Gov. Chris Christie (file)
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie says he is totally open to running for president in 2016. And just to be clear, that still means he is rooting for Governor Mitt Romney to win this November. But just in case that does not happen, he would step up to the plate. The AP reports:
Christie rebuffed an opportunity to seek the GOP nomination this year. He was asked Wednesday at a boardwalk stop in Ocean City about running for the top spot in the next election.
He said: "If there's an opportunity for me to serve in another capacity and I think I have something to add to the mix, I don't think I'd back away from it."
He can practice his stump speech at the upcoming Republican National Convention in Tampa since he's reportedly the keynote speaker.

Until Willard releases his last twelve years of Federal income tax forms, his campaign will be mired in its own muck.
He's the perfect physical manifestation of all things Republican. Greed, pompousness and denial are etched into his persona.
Insensitive bully, who treats those who oppose him in an indignant way...
Let's not forget what happened the last time we had an elephantic lump in the White House - Old William Howard Taft broke the damned bathtub. Yikes!!! Not again, please.
HIs only redeeming quality is he's a Springsteen fan and Springsteen won't even acknowledge him at concerts or anywhere else.
I think following Springsteen's lead is a good and forget this loud mouth fat Republican archetype.
Cristie will have to wait until 2020 I think! The polls are getting tight, and the conventions haven't even been held yet. And the number of swing states is widening to include those loke Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa now that used to be considered Blue State (Democrat Party) highly probables. And then you will have the Republican Vice President choice of Romney's holding the inside track to the 2020 nomination at that, with all the accolades for the team and Party that turned around the piss poor economy and straightened out the fiscal mess left by the failed JIVE TALKING President Barrack Hussein Obama.
Keith Longey:
You need to read some books.
To blame President Obama is akin to getting hit by a bus, waking up in a hospital four years later, and blaming the doctors and the nurses for the accident.
Ronald Reagan tripled the national debt and he started this financial mess when he deregulated Wall Street firms. Under George W. Bush, the national debt went from $5 trillion to $12 trillion.
It is silly for you to expect President Obama to immediately fix problems that started thirty years ago when he inherited two unsuccessful wars, a high unemployment rate, a recession, and a $12 trillion national debt with at least a $500 billion a year interest rate.
Do you really think that your nonsense will sway intelligent people?
Do you think that smart people have forgotten that President Bush and his right wing extremists, capital extremists, war hawks, and war profiteers killed about 258,000 people or that his wars will ultimately cost the USA about $4 trillion dollars?
@Roberto- I agree somewhat with your comments regarding the huge mess the President inherited. But the fact is that the country is digging itself even deeper into debt under Obama, and the country cannot seem to turn itself around economically. Yet the Presidents only solution seems to be to tax rich people more. So, do you think THAT in itself is enough to "sway intelligent people" to vote for him this time around? This Presidents performance has been Mediocre at very best. His only salvation is that his opponent may be worse than him. Unfortunately WE all have to suffer for this current crop of politicians who have no idea how or what to do in this current global economic mess we find ourselves in.
Roberto: George Bush's 8 years in office fighting two wars and the overall war against Islamic Terrorism, facing a major recession at the beginning of his presidency caused by the dot.com bubble bust and the rapid fall of financial assets that had been built on the basis of easy money from the Fed under the Clinton years complicated by the impact to our economy of the 9/11 terror asault on the transporation systems of our country and the hard damage done to our financial center resulted in only $4 trillion added to the deficit. Obama has added over $5.6 trillion in new deficit spending in just 3&1/2 years of his Administration to George Bushes $4 trillion in 8 years of his Administration. And the Iraq war was already won and the negotiated end of US military presence in that country already underway when Obama took office.
The housing bubble colapse, and the financial system near colapse that so shook our economy was the result of oversights of two administrations, the Clinton 8 years and the Bust 8 years, as Congress and both Presidents throughout that 16 year period pushed for more and more mortgage underwriting to spur home ownership for people that really did not have the economic means to suport those homes. And it was under the Clinton Administration that the Republican effort to begin to regulate the harmfull derivatives of credit default swaps that were growing like topsy as gambling instruments for our bigest financial institutions was short circuited and defeated by Alan Greenspan, at the Federal Reserve helm that saw them as being critical to keeping easy money moving at high velocity thru the economy, supply huge amounts of "liquidity", until they all went belly up, proving to be an assault on the necessary liquidity that underpins our financial system and markets.
"Need to read a book"? I've read em, you haven't, That is obvious, Roberto. You don't know your arse from your elbow on these subjects, do you?
If Chris Christie runs for President he will definitely be seen as a harsh and deliberate person who does not care to insult anyone that he disagrees with. I will never vote for this man or any of this tea party group, who call themselves the best choice. Not in my book you don't!!!
The obese, Type-A Personality Christie will have to live 4 more years for that to happen. I wouldn't bet on it.
He is not Presendential material, he is a rude, abnoxious a-hole. He treats people rude and talks to them like they have no right questioning him. I would never vote for someone like him!!!
This is a complete no-brainer for Christie - he knew he could NEVER beat President Obama during 2012... Many stated that he knew he couldn't beat President Obama when Ann Coulter said she wanted Christie to run in 2012 and he refused and refused, and refused. He never gave a good reason - but we all knew this was his reason....HE COULD NOT BEAT PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HE KNEW IT.
Unlike the Democrat Party, the Republican Party has this thing about waiting one's turn for obtaining the standard bearers title of Nominee for the Presidency of the US. Christie knew it wasn't any where near his turn...and that Mr. Romney was always going to be the candidate of the Republican Party in 2012, and most likely in 2016 for reelection. End of story until 2020.
Christie for President...Oh wow!!! That's just what we need, someone telling us how s%^#$ is done and you don't have an opinion. HA!!!
" I believe the problem in our country is that we have this old politicians making decisions to make an impact TODAY, no making decisions to make an impact TOMORROW"
Andrew Cuomo is going to whip your BUTT whenever you decide to "run", walk, or crawl.
Hopefully, he'll be under 500 lbs.....
Can't see Chris Christie running...for anything. Waddling? Lumbering? Maybe- campaign theme song? "Baby Elephant Walk"?
