Fox News viewers witnessed a rare plea from veteran Republican strategist Ed Rollins to broaden its base.
When asked today about critiques of the GOP as being as a bunch of "old white guys," Rollins, who worked as Ronald Reagan's national campaign director in 1984, agreed.
"It is a bunch of old, white guys, and unfortunately, a lot of them are fat like me — like Haley Barbour, my former deputy, and others.” He also urged his party to do a better job of engaging Latino and African-American voters.
Dems boast a widening edge with non-white voters. They tripled their margin of victory with this group, beating Republicans by more than 7 million in 1992 and by more than 21 million votes in 2008.
Mitt Romney plans to address the NAACP convention Wednesday, making his case to African-American voters.

If we turn this argument on it's head it looks like this; Republican's have gerrymandered their Congressional district's so well that their cohort is almost entirely White, Fat, & Old to the point that Republican Congressmen & women have to tow the Republican line one-hundred percent to the letter. Let's say their congressional district was a more natural blend of races, and political parties the they are in our cities and suburb's, the representative would be able to take on issues important to minority resident's during speeches and town hall meetings then play politics on the Hill with the vote, but there is none of that possible for House or Senate Republicans today because of the extreme homogeneity within the district... Republican's have been too clever by half with these population control district's enabling them to assure themselves victories in the various Congressional Districts they seek, but the unfortunate thing for Republicans with their assured majorities only serves in insure that their poster boy is White, Fat, & Old a look that guarantees minority status in the future./
Retired Republicans tend to be the quasi reality crew. They tend to be aware and informed but if you probe only slightly below the surface, a void exists with near vacuity of actual factual information.
A lot of folks tend to pretend to be aware and informed. They act like they think they're supposed to be. They just pretend to be aware. Plus when you're old you tend to be set in your ways and a lot of these folks grew up in the 40's and 50's. They're just too old to change their spots.
And a lot of folks are more swayed by clannish prejudice and preconception and prejudicial familial tendencies than by academia. Half the population is below average, they're not academic. Many live their lives in quasi reality populated with goblins and angels, and aliens. Many are also simply conspiratorial which may become more pronounced with aging. Most retired folks are medicated which can also change personality. Plus when a person ages their neural pathways tend to be set in cement with only minor possibilities of altering their existing preconcepts and opinions and awareness. .
Yeah...and some things don't need altering!
