and he will lose the election.
LADIES, we CAN save our country from this lying sack of manure.
Obviously another female vote for Obama bougnt with the cheap trick of mandating one size fits all health insurance policies that provide FREE oral contraceptive on demand, like M&Ms in a candy store, and TANF payments without work requirements, paid for by taking $716 billion dollars out of your mothers and grandmaother's Medicare Trust Fund, Addie.
Really birth control should not be an issue for Christians, including Catholics because you ain't supposed to be having premarital sex in the first place. Married Catholic women are not supposed to be using birth control according to the Pope. So why is it an issue. If you follow your church mandates then you have no use for birth control. I know misery loves company but that is one misery I don't want to share.
You can call any welfare office in any state and they will tell you the work requirement is still in place. I know this is true for NV because I work with recipients. PBO did not take any money from recipients. His medicare savings come from health insurance companies and providers. According to a research study, FOX HATE NEWS peeps are the least informed viewers compared to viewers any other news source including comedy central.
I have been wanting someone in the press to straighten this out once and for all. The truth is that Barack Obama was born to an American woman so it doesn't matter if he was born in Hawaii or some other place. The very fact that his mother is an American makes him an American. It's a shame that Americans are trying to diss someone who is truly one of our own, no different than any other American citizen born of mixed backgrounds--and that, is most of us.
Barack was also born in the USA. I'm sure Hawaii is not happy that Mainlanders are trying to diss their Certificates of Live Birth. I'm tired of hearing it jokingly or not. Because it is NOT a joke. It is trying to cast aspersions on someone who just happens to be the President of the United States. Talk about his policy, talk about anything you think he did or didn't do but stop talking about Who he is...because who he is is ONE of US!
Of course you're right, Simcha. Because Obama's mother was an American, that made him one too, no matter where he was born. It's even more ironic that John McCain wasn't born on American soil, (he wasn't born on the base, as some have reported), but he's still a citizen because his parents were.
George Romney, Mitt's father, was born in Mexico, but he was a citizen because his parents were. There was certainly no birther movement when he ran for president.
Things like this are why people tend to think it's a racist issue. I'm not so sure that it isn't just part of the bat crap crazy Republican party. After all, IOKIYAR.
so by your logic all of those kids that are born here in America with illegal immigrant parent are citizens of Mexico? Haddie Nuff your logic is flawed. Some crazies, and the libs are the only people that worry about a birth certificate. There are so many other reasons why he need to go. The man can't even set a budget. Even Mitt wife ( that never worked a day in her life) can at least put a budget together.
So Ann can put a budget together? Have you seen it? Just admit it. You hate the president because he is biracial and doesn't look some MELANIN DEFICIENT hairless chimp
if i have choose between boring white guy trying to be funny and tacos. tacos are gonna win every time
Taco Kisses: performed by jenna Lopez on "south park"
OK, here's the deal. If this was just a "joke", I guess I don't see the humor.
Let's see, its funny to joke that, unlike the president, as a part of the privileged mainstream (read white) community, no one ever presumed to question his status as an American, it's just taken for granted, right??
Well that's hilarious alright!
What I found very telling was his use of the royal 'we'. "No one has ever asked to see my birth certificate, they know that this is the place that we were born and raised."
Does Mitt think he's still in London? Surely he's aware that in the US there is no royalty?
Believe it or not, Haddie, in the LDS Culture, there's a distinct "hierarchy of royalty," and names like Romney cut a large swath on Planet Utah. Shoot, my own surname has been mentioned as "minor Mormon royalty" at times, and hey, my grandfather was related to the Kimballs...
Here's a friend of mine, Sue Emmett, who's one gutsy gall who's taken Mitt's entitlement issues to the mat, describing the culture Mitt was raised in from a woman's perspective. She is, incidentally, a great-great granddaughter of Brigham Young....

I propose EVERYONE BORN IN THE SIXTIES PULL OUT THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATES (if you can find them). I know my certificate looked just like this one. If I can relocate it, I will send a copy to Lawrence.
What's the deal with the 60s? The Romneys ween't born in the 60s?
The "deal" with the 60s is referring to OBAMA's birth certificate. It is HIS certificate that people keep questioning, and he was born in the 60s and and the point is that his certificate looks just like all the others from that period.
Stained with smudges of marijuana and traces of cocaine, Maureen? LOL!
