It's no secret that Newt Gingrich is an animal lover. In an unforgettable exchange with Chris Matthews last month, Newt Gingrich revealed his favorite animal to watch at zoos are elephants. In a new interview with ABC News' Jonathan Karl, Speaker Newt Gingrich walked around the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. and explained his deep affinity for elephants.
"Elephants are among my favorites, partly because I'm Republican and partly because I'm big. Elephants make me feel like I'm the right size." He added, "They're very smart animals."
When asked what cabinet position he would lust after, Speaker Gingrich replied, "If they created a secretary of zoos, I would begin to get really excited. Kudos to our Graphics Extraordinaires, John Yuro and Joe McDonald, for creating a visual rendition of Newt's love for animals and zoos.

I never thought id say it, and i can only think it because i havent had to listen to his flapper flap lies recently, but the love of animals and zoos is almost endearing. In a day where pollution for profits gives republicans hardons, its actually is nice to see one appreciate the nature they themselves believe in destroying for the bottom line.
Newt perhaps missed his calling and should have been a zookeeper... He would then command some affection and possibly get some perspective on the Animal Kingdom's role in this world and the ecosystems that define it...
And his political activism may have taken a different course, probably far less profitable, but far more admirable.
1. Republicans seem to be overly concerned that all things be the “right size” – even themselves.

I was a hunter in my misspent youth, and I still think it has its place, but I'm one of the "you shoot it, you eat it" congregation. Way too many duck hunters and far too few people who actually like roast duck...
The congress of the state and federal government are the most powerful unions in the world. They vote their own wages, they vote their own pensions, they vote their own benefits, and they vote their own health insurance, ALL are the best, all are the most expensive, all are public employees, and all are at the government and taxpayer expense. Reducing their perks would go a long way at reducing the deficit and balancing the budget.

Add to that, the incredible state of lack of journalistic sense in ignoring the call by the Senate Homeland Security Chairman Joesept Liberman, Indpendent Senator from Connecticut for a Special Prosecutor to be appointed to investigate the security leaks from the National Security Council and/or the White House that were thought to enable President Obama's standing with the electorate. Uh Grandpa, there's a reason the Eric Holder story had a news life of approximately a day-and-a-half. And it wasn't because of any media conspiracy or anything (Check out how it wasn't mentioned in today's Daily Beast if you doubt me). It's because it was strictly manufactured melodrama. We realize you must love that art form, given that you hype so much of it here, but some of us have different tastes in entertainment.
Now hop over to Rachel Maddow and click on the two links there... One reads "Goofy gun conspiracy surfaces in Congressional action," and the other reads "Gun advocates invent violence conspiracy, ignore actual gun violence... That pretty much makes roadkill out of the Holder Fussin' over Furious nonsense...
BTW, Wiki says that Maddow's first date with her current partner was at an NRA "Lady's Day" event...
As for Lieberman, you realize he used to be a Democrat, right? My take is that he wasn't bright enough for the party, and they tossed him... Unfortunately, the voters in Connecticut are a bit sub-par in the gray matter department, and they keep electing him. My sympathies... It's worse here on Planet Utah, however (see Hatch, Orrin).
You believe the Democrat's Vice Presidential Candidate in 2000 was not bright enough for the Party, so they ditched him? Liberman cleaned the clock of the media darling the Democrats put up in Joe's Senate relection campaign in 2006 (Chris Mathews, who you suck leftist pap from every week being one of the foremost supporters), a Greenich guy who's claim to fame was he was anti-Iraq War, and he lucked out making millions selling out his franchise cable businesses after laying off his employees, and was willing to spend his own money on his campaign.
As to Maddow and MSNBC trying to dirty up the intentions of the House investigative committee by spoofing rumors of conspiracies, that is going nowhere. This is headed eventually to the courts (maybe the Supreme Court), where this Obama Administration doesn't get a very good audience. They may be successful in keeping the cover up and the White House involvement in the coverup covered up until after the election, but coupled with the security breaches for relection benefit, this has a stink that even the most over the top Obama supporter can smell a mile away, Cab Driver.
By the way, I see even the Obama Girl of 2008 that did so much to rally the youth vote for Obama is taking a wait and see now, and maybe not supporting Obama this year, as she is disillusioned by his being just another Chicago political animal, instead of the man promising "Hope and Change", "Transformation and Transparancy"! The word is that the Obama campaign is trying to replace her with a singing, dancing "gay" man instead. Let's see how that works for you! LOL!
