Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan (file)
Is Team Romney's vague messaging on the Romney-Ryan budget plan due to Romney campaign incompetence or intentional lack of specificity?
Let's start with the incompetence argument. Mitt Romney tapped adviser Beth Myers to lead his VP search on April 16. Romney announced his pick on August 11. That means the Romney campaign had at least 117 days to define their messaging on potential VP outcomes. Seems like plenty of time to get it right.
And yet the Romney campaign flubbed the messaging, with more time to prepare, on an equally predictable event: the Supreme Court ruling on the Affordable Care Act federal mandate. Following the ruling, Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom told MSNBC...
"The governor... disagrees with the Court's ruling that the mandate was a tax."
...before Mitt Romney said two days later on CBS News...
"The majority of the court said it's a tax and therefore it is a tax."
The Supreme Court agreed to hear the Affordable Care Act case on November 14, 2011. Their ruling arrived on June 28, 2012. That means the Romney campaign had at least 227 days to define their messaging on potential SCOTUS outcomes. Seems like plenty of time to get it right, and yet they got it wrong.
As far as the 'intentional lack of specificity' argument, consider this quote from a Romney advisor in Politico today...
"The nature of running a presidential campaign is that you’re communicating direction to the American people... Campaigns that are about specifics, particularly in today’s environment, get tripped up."
And Romney said this to the Weekly Standard in April...
“One of the things I found in a short campaign against Ted Kennedy was that when I said, for instance, that I wanted to eliminate the Department of Education, that was used to suggest I don’t care about education... So will there be some that get eliminated or combined? The answer is yes, but I’m not going to give you a list right now.”
The guy likes his vagueness. So, vague messaging on the Romney-Ryan plan — intentional, or incompetence, or a little of both?

Picking Ryan is pretty much all the evidence of incompetence you'll ever need.
Is that why President Obama started his press conference defending what he has done to medicaid? The Obama administration are scared to death, because Ryan knows these numbers inside and out. In 2010 President Obama ( you can watch it on video ) praised Ryan's work on budget reform, he also stated that he didn't agree with some of it and a big discussion was needed.
Ryan changes everything because he knows where the President and his staff have been vague on health care and have been able to quiet the left with his knowledge of the truth.
As for the budget talks, All President Obama has is that he doesn't like the Ryan plan. So he wants to do nothing and that is a better plan than not spending money we don't have? As for President Obama's last budget proposal, he didn't get ONE vote from anybody. That plan was so far off base that he could even get his own followers to vote for it.
Ryan doesn't know crap. He's part of the problem, voted for almost everything that raised the budget.
At least there is a plan! We've been waiting 4 long years for Obama's plan. Could you please espouse his plan for all of us? Obama is the 1st president in the entire 225+ year history of the United States to have never passed a budget, after 3+ long years, although it is required under the Constitution. Quite interesting. Ask Senator Majority Leader Reid for his input. He doesn't want a budget to be passed either. Without a budget, you can spend whatever you damn well please.
Hey Mike, I thought they had the Internet in Georgia...
Maybe it was buying that fly swatter the other night, but listening to all this buzzing is making the ol' road rage act up (plus some old childhood memories; my mother used hers on my hind end when she caught me telling whoppers).
History background: In 2010, Republicans assumed the majority in the House of Representatives. Per the Constitution, all spending bills must originate in the House...
In 2010, the Obama Administration submitted a budget to Congress (in fact, they have every year as required by law). Congress passed it... You can read about it here in The Wall Street Journal. I know it's a Yankee publication, but it is owned these days by Rupert Murdoch of whom you may heard...

Congress Approves Obama's 3.6 Trillion Dollar Budget
The House and Senate Thursday approved their versions of a fiscal 2010 budget that included President Barack Obama's biggest priorities, giving the president a significant victory as he works to shift the government's direction from the Bush era.