How about everyone send a copy of their 2006 tax forms to the romney camp, a blank one ! just so they know hwat we "AmeriKans " would like to see!
His tax certificate,
im sure the president will mail Willard a signed copy of His birth certificate, and Joe Bidens birth certificate, for the low low price of 5 years of tax returns!
It's going to take Obama's college and university transcripts and his admission and financial assistance application forms, Romney has already said that he has not doubt that Barrack Obama was born in Hawaii as he said he was.
But having no doubt of that doesn't preclude poking a little good natured fun at the man over an issue that has "dogged" him all his political life, just as Obama's admission that he is a dog eater by history in his life as the adopted son of a millionaire Muslim Indonesnian gentleman will forever "dog" him whenever he want to bring up Romney's family pet of the 1950s.
⁄ ¡Dios mío, Lawrence! Aren't there any decent, sane Republicans? How did they get this collective psychosis that makes them ALL act like llunatics? Even the ones with an Ivy League education are crass, uncouth. Looks like Glenn Beck (aka Voldemort) put the Imperious Curse on the whole crowd.
in 1979 over half the republican party was sane folks and liberals!
Then along come a man from California, and like st Patrick chasing the snakes
Mr Reagan chased the liberals out of the republican party .
and the doors were opened wide for the churchers, the evangelista,
and the rapturians. Being the minority in the party was tolerated for a while ,
but soon enuff, the crazies took over the holy house of the Republicans,
and where sanity once ruled, the crazies now were running the insane asylum,Just like that story By E.A. Poe! In the end it all will come crashing down!
so say"DR tarr and Proffesor Feather"
He is the little preppy boy who went to private school and did not mix with the
"little people" and he is still like that. He hasn't grown up yet.
The dog eater cracked funny about Shamus, Romney's dog in the 50s just last week, and everybody yuked it up, including all of the "commentators" and their guests on MSNBC.
Now, we have Romey cracking funny, just as Obama has so many times over this silly issue, and he is castigated by these folks? What hypocricisy!
Lets try the Wasserman-Schultz, Gibbs, Carney, and Cutter tactic with this one...everything Romney said was true (no one has asked to see his birth certificate,,.he was born right near where he was speaking in Michigan, and was expressing his pride.
Unlike the Presidents joking on the incident in th3 50s when the Romneys, with their station wagon fully packed with 5 kids and luggage and themselves, strapped down their dog Shemuses pet carrier on top of the station wagon for their drive from Belmont, MA to Canada, in clear weather, Romney did not specifically refer to the President as Obama did refer to him...he simply talked about himself, and never mentioned the President. And everything he said was true!
And it was funnier than all get out! LOL!
"What is sauce for the goose, is sauce for the gander!" LOL!
"I know Romney has had a lot of things on top of his car!" Pres Obama...yuk, yuk, yuk!
"You know, nobody has asked me for my birthcertificate, I was born right near here" Gov, Romney...yuk, uuk, yuk!
Right... Keith Olbermann just re-tweeted this one from Donna Brazile...
Remember this back when? Romney son apologizes for Obama 'birther' joke
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2011/12/romney-son-makes-obama-birth-certificate-joke/1#.UDhg5UZ3xAk
Let's try a little cause-and-effect and responsibility lesson here: Romney put the damn dog in the car carrier and took it on the trip... The only thing the President did to warrant the Birther attacks was make a lot of Repugnikans mad by being ambitious enough and popular enough to win the Presidential election...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIjcF4DgFy8
Casino manager is looking for you again... BTW, where were you earlier? We had a party for you... Running out of material and getting scared? I just filled up my tank over at Rachel Maddow's...
Obviously Keith, you failed to comprehend the difference between the two jokes. BTW...everything Obama said about the shameful Seamus ( no "h", one "a") incident was also true. Not really up on Irish name spelling are you, boy-o?
Obamas' was funny...Mitts' was a feeble attempt at pandering to a sector of the GOP base, per ususal.
Obama gets a "yuk-yuk-yuk" for his effort. Romney, well, his is actually closer to a "yuck".
Have you confronted your mistake yet, Keith? More specifically, what you said in post #2.1 at the following link:
http://thelastword.msnbc.com/_news/2012/08/23/13440901-romney-not-taking-qs-on-akin-or-abortion
For a "howling" good time, take a look at:
http://www.dogsagainstromney.com/
Things are really sideways for you if you can't even get a vote from "mans best friend".
