A new ad from the secretive right-wing group American Future Fund thanks Republican Senator Mitch McConnell for "defending free speech." The 80-second spot entreats us, over some good ol’ American fiddles, to remind Obama that he swore an oath to uphold our right to free speech, by which it means the Supreme Court decision on Citizens United v. the FEC, which held that the First Amendment prohibited the government from restricting political donations by corporations and unions. So in other words, it makes the argument our nation's founding fathers "fought and died" for justice unlimited campaign spending. (I must've missed that lesson in my history text-book.)
“Don’t be fooled,” stated AFF Founder Nick Ryan. ”Obama and his team are attempting to hide their radical and dangerous plans under a cloak of so-called democracy. What they really want is to suppress the voices of those who disagree with them. They want more control over what is said and who is saying it. It’s un-American. It’s wrong.”
It's worth mentioning the American Future Fund is itself a 501(c)(4), operating its own super PAC, the exact type of organization that the Citizens United ruling made possible. And now they've made an ad defending the same cause which enabled them to acquire the amount of money necessary to make an ad defending the same cause which enabled them to acquire the amount of money necessary to...
The irony is so sinister that I have to go and curl up in the fetal position. If you need me, I’ll be under the cloak of so-called democracy.

You can see someone speak but your million dollar contribution can be anonymous? Where's that in the Constitution?
Has anyone been to Teddy Roosevlet's grave site recently? There has to be a vortex forming above it from all the underground spinning....
Seems to me that this is a necessary counterbalancing force for the national liberal lame stream media being sooooo in the bag for Obama's reelection bid and other "progressive Democrat Party candidates and causes. If you don't like the message, don't watch it. Fair, balanced, and simple enough a proposition even for the lame brain leftists to grasp, I would think.
By the way, where is the post where I can read and comment on Independent Senator and Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee comimg out Sunday and joining the growing call for the appointment of a Special Prosecutor for the investigation of the security leaks that were accomplished to aide Obama's reelection bid, and those leaks duly reported in the liberal media. Where can I comment on Obama's Attorney General Eric Holder having a contempt of Congress motion voted out of the House committee he has stonewalled for over a year on the suponea for documents inclusing e-mails, memos, and internal reports on the infamous gun running scandal of "Fast and Furious" that his Justice Departmebt developed, expanded, and botched with deadly consequences.
And yes, the "Founding Fathers" most slave owners, land owners and struggling with the concept of the rights of man, had only their privilege class to look towards for guidance -- but as time went by and there were amendments and the concept of equality and human rights took hold, I believe that the path did not direct us towards the elite and privileged amongst us creating man-made corporations as equal to one man one vote. The Supreme Court of the United States has revealed to us that in all of our knowledge of history and our wisdom of law, they are not god. The justices that believe this falsehood will need to explain, explain, explain and we watch one man one vote destroyed in this election cycle.
Is use of Super Paks came duringthe Democrat Mike Dukakis Presiential campaign. Ronald Reagan was elected using matching federal funds for the small amount he raised for his campaign. Obama was the candidate of change and transformation who reneged on his vow to raise only enough funds to qualify ffor matching federal funds, than went out an raised as much as he could and put together a 2008 war chest twice the size of Hilliary Clintons in the nomination battle and later John McCains in the election. And Wall Street ponied up nearly a half billion dollars for the Obama campaign. But not this year, they learned what they bought later down the road and didn't like it one bit.
Where's the comment on Georgie Soros' money flooding into DNC SuperPacs???
PMS-NBC has lied and distorted so many reports - I doubt this is the full story... If MS-NBC would setup an innocent person (Zimmerman) and then purposely and falsely report a Romney event (for their own purposes) how can we trust any of this??? Even Andrea Mitchell continued the lies!!!
I think PMS-NBC is fabricating news....
I stopped by to leave a comment addressed to Larry O'Donnell. No matter how you cut it, no matter what politics you have, his recent comments, doing the, to be expected skewing, should be embarrassing to all.
His recent abject BULLSCHITTE and irrelevant analysis and interpretation of an UNEDITED piece by Mitt Romney about his wife and dressage, should have even the most die hard far left person concerned. I heard it after hearing Romney';s remarks and merely remarked, "huh?"
What's next? Editing Mitt Romney and a trip to Wa Wa in Pennsylvania? You supporters of MSNBC are not only pathetic but at the very least get some self respect. Or was that sold along with your political soul? You embrace and support lies, obfuscations, half truths and worse. Why? To win for a side with the very same ongoing behaviors?
Why do you sound as if you work ONLY for Barack Obama?
As a reporter, do you have ANY responsibility to represent both sides?
Disgraceful !
MSNBC gives "Yellow Journalism ' A BAD NAME!