Now I was about to fire up the ol' police interceptor and serve up some more rhetorical roadkill to go with your grits (see below), and I probably would've asked who the cuckoo clock at FAUX Noise was who fed you that shinola. I would've bet on Hannity, and I would've been wrong, but this is the 21st Century, and even cabbies know how to Google....
The culprit is an old Louisiana swamp rat, Buddy Roemer...
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/aug/05/buddy-roemer/obama-submitted-budgets/
[Buddy Roemer] Says Obama has never submitted a budget, and Congress has worked for two years without passing one.
So we turned to the experts, checking the public record and reaching out to five economists across the political spectrum.
Not true, they all say.
Asked to back this statement up with facts, the Roemer campaign declined to comment.
Now you're free to point out that a prominent pundit has called PolitiFact into question and question its credibility, but there's one problem.
That pundit is MSNBC's own Rachel Maddow...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/11/rachel-maddow-politifact-zombies_n_1508860.html
I sympathize with Dr. Maddow on PoltiFact's overall bias and unreliability--particularly when encountering brain dead zombies--but they got it right on Roemer...
You were punked by one of your own, this time, Reb...
A slight factual correction: Republicans won control of the U.S. House in 2010. They thus assumed control beginning in 2011. The 2010 Obama Budget was passed when the Democrats had control of Congress.
"A slight factual correction..." Slight! Seemed that little factual correction destroyed entirely your argument that preceeded it. And who exactly cares about what Buddy Roemer thinks or says? He isn't on the Republican ticket, and up until his recent withdrawal deep in debt, he was running a hopeless and hapless Independent campaign, without staff...kind of a one man show.
The Anerican voter did sweep the deficit spending crazed Dems out of office taking control of the House in the Nov elections of 2009 after "the Presidents 2010 fiscal year budget was passed". The year that followed the passage of that deficit ridden budget, which followed on the budget busting $1.6 trillion year of fiscal 2009, which ended Sep 30th, 2009, that deficit spending caused by a run amok Democratic Part y control of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and their boy-man amateur President in the White House, the nation saw the unemployment rate go to its higest levels of nearly 10%, almost 4% points higher than at anytime in the George Bush Administration. Seems all that deficit spending, going on $6 trillion of such by Dec, 2012 in just four years, only got us "another day older and deeper in debt" (Tennessee Ernie Ford).
Now since that time, the Obama budgets for fiscal year 2011, 2012 submitted have both failed to obtain a single vote in Congress and the Senate, being perceived as nothing other than leaving the road to ruin for the superhighway of jet fueled vechicle racing to the blow through every debt and deficit control barrier one could think to put up to stop the madness. NOT ONE SINGLE VOTE. That means even the loose pocket book Democrat Congressmen and women (those that were left after 2009 Election) and/or a Democrat Senator, wanted to have anything to do with those budgets or the President's Plans.
We are leaderless. 120 rounds of golf this year by Barry, going on his 216th Fund raising event since January. Streadily out campaigning since Labor Day of last year. Boucoup time away from the drag of the White House...got to keep up the spirits, you know? And for his work? Only two Cabinet Meetings this year, only two meetings with his vaunted Councils charged with development of plans for "growing" jobs, and the nation's economic oversight asnd improvement. And as to his communication responsibilities, only one press conference, that last one held in March, and a disastrous one that is, as the President answered questions about the state of unemployment and the anemic econonomic growth rate with these words: "The Private Sector is doing fine....it's the Public sector employment that isn't doing well", and went on with his plan to tax and borrow to send more money out to the states and spend some too in Washington, DC to hire more public employees."
Come to think of it, if that is the best idea Obama has, than maybe its best that he stopped talking to the press, stopped working in the White House, and played more golf and went on his fund raising junkets. Because that kind of talk would surely get him fired! But I believe Mr. Romney and Mr. Ryan will be making those points throughout the debates, and the campaigning to come after the convention next week, as they lay out their vision and their plan for getting this bus that the Democrats and this Chicago JIVE TALKING Amateur President thought they could push and drive out of "the ditch" of a recession caused by a financial crisis of global proportions, but only got firmly mired in the mud. And the only hope they have of getting re-elected, and maintaing POWER for powers sake, is to get to throwing around just as much of that mud as possible, expecially at the opposition.