Keith Longey...the gift to the left that just keeps on giving...
If as the adopted Muslim son of an Indonesian millionaire you ate dog meat at age 10, you shouldn't qualify to make jokes about anyone else's dog, and how it likes to ride with the wind in his face, just as all dogs do, Eyes Wide Shut.
And as to the Cab Driver...I saw quite a few in that Michigan Romney Rally crowd laughing at the obvious pay back joke that Romney cracked. Sorry if it is a sore subject with you lefties!
Hey, Grandpa, I ate a worm once at age 10, and I learned something...
You and that worm have the same distinct taste and smell...
Don't look at the Michigan Poll numbers, Fuzzie... This one has Obama up by five, and Real Clear Politics averages a number of them out to 3.8. Throw out the one outlier that favored Romney, and it would've been bloody...
One can't compare the truth (Romney dog on car) to a lie (questioning Obama birth place) see how that works.... Romney was 31 when his church (that he was or is a priest in) let BLACKS in they priesthood.... NEED I SAY MORE... We know how Romney fills about a BLACK person... Mormons or KKK it's all the same to me.
Obama was never adopted by an Indonesian millionaire. You do love to wallow in your fantasies, don't you?
Dogs like to get their noses out of the wind on occasion, Keith, just like you should learn to get yours out of Mitts' derriere. I doubt the Romney's afforded Seamus with goggles or a windshield...or you either.
So, you want to blame on a 10-year old child for eating what was put on his plate, like he really had a choice? At least he had the cojones (a foreign term for you, I know, but don't give up hope...you may yet find them one day) to volunteer that part of his childhood. I would imagine, given the circumstances, that might not be too uncommon in that part of the world. It seems to parallel you and all the crow you continually chow down here on "The Last Word" blog.
Why don't you take a look at the dogs against Romney site, Keith...and pay particular attention to the story about a horse known as "Super Hit". Seems the Romneys got themselves into a bit of hot water selling a horse that wasn't as healthy as billed and got their butts, along with their vet, sued for it. And now, one of their cadre of lawyers is trying to get the new owner to sign a confidentiality agreement to keep the details, and the concluded lawsuit, from getting out...but sadly for them, it's a bit too late for that now. The new owner refused to sign...just seems to be a bad roll of the dice if you're a pet of the Romneys.
Just when I think there isn't a bar low enough for you to slither under, you prove me wrong.
Such sensitive souls here. One good turn deserved another...that was nothing more than light hearted payback...why shoud Obama have all the fun...because he is the more "likeable" and "easygoing" of the two candidates in the liberal press's view?
Just desserts, I would say...chow down, its on me, Eyes Wide Shut!
No thanks, I enjoy the image of you with all those feathers hanging out of your mouth much too much to take your prime source of sustenance away from you.
But you're right...your boy isn't the most likable candidate...and even the conservative polls bear that out. Why Mitt even has an atrocious "neigh" rating.
You lose...again.
I say they made their joke, so ha ha ha. So now let's get serious again. Where are those tax returns. We the voters want to see them. Donations or not. You want to be president, so MAN UP little man. This is the real world now. You have to answer to Us, the voters. We are not going to stop. Let's see them.
Right on, the all important taxes. And lets see in turn the Occidental and Columbia and Harvard transcripts and the financial application forms to see if Obama registered for affirmative action admission (or in the case of Occidental College, as a foreign student) and who paid his Tuition and fees at Occidental, Columbia and Harvard.
Well, we were treated to some crowing about an '08 Obama supporter who's speaking at the Republican convention...
It won't happen, but somebody ought to shut up when he reads about former Florida Governor Charlie Crist--a Republican--who's just endorsed the President for re-election.
http://www.tampabay.com/opinion/columns/article1247631.ece
As America prepares to pick our president for the next four years — and as Florida prepares once again to play a decisive role — I'm confident that President Barack Obama is the right leader for our state and the nation. I applaud and share his vision of a future built by a strong and confident middle class in an economy that gives us the opportunity to reap prosperity through hard work and personal responsibility. It is a vision of the future proven right by our history.
You may have missed it, Cab Driver, but the Republican's of Florida dismissed Charlie Christ from their ranks in 2010.
