Sen. Rob Portman (file)
On Friday, both the Romney and Obama campaigns went on temporary hiatus from hitting one another, especially in Colorado, after the attack inside the movie house. It didn't last long and maybe in this case you can even blame the media. Romney supporter and potential vice presidential pick, Senator Rob Portman was asked about gun laws on Friday and said this:
"Let's see what the situation was. I don't know what the details are. I don't think we should make it a political discussion at this point. I've already heard some of that looking at my blackberry coming into this meeting today. So let's see what the situation is on the ground."
In the same conversation, the senator from Ohio was asked if the Colorado events showed the pettiness of the campaign and so he responded:
"It certainly shows what's really important which is our families. And in this case a senseless act of vilence that affects thousands of people in a small community in Colorado. That's ultimately what's important. I've been saying for weeks that i'm concerned about the tenor of the Obama attacks. I think they're not what people are interested in, and I think that particularly the attacks on Bain Capital and Mitt Romney's business record are misleading at best. .... That to me is a campaign that is not worthy of the incredible problems we face as a country. Americans deserve a different level of debate."
Do you blame the reporter for asking the question or blame the senator for taking the bait?

Neither, of course. The American people are responding in the polls that they are already SICK of the tone of the debate with its petty attack, and disreregard of the real issues!
And as to the Colorado horror, seems Portman's remarks pretty much echoed those of Romney and Obama on that issue!
So WTF are you trying to stir back up here, MSNBC?
Why are OBAMA'S 'attacks' when he is asking the questions that Romney is basing his campaign on? But when Romney lies in HIS ads...welll...we just move on...
Romney lies in his adds? On the long list of failures of this present Administration with its wasteful spending and foolish regulations like those damaging the energy sector?
Obama has outspent Romney 2-1, and the voters are saying he is the most to blame of any of a list of choices for the bad economy...and that list included the Banks, George Bush, and Congress. And all during his campaign of the past three months with spurious attacks that his friends and supporters in the Democrat Party have said aren't valid against Bain Capital and Romney's business and personal ethics, and news sources like the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post say aren't valid, Obama has been losing support of the voter...going down 6% points to a dismal 36% support only in all around approval rating. Seems you can't get in the gutter without getting dirtied up!
You Guys at msnbc are a Joke, Journalism at best is worthy of the National enquirer, I should not be able to listen to a so called journalist or news broadcast and tell within 30 seconds who he or she is advocating for. true journalism does not advocate. You people are horribly mistaken if you think the public on either side of the political spectrum take any of you serious, That would be like believing the Seattle weather reporter is correct on there forecast.
Exsuse Me. Nads you are the Joke.
Fox are the idiots you should boycott them,I do...They are not news at all, they are the Romney Campaign...How Lucky! Romney has them.Of course the GOP are buying the Election..We the people are out of luck,we won't have any one Repesenting the American People..How Sad! Our Country will be run by the Elite and the Wealthy.
"tukababy"? is that some kind of pedophilia monikor you've adopted?
"Of course the GOP are buying the Election" Really? Seems to me that the reports are (including from MSNBC's Chuck Todd who is their go to guy on this stuff) that Obama's Campaign & Pacs have outspent the Romney Campaign & Pacs by a 2 to 1 margin so far. All spurious attack adds, mostly...desparately trying to change the topic from his record of failure that the voters know about, "tukababy"!