Let's send Obama, and his mud slinging campaign of devisiveness, anger, and hatred back to Chicago in Nov, and put some people in office that have a plan to get us back on the road to private sector prosperity again, and full employment, rather than this debt ridden public sector employment and endless unemployment compensation/welfare (without work or job training requirements)/food stamp failed and always would be failing non-plan for the future. Romney/Ryan - 2012.
Grandpa wasn't around last night, so I'm guessing this glop is just hangover hollering...
Mike claimed that Obama had never followed the law in participating in the budget process.
Which is pure bull@!$%# on the order of the stuff Grandpa regularly posts here, I showed that Congress passed the budget he submitted in 2010, and accurately noted that after the election--the budget approval occurred early in the year; the election was later, I'm really worried about your ability to understand the concept of a timetable, let alone plain English. That was unclear the way I originally wrote it, but the fact is the House hasn't permitted Obama's budgets to reach the floor since, and Buddy Roemer is a damn liar. And Mike acted as a tool in passing on those turds, and the only possible explanations are he was unaware of the background information, or he chose to ignore it
So is Paul Ryan... See my post below...
Mike (and Keith, too), unfortunately, the grand old party depends upon the ignorance or lack of interest in learning the truth of people like you. Your ill-placed dislike of our President in favor of a "group of your own" (who think about as much of you "non-1%er" Republicans as they think of the average Democrat) causes you to be willing to vote for someone who NEVER tells the truth and demonstrably does NOT have your best interest at heart.
Also, a not-so-small point of fact: The last time there was a surplus at the federal level, it was under a Democrat (Clinton), and we all know what happened after your party got into power. With respect to the current spending level, check out any economics 101 course if you care to understand the place of deficit spending in jump-starting economic growth.
You've been bamboozled in a major way by your own party. I would be inclined to feel sorry for you if you did not have the right to vote, but since you probably do, I am even more inclined to feel sorry for the rest of us who share the electorate with such as you.
I was working and living in Massachusetts when Romney ran for Governor, was elected Governor, and served as Governor. I saw him erase a $2.6 billion deficit run up by a free spending heavily Democrat contolled legislature, balance the state's budget while cutting taxes, improve the states educational systems K thru 12 both qualitatively and the physical school buildings throughout the state, and take the states job growth from the terrible ranking of 51st in the nation to 30th, bringing in over 50,000 new high paying jobs to the state, and getting the unemployment rate 1% lower than the avg of 5.6% nationally. And Romney's administration left the administration to follow a $1 billion rainy day fund.
The surplus left by Clinton was not money floating around. It was the incoming tax receipts in Jan thru April of 2001 mostly from the capital gains taxes being paid due to institutions and individuals having bolted in 2000 from the bursting bubble of the tech startup led stock market (Nasdaq is still only 1/2 the level that it was at the beginning of 2000). And the national debt at the end of the Clinton Administration was over 5.8 Trillion dollars, even with the Republican revolution in Congress that forced Clinton to moderate his early deficit spending on social welfare programs, and have a balanced budget...he was dragged kicking and screaming into relative austerity and welfare reform by the Republicans in the House and Senate.
"Check out an Economics 101 course"? I hold a BA awarded Magna Cum Laude with three majors, Public Administration and Economics and English Language Arts.