The campaign against Crist was financed by your overlords, the Koch Brothers, BTW.
You missed a chance, and should've repeated the rumors Crist was gay...
And what did you mean by Archer Davis speaking at the Republican Convention "won't happen"? Last I heard, he will be making one of the seconding nomination speeches for Gov Romney, and that was from his mouth, Cab Driver.
What's the difference between Joe Liberman and Charlie Crist? One continued to win elections when his party swept up in anti-War fevor turned away from him, and he ran as an Independent Democrat for the Senate and won, while Charlie Crist failed in his primary campaign, and tried to mount a campaign as an Independent, and failed. That, and the love and admiration of a gratefull nation for Joe Liberman's achievements and steady hand, while Crist has become nothing other than a joke in Florida, and an unknown in the nation.
Lay off the Nyquil, Grandpa...
What I said was that Davis speaking at the Democratic Convention won't swing any African-American votes to Romney, and Biden's remark about chains won't either. And don't look at the numbers of women favoring Obama in Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Florida, or we'll have to put you on suicide watch.
Hey, given the kind of week the Republicans had last week, it's understandable that you'd be grasping at straws and doing a lot of cemetery whistling, but you really ought to try to find an easier audience.
And you're telling us you approve of Lieberman caucusing with the Democrats? And the consensus is Akin just handed the Senate to the Democrats...
There's no question the Republican party has moved way to the right, and like lemmings, they'll engage in some wholesale cliff jumping this time around. Well, except lemmings don't really dive off cliffs, but Teapublicans do...
Not hardly. Crist (not Christ) saw the light and became an independent...guess he just couldn't stomach all the lying rhetoric and the "my way or the highway" mentality the GOP is now so famous (or is that infamous?) for.
You missed it again, Keith. You lose...soprano-boy.
Crist became an independant when the polls showed he was in the bottom of the barrel of Senate Primary candidates in the Republican primary. And his independent campaign went nowhere! Liberman was barely beaten by a retired at age 48 billionaire who spent nearly 100 million of his own money running a television anti-war campaign in the Democrat Party primary in 2006, then ran as an Independant Democrat against the left winger Democrat with party backing and the Republican Party candidate, and beat both with a vote that totaled more than both of their's combined.
See the difference?
Keith's got his Etch-a-Sketch working...
He didn't answer the question on whether he approved of Joe Libermann's caucusing with the Democrats...
Crist could've easily won a second term as governor, but opted for the Senate instead. And note the Etch-a-Sketch move again, not mentioning the outside money funneled to Marco Rubio...
You want to talk about outside money? How about the $2 million dollars that Democrats poured into the Republican Party Primary in Missouri to assure that Rep. Atkins be the most defeatable Tea Party candidate to face incumbant Claire McKaskil, Cab Driver?
OK, let's discuss "outside money". That $2M is mere pocket change to somebody like Adelson - he probably has that much in his shoes trying to make himself taller...and much of that money seems to be pouring in from Macau...as in China. Can you get much more "outside" than that? Doubtful...highly doubtful.
If you really stop and think about it, Keith, at the end of the day, who comes out looking more idiotic about this? Hint...said miscreant begins with an "R". Seems the Republicans don't quite know how to handle Akins...Huckabee defends him as do some other conservative evangelicals, Coulter would like to neuter him with dull razor blades and chopsticks, Rush tells anyone who listens to him to not say anything to/for/about Akins for fear it'll make the R's look dumber about it (HA!), Romney/Ryan wish he'd fall off the face of the earth somewhere out of sight of Tampa, and Priebus can only stammer and stutter when asked about him.
Republicans can only hold themselves accountable if they, in their constant fanatical pursuit of the almighty dollar, accepted the contribution. Everybody seems to know where it came from...are you suggesting the MO Republicans couldn't figure it out either?
You just can't fix stupid. Republicans continue to prolifically prove that.
Mitt Romney, according to scripture, is the antichrist. (2 John 7-11)
Why aren't evangelicals and other Christians standing up for Jesus and the word of truth about those who have run ahead and not continued in the teachings of Christ.
Could it be they are liars just like Romney and Paul Ryan and share in their wicked work. For even now many antichrists have come. (1 John 2:18-23)
Last I looked, the Mormon's have both the Holy Bible and The Book of Morman as their religious foundation. You left wingnut bigots would do well to have watched NBC's documentary on Romney and the Mormon Church; might relieve you of your anti-Mormon hate and poison spreading penchant, ignorant fools!
