It seems like only yesterday the network was born. Our baby's all grown up on us. MSNBC turns 16-years-old this coming July 15. Our very own Lawrence O’Donnell was there from the beginning. Seriously, like, the morning of the launch, he was on-air — officially, by our count, making him the
longest running man in makeup at MSNBC.
Back in the day, shows broadcast out of Fort Lee, New Jersey. In case you didn't program your VCR that morning, he was on a panel discussion with Laura Ingram to analyze recent poll numbers between then-presidential candidates, Bill Clinton and Bob Dole.
Beloved journalist Tim Russert took a "coffee break" during their segment (a.k.a. there was a major technical glitch). It was the dawn of the 24-hour news channels, and as they proved in this clip, not everything goes as planned on live TV. They kept it together well. And look, we're still here.
Enjoy this '90s time warp.
Happy Anniversary MSNBC ! Happy Sweet l6.
Your station shows good well-rounded news coverage.. always educating us..
thank you !
Thumbs up ^ MSNBC, my favorite...
who are the people on this show LOL
Too bad that its highly likely that if you don't change your editorial and programming content your long slide down to the bottom in the national ratings behind Fox News, CNN, and even Bloomberg News there won't be that many more years. NBC has this network on life support now, but sooner or later this group will be cut loose to either make or break it on their own, and my money is on the latter.
But Happy Birthday, MSNBC. Is it symbolic that this milestone achievement came immediately on the heels of the 33rd celebration by 80,000 racous folk in Wrigley Field on a hot summer night to watch the explosion of a dumpster full of disco music albums, ushering in the death of disco?
I am totally biased, and am totally appreciative of the great genius of Lawrence O'Donnell, but, to me, it is the women of MSNBC that have built the fiber, of the Network. They, and their discipline, precision, passion for humanity and the true essence of the news product, have set the highest bar for professional journalism at MSNBC. With such standards at anchor, I can only imagine the utter class of those behind the camera- those who make it all come together and work. Congratulations to the best news programing product, anywhere.
what would I do without msnbc ?
Romney's Dole
Good to see Tim again. I miss him.
Why don't you just go out and annex Quebec?
Here is your birthday present, MSNBC. A federal court ruled in favor of the State of Florida's request for the Homeland Security Department's non-citizens list, and against the Obama Administration that was refusing to provide it. Obama had to relent in his opposition, and the list is released. Victory to Gov. Scott and the Secretary of State for Florida as they seek to protect the scantity of the vote from the estimated thousands of illegal and legal immigrants in their state who are being encouraged by Obama and Democrat Party candidate supporters to get reigstered, often by hook or by crook, to be able to vote in November.
Looks like one more Swing State that won't be a victim of the Obama Campaign's and what's left of his favorite community organizing group Acorn's shennaigans this year, MSNBC. And to make your present even better, now many more states are requesting their copies of the list.
It looks like Romney is running scared.
The 1st Shoe Drops: NBC aquires the MSNBC digital rights (the basis of this blog, for example) from Microsoft and ominously immediately rebrands it as NBC News. Obviously the MSNBC name, which is a good as mud, wasn't thought much of to be in the future plans of the parent of this failing network. Ben Jealous standing in for that Obama ass kisser Martin Bashir this week....Sheeesh! How bad can it get?
Too predictable, Fuzzie... MCNBC cable is going to remain...
And Microsoft is going to create another news site... Given history, it'll have another liberal progressive focus, so I'll reassure you that no, you're not going to be seeing double despite that drinking you've been acknowledging has given you comfort in your dotage...
Glad MSNBC will continue..Too bad there isn't a way to get FEAUX NEWS banned, like they are banned in Canada along with all right wing radio..In Canada they don't allow News stations to give any false or misleading news..The fact that FEAUX News has so many listeners is what is really frightening..A survey in the U.S. SHOWED THAT THOSE THAT WATCH NO NEWS ARE BETTER EDUCATED ON THE ISSUES THAN THOSE FOX VIEWERS...Scary to think of them as voters....
"In Canada they don't allow News stations to give any false or misleading news"...really? What part of your government takes on the responsibility to censor the news? Sound's ominous to me, Msarlene! One person's idea of mnisleading news might be another's thought provoking truth telling depending on their political persuasion, one might think?
"Republicans are easy to consult with!?!" I can't believe it! I wish I had watched this when it first aired! However I don't get why Niger Innis has on Harry Potter glasses, since the series had yet to come out back then. :) Are his glasses part of Rush's movie conspiracy involving liberals yet?