As to stimulus, we've had $4.5 trillion of deficit spending in eight years of George Bush in 8 years, and closing in on $6 trillion of stimulis deficit spending in Barrack Obama's 4 years of office. That's been tried and found wanting over a 12 year period. Time to get back to trimming the new welfare society built up in the past 4 years. Time to get off the private sectors back with excessive regulations and threats to tax every time the President opens his economics ignorant mouth. Time to unleash our fossile fuel energy resource development and use (especially coal, our cheapest and most abundant and reliable resource for electricity production). And time to reform our tax codes (the ultimate stimulus, leaving the money in the peoples' and businesses' and corporations' hands), and reform our having grown like topsy government employee rolls, reform our out of contol and soon to go bankrupt entitlement programs. Lots of work to do to correct the spiral downward caused by the stupid policies of this Amateur President, Barrack Hussein Obama, a redistribute the wealth Nationalist Socialist.
Get the picture, RJJB?
Grandpa hates to be fact checked on this stuff, but the way he engages in Olympic level manure tossing, it's an absolute necessity... MItt Romney didn't "erase" Massachusetts' deficit, he just "restructured much of it with bond debt."
http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2012/06/04/494282/5-facts-about-the-massachusetts-economy-under-mitt-romney/?mobile=nc
Romney left Massachusetts residents with $10,504 in per capita bond debt, the highest of any state in the nation when he left office in 2007. The state ranked second in debt as a percentage of personal income. Romney regularly omits those statistics from his Massachusetts record, instead touting the fact that he balanced the state’s budget (he was constitutionally required to do so). He wouldn’t be much different as president: his proposed tax plan adds more than 10 trillion to the national debt.
Other noteworthy observations that point to why his record as Massachusetts governor is "as off-limits as his religion."
• Ranked 47th in job growth
• Suffered the second-largest labor force decline in the nation
• Lost 14 percent of its manufacturing jobs
• Experienced “below average” economic growth and was “often near the bottom”
And oh, wow...
Massachusetts lost 14 percent of its manufacturing jobs during Romney’s time in office, according to Sum. The loss was double the rate that the nation as a whole lost manufacturing jobs. In 2004, Romney vetoed legislation that would have banned companies doing business with the state from outsourcing jobs to other countries.
As for that degree, check out the way he routinely butchers grammar and syntax while claiming that education in English Language Arts. I'm not an economist, but i was a certified English teacher here for many years, and well, artful he ain't... He also claimed expertise when he first got here on alcoholism treatment (I've bet my life on what I've learned there for over 30 years), and he wasn't even a competent buzzword jockey in that area. Personally, my take is be majored in strawman slaying and ad hominems... They're also big on those subjects at Mitt's alma, BYU...
SLC
Who wasn't magnum anything because of a few quarters back then, but I did manage the dean's list a couple of times after I sobered up
During Romney's term of office, Gemeral Motors closed down plants in Massaachusetts. Added to that, the tool and die industry, once the leading manufacturing industry in New England along with textiles, were headed out or New England from every state for Mexico and China, due to intiatives in trade negotiated and signed by Democrat Administration of Bill Clinton.
The 47th in growth RATE figure does not represent the actual growth of jobs, nor the improvement from the nominal growth which took the state from 51st to 30th in the nation,.
After Health Services, Massachusetts largest "industry", post highschool college and university Education, draws a large number of individuals from other states to become residents of Massachisetts, and when they graduate, they often leave for other for other states and jobs opportunities nationally. And Massachusetts did not have any figures for the loss of poplulation, especially retiring individuals, than did any other New England State as the phenonomen of the egress to the Sun Belt state was underway.
You can and you do persist in lying with statistics that are meaningless when you understand the trends that produce them (a LITTLE knosledge is a dangerous thing), but for those who lived and worked in Massachisetts, we know just how successful Mitt Romney was as our Governor.
It's pretty clear Grandpa drinks liberally of the Teapublican Kool-Aid where "down is up and up is down" and now he has the chutzpah to holler that I'm lying when I'm truthing...
Let's look at the Massachusetts poll numbers to see how well Mitt-for-Brains is "loved" up there...