I did watch the documentary, Fuzzie, and as soon as they brought Jan Shipps out, I knew the fix was in... Here are some things they left out...
Joseph Smith was armed and fired on the mob that stormed Carthage Jail. He was there because he'd used his position as Mayor of Nauvoo to order the destruction of a printing press that issued a broadside exposing his practice of "plural marriage" to women, some married, and some as young as 14.
Mormons were not "chased from Kirtland, Ohio," Joseph Smith and first counselor Sidney Rigdon fled town in the middle of the night after a banking fraud scandal they were up to their eyeballs in went south... He'd used bank vault boxes filled with rocks and lead and covered with a layer of silver coins as "collateral."
Mormons in Missouri were charged with counterfeiting and stealing from the other settlers. In the "Battle of Crooked River," Mormons under the command of David W. Patten fired first on Missouri Militia. This act led to Governor Boggs' "Extermination Order" where, in order to prevent further civil war, he ordered the Mormons exiled... Mormons wear that one as a "badge of persecution" when it was anything but.
Mitt Romney's g-g-grandfather, Parley P. Pratt, was charged with murder for a cold-blooded killing at Crooked River. He later escaped jail, and eight years later, when Pratt was murdered by the husband of a man he'd made his 12th wife (and tried to help her kidnap her children in New Orleans where her estranged husband had sent them). he was still traveling under an alias in order to evade the Missouri warrant.
There's more, but you haven't got enough poker chips in your entire pension fund to even sit at the same table with me on this one. As for the "Book of Mormon," you're not smart enough or educated enough to understand the DNA issues, but that geneticist friend of mine I've mentioned reviewed the scientific literature and there is zero evidence for Hebrews in the New World circa 600 B.C. The BOM claims tens of thousands were slain in battles over the centuries, and yet there is no archaeological evidence anywhere on either continent. And it's a racist document that spoke of a curse of "darkness" being put on Native Americans after they rejected their prophets' teaching and destroyed the "light-skinned Nephites."
Okay, Mormon joke time:
Q: What do Mitt Romney's tax returns and the golden plates have in common?
A: We're supposed to take them both on faith...
Q: What's the difference between those tax returns and the golden plates?
A: More people were permitted to see the plates...
You are one fixated, obsessive nut case bigot when it comes to anything dealing with the Mormon faith, aren't you, Cab Driver. I still think its because your wife left you for a Mormon lover when you were at your worst with your admitted practicing alcoholism, and that is the source of all your scorn and angst!
Wife didn't leave me Grandpa. Get the voices in your head to toss another scenario out there. Now you want to talk about why you're single?
Didn't think so... Of course I get to go to meetings for my alcoholism, but your narcissism has a worse prognosis... And I've succeeded at something you've failed at miserably, becoming a reasonably honest man...
Now how about trying to discuss the soft-pedaled history that MSNBC ran (I'm sending Chris Matthews a hot e-mail suggesting Chuck Todd stick to number crunching, and we historians can do our thing; there are plenty of others who feel as I do). Care to bring some facts to the table on that one?
Didn't think so on that one, either...
It's not my obsession. I left my 27 year old marriage after three years of the empty nest syndrome, and like most marriages, it had a lot of good times and mutually supportive times in it, but had some rocky moments too, such as the 1 year I was a single parent when my wife came under the influence of several of her approaching 40 female workmates who convinced her the best thing she could do for herself, as they had done, is to separate for a while as a wife and mother, and take time for herself, and do things that she hadn't had the opportunity to do for herself in years. Part of what women's liberation had morphed into in the early 1980s. When I was pushing 50 in the late 80s, and no longer having to be the chief family breadwinner, I left my position of job security New England and took the opportunity to take on a change of career path in the Pacific Northwest, which resulted in my marriage ending, but not until our children were well along the way in their own young adult lives, and in their careers.
I congratulate your ex-wife on her ability to grow, and her friends who encouraged her...
Note that Grandpa doesn't take any responsibility, but once again offers nothing but excuses... Dadburned bra-burning feminists, anyway... If women just knew their place!
And for the record, Fuzzie, I was single when I sobered up; reunited with the lady I was with when that happened, and later got a painful grad school education in the dynamics of codependency. 'Nuff said, but that's how I knew you were full of it when you brought the subject up... Some of my friends in alcoholism treatment are among the country's leading luminaries on the subject, and we still exchange experience and ideas.
