There is more to Ed Rollins' comments Tuesday morning on Fox News that the Republican Party needs to be more inclusive and less exclusive. Rollins said the Republican Party is too old, white and even fat and needs to bring in more hispanic, latino, black and women members. Here is why:

Increase in Minority Voters as a share of the U.S. Electorate 2008- 2012
This map shows the data from this week's "The New Republic", where Ruy Teixeira from the Center for American Progress explains that the changing demographics of the electorate, especially in many swing states, could have a profound impact on the vote. You can see that in several of the swing states, the percentage of minority voters has increased just between the last Presidential election and what is expected this November. The Minority population in Colorado has gone up 9% and 4% in North Carolina. President Obama won 80% of the Minority Vote in 2008 and is on track to do as well with those same voters this November according to most recent polls, including the NBC/WSJ poll from just 2 weeks ago and the ABC/Washington Post poll out today.
In those same states, the percentage of White Working Class voters will be down as a percentage of the electorate... President Obama lost those voters by 18% in 2008. (The College Educated White Vote is expected to stay almost the same according to Teixeira.)
Since 1988, Republicans have not won more than 12% of the African American vote in a Presidential election. Since 1992, Democrats have tripled their margin of victory over Republicans in the Minority vote.

A lot of noise all the time about the "minority" voters, treating minorities as if they are somehow a monolithic entity that walks and talks with the same gait and accent.
Case in point: The "Hispanic (or Latino) voters" are made up of people of several different and distinct peoples of differing ethnic heritage. While individuals of Mexican ethnic descent make up a large proportion of the "Hispanic voters", there are ethnic heritage representations of Puerto Rican and other Caribean Island peoples, with Cubans being a separate culture (and political interest), Latin Americans of Central and South American countries and hertiage (including a large and growing Portugese speaking population of recent Brazilian immigrants), and European Spanish and Portugese heritage peoples of former influxes of immigrants to our shores. These Amerocan voters are not in any way unified in their political inclinations.
And even if they were, sometimes the Presidential election results of the issue politics fails to recognize the following: we have a system of electing our Chief Executives known as the Electoral College. And while 50% of the "Hispanic (or Latino) voters may reside in just two states, California and Texas, the history of those two states is pretty much that the former is a Blue State in its politics (Democrat Party country), while the latter is Red (Republican Party country). And for the foreseeable future, those two states will be cancelling each other out when the national elections take place.
Except that California is 55 electoral votes and Texas is 38 electoral votes. That would be a net margin of 17 and does not 'cancel out' as you propose.
In the future thay just might cancel each other completely as Texas is growing and California is shrinking in population, with Arizona and New Mexico and Nevada and Colorado and Texas being the recepients of that population fleeing east, tomdelay. But being from Texas, you should know that.
It really doesn't matter the republicans are going to cheat anyway how about that and this country wont know who is running it.
Why do you people always, always discount non-whites?
Um, that +9 looks like Nevada, not Colorado which looks like +3. Either your map is wrong or your article is wrong, but I appreciate the article nevertheless.
I think Mitt Romney and RNC are counting on the white majority in this country to put him in the White House.
Wont happen its not enough of them the republican party is not half of the voters Mitt Romney needs others like the independents, Hispanics who he wont get and only the house Negros no spine black folks who r kiss ass and this is another thing how can these black no spine Negros sit and listen to people who don't like them including gay folks in the republican party. I bet Mitt Romney haven't invited Herman Cain to his house or any fundraisers this is really and House Negro who is embarrassing to watch here is man who wanted to be president of only white folks and screw their women.
I am going to really work hard to get out the vote Mitt Romney is to dam secretive for me, and he look strange, his wife is kind of screwy u can see or feel that Mitt Romney and his wife feel they have an entitlement to the presidency I believe in GOD that is powerful, caring and knows that if the republicans get into office this country wont be recognized. The republicans are hateful, heartless, uncaring and would rather give to the rich. What the hell is wrong with poor white folks who would vote against their own interest do they think the republicans are going to pay for their health care or mortgages are these folks just racist and are willing to put their own lives up for sale its sad, I know some white folks who don't have a pot to piss in and a window to throw it out are having the nerve to hate on the president health care and they are in wheel chairs.