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/06/27/1103596/-Poll-Romney-trounced-in-nbsp-Massachusetts
is Grandpa Fuzz going to suggest that Romney will win Massachusetts' Electoral College votes? Or is he just evidence of what a Reagan historian identified now as a party of intolerance and intoxication? Why, incidentally, didn't Romney run for a second term? And he's not going to carry New Hampshire, either... In fact, the only state he's going to carry where he's had a home and lived is Planet Utah...
Uh oh, trouble brewing along the Mason-Dixon line, and a Missouri congressman running for senate shoots self in the hind end... Karl Rove Super-Pac, Americans for Prosperity, has pulled out of funding attack ads in the Show-Me state...
Poll among women voters: Obama 53%, Romney 36%
You need to find an easier game, Fuzzy... Even as I note a few cognitive cogs slipping on the downside of 50, I do remember you identifying yourself as a Connecticut resident a few weeks ago and hollering about the direction Massachusetts had taken... BTW, the clinical evidence on "alcoholic brain damage" you smeared me with after I nailed you in the honesty department was settled years ago. I got lucky, admittedly, but there was no measurable brain damage from eight yeats of active alcoholism. Can't say the same about that Nyquil you're apparently swilling, although it's possible it just might be from watching FAUX too much...
And in the laugh-track department, did you see yesterday's Parade magazine where O'Reilly claimed when he was a history teacher he was the "original Welcome Back Kotter?" That from a guy who's biography of Lincoln was rejected by Ford Theater historians because he made references to the Oval Office which wasn't added to the White House until 1909...
"Knosledge"? That some sort of Jewish noodle dish?
Massachusetts was the only state in the Union to cast its electoral votes for George McGovern, and I doubt that Mr. Romney, who won statewide office, is going to overcome the decided advantage Democrats have in national elections in that state.
But he will do well enough there in the popular vote. However, I live in Connecticut now, and I see where due to recent polling this state of Connecticut is now listed as leaning to Obama only, instead of formerly sure for Obama. Seems that the number of "swing states", or electoral votes deemed up for grabs, is increasing instead of shrinking, even after the hundreds of millions the later to be found comparatively underfunded Obama campaign ha wasted on attack adds on Mr. Romneys personal life, his character, and his political and political ethics, Cab Driver.
The President submits a "budget request" (is is what I would like)... congress takes the request and cuts and adds the stuff they want, then they present the "formal budget" (this is your allowance, don't spend it all in one place). The President then accecpts the budget or vetos it.... Congress can force him to take it with a veto override..... or start all over again.
And the one that blew the "budget process" was Bush, when he didn't include both wars in any of his budgets, they need to be accounted for somewhere.
Maybe they're being vague because it's safer than being caught in a bald-faced lie...
This one exposing Paul Ryan blaming Obama for a GM closing in '09 that occurred in '08 when Bush was still in office is pretty telling... A honk of my horn to Keith Olbermann on Twitter for this Daily Kos story...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_CYS35IHeE&feature=youtu.be
Maybe some of my regular rhetorical roadkills can offer some "style advice" to the wannabe veep on what to do when you're caught arguing over the speeding ticket.... He didn't do too well on his "stimulus money acceptance speech" earlier today...
Is this really how multi millionare CEOs plan and make decisions? The only thing he has going for him is the continual lying, taking comments out of context, flip-flopping, voter supression and, most importantly, Citizens United.
What exactly was the context of the Press Conference statement in March from a clueless, anti business sector collectivist Barrack Obama "The private sector is doing fine, it's govenment employment that is down". The context there was a direct answer to the question put to him of "Why is our unemployment rate so high, and our nations growth rate so low."
What was the context of his remarks in Virginia in June that "If you have a business, you didn't build that...somebody else did that!" Seemed to me he preceeded that with these comments made to businessmen and women: "You man think you are smart..well, I have news for you, there are a lot of smart people out there, and you may think you work hard, but there are a lot of hard working people out there." When you read the context, the statement gets even worse!