I was nearly 20 years continuously sober before my daughter was born, and she's never seen me take a drink of alcohol nor have I for over thirty years.
You don't need any more IRL stuff from me than that, however. You're free to honor Mitt and his mendacity with your own distortions and dissembling. You will anyway.
First, my question is......will his tax return show he lied and used Salt Lake as his home state when he filed? If so then he had No right to be Gov. Which I think he knows. Which is why he won't show them. Which in turn would make him unable to be president. {Can you spell} FELONY! Secondly, no matter who you vote for........please follow this. Should children, students, and seniors suffer. Cutting lunches, food stamps, pell grants, and programs that help the elderly has that what this country has come to?
What this country has come to is a crossroads where the desire to be everything to everybody in a runaway largesse of social and entitlement spending has raised the real possibility that our credit rating continues to decline, that our children and grandchildren will suffer enormously for it, that over 40c and growing of every dollar the federal government spends is borrowed money, that we are now using over $250 billion of our declining tax revenues (due to a declining economy) each year to pay the interest on the the growing national debt of $16 Trillion, up almost $6 billion in just the last 4 years. This election is a chance to try to get that dangerous and self defeating path changed for the better. The future doensn't have to be a bankrupt Medicare and Social Security Trust Funds, and $.50 of very dollar spent borrowed, and $500 billion of ever declining tax revenue going to pay the spiraling higher due to declining credit ratings interest rates on $25 Trillion of National Debt by 2024, as the Obama path has us on.
Oviously I mispoke above; the national debt is up $6 Trillion in the last 4 years, not $6 Billion. And we are about to breach that debt limit again by Labor Day, about the time the Democrats are convening in their coronation convention of King Obama, King of the deficit spenders. The fix of Nov, 2011 that raised the debt limit didn't even last 9 months, apparently, under this President and his colleagues in the Democrat controlled Senate, who haven't passed a budget in violation of the law of the land since April, 2009.
I grew up in the Deep South in the 50s and 60s and have seen racism first hand. There are two kinds of racists – those who dislike people of a different color, and those who encourage them to act against people of a different color. You don't have to feel it in order to deal it, as it happens. The worst kind of racist is the encourager, often they are politicians. Romney is that kind of racist, and is running that kind of racist campaign. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, racist is as racist does.
And another kind of racist is the one who panders to people of color with rhetoric and token shows of affinity, while turning a blind eye on their declining economic state and stess on their families that the wrong headed policies bring about.
Letting the water out of the canal of economic progress to lower some yachts in the water or a rising tide that lifts all boats; that is the choice we have to make. And likability has nothing to do with that choice...or racial affinity, The 50s..
You must be referring to Mitt whenever he's sucking up to middle class white voters.
No argument about that from me...
Keith Longey, I pray that God will open your eyes of understanding to the truth. You have been beguiled by evil men and impostors. These men will go from bad to worse--deceiving and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3)
Is not a joke at all, this man is unable to have a human smile, a real laugh, his mouth do something maybe similar to smiling, but his eyes are cold, they are never in the same page. at this time in the election he still needs to tell his nuts base ,that is really the one.really sad.
Are you describing Obama? That's a little hard, though I can see where you got the visual impression, Taty. He's certainly not the man of "hope and change", and his anger of frustration that some people are insisting at looking at his record, and his inability to correct the course he set, is apparant daily too. He looks tired and defeated, and the campaign hasn't yet begun.
"He tried...he tried...but he failed. It's alright to make a change"
Keith Longey, I pray that God will open your eyes of understanding to the truth. You have been beguiled by evil men and impostors. These men will only go from bad to worse--deceiving and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3)
he is pure and simple racist, the reason why nobody ask for his birth certificate is obviously because he is white , always said something hurtful, and when is caught try to deny it,remember cutting the hair to a classmate because was different, but every time somebody talk for him or is a joke, his wife ,surrogates do the talk, pathetic.
The only thing different about that classmate was that his hair was inordinately long, like the hippies of the early 60s, for the style of cut that the young men of the prep school wore. Nothing racists in that lighthearted hazing action, Taty. This country is made up primarily of white immigrants. Some were born here, some were not. Your statement is pattently illogical, filled with non sequiters.
Keith...nobody appointed the Mitt as sole judge and jury of what other peoples personal style choices might be. The fact that "he thought it was wrong" is inconsequential...it wasn't his decision to make nor his right to take matters into his own hands.
That's a major problem with the R's...they think everybody should think as they do...no exceptions.
And here all this time Mitt and the R's have been bellyaching about how they want to be the party of "less" government, and then along comes this history of Mitt and his scissors, inflicting his values on somebody else. "Lighthearted" hazing"? If his dad hadn't been governor at the time, it would have been "assault", and you could probably have tacked on "with a dangerous weapon" to the charge. But no, the Romney's considered themselves privileged then, and, as Mitt and Ann have shown in their speech and actions, they still do.
Could be an overriding factor why Mitt isn't going to win this time around either.
Yep...nothing says "I'm one of the people" quite like pressed jeans. And I think that pundit was right...they DO look like they were cut for girls.
You'er going to equate a prep school youth's early 60s hazing incident as the moral equivalent of daily marijuana and alcohol consumption with a little Cocaine sprinkled in for good measure as law breaking? Have at it, Eyes Wide Shut.
And exam your man, Obama, deciding against the laws of the land passed by Congress to 1) raid the Medicare Trust Fund of $716 Trillion for ObamaCare that includes forcing the provision of oral contraceptives and surgical sterilization and abortion procedures on the Churches that hold those as immoral practices, 2) overrules the decisions of Congress not to allow illegal immigrants under age 30 to be deported unless they have committted felony level crimes, 3) refuses to support in Federal Courts the Defense of Marriage Act passed by the Congress of the United States, and 4) Provides by executive fiat anti-Welfare to Work Waivers, destroying the Congressional setting or rules and regulations of Work and/or Education or Job Training to be able to continue receiving TANF federal benefits past the initial first 2 years.
Sounds to me that is the kind of "sole judge and jury" that your supposedly educated Constitutional Law Scholar is, and will continue to be if elected to another 4 years...in Spades!
I'm not equating anything, Keith, you're projecting your own slant on something I never said, Keith. Another Longey-style attempt at deflection? Truly sad. But thanks for the update...I hadn't heard that Mitt did drugs while in prep school. Wow...when THAT gets out...
And you're lying again too...
I know you're getting on in years and are very feeble, so let me make this as easy as I can for you, ol' biased-one...here is a step by step plan to get you back on the tracks, if such a thing is at all possible:
1. Look at the top of this blog to the story line.
2. It's about the subject of Mitt's pandering statement about his birth certificate.
3. Has nothing whatsoever to do with Obama's admitted drug use while young, your bogus claims about his Medicare plan, your bogus claims about Obama gutting the Welfare-to-Work program, your bogus claims about congressional rule setting, or any of your other numerous bogus claims.
I think he's already passed enough tests...he easily makes your guy look like the chump that he is.
Train wreck in CT! Clean-up crew to Wethersfield. Film at 11...
Once again...you lose, soprano-boy.
Yea he was born in the USA. He should know better but his treasures are not keeping it in the USA that's the mega difference. Ha!
2.5% only of the Romneys millions in their Blind Trusts invested in perfectly legal high income off shore funds and cash bank accounts for higher income capability and diversification. And they are not tax sheltered investments. So you missed the mark there with that intended arrow, Universal Source.
I have always said Romney was going to come out of the closet about African Americans. It just too a little longer than I expected. Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann and others were doing an excellent job for him. When Hermann Cain played the race card by saying the President is not a true African American and the stupid Alan West talking about get out the the United States, then you know there will be at least 2 of those people voting for Romney. They are too stupid to realize they are the blunt of "my best friend is a Black man" jokes when they are not in the room and mainly told by Romney and friends.
Mitt is over 65 years old. If he is that stupid or has that little self-control then there's no way he should be president. I gave Reagan a pass on his apparent senility because he was a nice person. But Mitt reminds me of Nixon, mentally disturbed, seriously mentally disturbed and a criminal.
BirtherMitt doesn't have a vision. He can't run on his poilicies because even racist white peeps would run from him. No he playing the dozens with PBO who is a master at the game.
I will say it again. In November 2012, PBO will get 85% of the popular vote. He will have a filibuster proof House (300) and a filibuster proof Senate (between 65 and 70).