Barrack Obama is nothing other than a Nationalist Socialist...he wants bigger and bigger govenment, more and more govenment intrusion (even ownership in the private sector corporations and funding of of them through borrowed and taxed dollars), and he want's, more than anything else, to simply be the one who calls the shots on how wealth in this country will be REDISTRIBUTED by the government, not on the basis of people being smart, hard working, and successfully industrious, but by having access to jobs in the padded roles of bigger governments (national, state, and municipal), endless unemloyment benefits, welfare without work or job training requirements, and living on the government dole of food stamps. He wants the top income earning 25% of the people to pay 95% of the tax burden, and wants to get to and keep over 50% of the people mired in near poverty level condidtions to assure the Democrats have a built in voter support system of big government dependant takers in our society.
That's the deficit/debt and expensive and inefficient bio-fueled, wind, and sun energy fueled highway to HELL, folks. But that is Obama's plan and vision in a nutshell. And nuts it is! Romney/Ryan - 2012.
Man, that horse you're beating, Grandpa, is so dead and bloated it's hard to get within fifty yards, the smell is so putrid.
Back to remedial grammar: The President's whole statement was referencing this "great American system" that allowed people to build successful businesses. He noted that successful business people that benefitted from this infrastructure didn't build the infrastructure itself.
Hard to tell if the Republicans are just playing stupid on this one or they really are that brain dead.
Maybe Grandpa can illuminate us? Are you really that thick, Fuzzie, or is it just a sham you've adopted to garner attention?
And I note you seem to have no problem insinuating the President has ties to the Chicago Mob--boy, that's a patriotic and supportive statement--but the least question about Romney's money being overseas is met with loud denunciations.
Pathetic...
Well, at least the Romney tax issue is a win-win for the Dems. Either he doesn't release them and loses, or he releases them and loses...
Casino manager is looking for you...
American corporations taxed at 35% rate, and the capital gains of stock and dividends of their bonds taxed at an additional 15% (after2003, used to be 20% under Clinton, and Obama would be it there again), amounts to an 50% now, and would be 55% of corporate profits going to the federal govenment, but they don't contribute to the infrastructure? And small businessmen and small businesswomen who run their enterprises as S corporations pay rates of their profits of as high as 35% now, and and would be just under 40% if Obama had his way, but they don't contribute to infrastructure?
Other than the superhighways of this nation, and the subsdidy to AmTrack, the infrastucture is paid by bonding by State and Local Governments, and direct returns of gasoline and diesel fuel taxes from the Federal Government and State Governments. And corporations and small business are the leading payers of the gasoline and diesel fuel taxes, and the investor class the leading purchasers of state and municipal bonds. "If you have a business...you didn't build it, somebody else did that!" Infamous...and you'll be hearing a lot of of that as a put down of the great collectivist Barrack Hussein Obama in the campaign ahead, especially the debates, so you'd best get the crap in your head sucked out of your ear canals so you can hear it loud and clear, Cab Driver.
Chicago politcal mob...that's different from the old gansta' political mob. These are the folks, and their descendants now, that stole Illinois's electoral votes in 1960 with fradulent precinct voting numbers as they let loose the everyone with a pulse to vote for $2 to $3 dollars of walking around money, fellons and immigrants mostly. But yes, there have been some shady characters also in Obama's financial past, dirty real estate con men and political bribers, I believe, right Cabbie?
And you really believe that the American people worried about their own taxes give a hoot about Romney's and the sick game the Dems are playing on that subject? I doubt it very much, Cab Driver. It's only of interest for the pro Obama media, like this puke for newtown network!
Hey Grandpa, have you been following the Mars rover story? President Obama orchestrated cuts to NASA, and they still managed that one... Now while you were holed up in the VA psych wards, grateful for pour souls that made you look good, the county engaged in a space program culminating in the moon landings in 1969.
The spin-offs of that effort were monumental, and they were the result of government funding. Those included solid state circuitry, photo-electric cells, the microwave oven, and the satellite technology that permits you to yell your lungs out at Lawrence very night.
You already flunked dam building 101, where the Bureau of Reclamation and the Army Corps of Engineers created massive sites for hydroelectric generators (no dam, no place to put them) that allowed us to defeat Germany and Japan in World War II.
And here's what the Corps of Engineers does with the Mississippi levees...
http://www.npr.org/2011/05/09/136056393/army-corps-makes-tough-calls-with-floods
Yes, their decisions are controversial, but they do offer huge benefits.
The Forest Service administers huge tracts of land that provide raw materials for housing and minerals for industry. The Bureau of Land management does the same, and I'm watching large numbers of oil and gas leases being put forward here...
Add the CDC and other health organizations that provide grants for research for those vaccinations that keep your precious grandchildren healthy...
The National Parks Service provides stewardship of natural wonders that draw tourists from around the world (I know; I make a few bucks off them), and income from the tourism industry helps offset the money drain that Mitt Romney and those like him orchestrated with their vulture capitalism practices.
Man, you certainly bought a toy cap pistol to this particular gunfight...
Under the Obama Administration there has been a 15% reduction of oil and gas exploration permits and production permits on federally controlled public lands from that of the George Bush Administration. Double that percentage number for the amount of forest products under harvest from federal controlled lands.
As to the Army Corps of Engineers, Republicans had proposed spending authorizations for a number of needed projects under those good folks for our navigable rivers, and ports in 2009, but the Dems were fearful of their base section of environmentalist liberal wingnuts, and they decided to go for a weird Recovery Act (NOT!)hodepodge of what Obama later joked were "not very shovel ready projects", coupled with Medicaid funding expansion, and direct transfer payments to the states to support their bloated state and municipal public employment rolls made possible by the tax revenues of the housing boom to bust economies of the 1995 to 2005 decade.
Bain Capital is a turnaround private equity investment firm with an 85% success rate with previously failing companies in troubled industries (like steel, textiles, apparel, and paper products manufacture), and provided us with several leading in their industries healthy corporations such as Verizon, Staples, and Sports Authority. Vulture capatalists are those that raid a corporation in bankruptcy to pick up devalued assets on the cheap, and then turn them over in the market at a profit. Bain's model was never that of a vulture capital firm. Mayor Cory Booker, ex Gov Ed Randel, present Gov Patrick Duval, ex-President Bill Clinton, and Obama's Auto Czar economist Ed Rattner, Democrats all, all knew that and said that, and told Obama his campaign was barking up the wrong tree alluding to such definition. But so it continues, parroted by economically ignorant fools such as yourself, a never finished your college studies Cab Driver with an alcohol damaged brain, but a big sense of self agrandizement and grandiosity.
/Reagan voice on
There you go again... Can't handle the message, so you scream at the messenger...
Your argument was the only aspect of the Federal government that was "legitimate" was the highway system, and I proved that wasn't so...
I didn't invite you to engage in namecalling, particularly the way you've smeared environmentalists... A few weeks ago you spoke of visiting Yellowstone; I have memories of West Yellowstone when there was extensive old growth forest around Heny's and Hebgen Lakes... I visited there again for the first time again in '89, and and there wasn't a lot of appeal in fields of waste-high Christmas trees, Tenderfoot... There was more appeal in the park at large the way it's recovered from the fires that you also blamed on tree huggers...
And put down the Nyquil, Grandpa... I finished the BA... I left the MA program in good standing trying to get a teaching job, but that wasn't going to happen on Planet Utah, which, apparently, is supposed to be the model for the rest of the country in large classrooms and teacher layoffs. I did another grad program in alcohol and drug abuse counseling, but seeing the psychopathology of my "colleagues" was a bit too unnerving. Of course i see now, you make them look good, but there are some decided similarities.
It's all someone else fault that you are mired in the life of a separated from family lonely Cab Driver....I see. A victim of progress and the times, instead of your own alcoholic penchant to quit when the going gets tough.
They are sitting in the woods waiting to come out blazing during the debates! They think they'll catch the Obama Campaign napping & not being prepared for the debates !! Beware Obama Campaign People ROMNEY & RYAN are both SNAKES!
Please, I like snakes... They contribute mightily to the ecosystem, are usually unobtrusive, eat rodents, and have otherwise been vilified since the days of Eve. And honest, I haven't shoved one in a gal's face since I was in junior high... Just live and let live with them okay?
I have proposed hyenas as a suitable metaphor, or possibly jackals, but I'm open to suggestion.... Buzzard or vulture might work; it certainly describes Mitt's business practices...
BTW, the gal interviewed in this one is a friend of mine. You're welcome to read it while we all wait for the debates and the deluge of stink bomb attack ads we know the Koch suckers are planning....

Can you imagine the poor staffer that is assigned to prepare gaffer Joe Biden to debate facts and figures on the economy and the fiscal situation with Chairman of the House Budget Committee and Republican VP candidate Paul Ryan? What a thankless job that is! LOL!
Gonna be tough for the Vice President. Arguing with a shameless and proven liar always is...
I know...
Ryan will twist old gaffer Joe in some many knots he will look like a Pennsylvania Dutch Pretzel when he's done with him. And liberal bigot and racially insenstive Joe will be blushing a wonderful shade of scarlet red when he gets contronted and taken to task for his infamous race baiting remark made in Virginia this last week to 600 black ralliers: "Romney (and Ryan) wlll put the CHAINS BACK on YOU'ALL!
Grandpa, I made a typo a week ago when I mentioned Obama and the Mormon vote... My silly error, but it's nothing on par with what you just suggested.
You want to suggest that President Obama won't pull 95% of the African-American vote again? And upwards of 70% of the Latino vote--Romney is polling 25%--and even Fox has the President beating Mitt-for-brains 53-43 among women...
And you missed this one or tried to dance around it...

And I'm wondering how Lyin' Ryan is going to explain this story...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/17/paul-ryan-gm-federal-funds_n_1799515.html?utm_hp_ref=elections-2012
He's already had to walk back the story about turning down stimulus money...
And we haven't even got to the subject of women's heatlh issues, abortion rights, and contraception...
I have no doubt that Obama will get upwards to 90% of the Black voters, and up to 65% of the hispaniv voters....those that actually are both registered to vote AND will be motivated to go to the polls. And thats a big difference than the percentage of blacks and hispanics to the overall population, Cab Driver.
And regarding the Hispanic vote, the electoral votes of California for Obama will be cancelled by the electoral votes of Texas and Arizona for Romney, so that up to 65% of the Hispanic vote going for Obama is really a meaningless factor, when you look at the influence in the states with the largest percentages of hispanic peoples.
I love the way you defend democracy, oh patriotic one....
Do I need a "sarcasm off" tag for that one?
Did I just here you say "darkies votes won't count?" See the poll results in Florida, gonzo... And that's before the senior crowd gets wind of Ryan's planned murder of Medicaid... And it's worth noting you ignored New Mexico with your racist rant...
Roney and Ryan are up by several point over Obama/Biden with likely voters over 30, and for the under 30 voters that Obama swept to his Presidency with by garnering a huge number of their votes in 2008, he is down by an avg. of 13% points from what he had in 2008. Add to that, that just as the Black community, they are less inclined to go to the polls for this guy that did nothing for him as to what he had promised in 2008. The wool is off their eyes, Cab Driver. He's just another politician to them now.
They are making up stuff as they go along, lying about their intentions because they know if they were honest, they would never get elected.
Off topic but related to the show: Lily Ledbetter is a compelling speaker and I was moved by her story on the 16th.
