Perhaps one of the many reasons Mitt Romney doesn't want you to see his tax returns is he doesn't want you to know how much he deducts for dancing horses. In 2010, it was written off as $77,000 business deduction. MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell rewrites Mitt Romney's justification for trying to deduct the cost of his show horse from his taxes.
Rewriting Romney's Olympic tax deduction

99.9% of the population would be so happy they would spontaneoulsy burst into flames if they could have a 15% tax rate. Yet that isnt enough this kind of parasite. Deduct that horse that cost almost twice the median income in america.
Mit is a vagina.
Homo too, Tom?
BTW, 48% of the US population of earned income tax filers have a 0% tax rate as they pay no taxes...in fact some who have income and children have a below 0% tax rate as they get a check from the IRS for being earned income tax credit eligible. Romney's tax rate as an individual who has no salary or wages but enjoys capital gains and dividends from investments is at the maximum level of the appropriate income tax bracket, same as Democrat Party supporter Warren Buffett, the billionaire. Yet Romney's total net worth is only 220 million, give or take a million or two.
Tom from Philly. I love that place, did my grad work at Temple.
President Obama payed 15% tax, so what are you crying about. One more question who do you consider to be part of the 1%? This is not cut and dried by just how much money you make, because I see all kinds of rich people that are libs that get a free pass even though they are millionaires and billionaires.
Larry you are flat out an Idiot, you have the reasoning of a shoe and the analytical ability of a muskrat, I can see why you did so well as a democratic politician.
You and Grandpa Fuzz have a similar disdain for the truth, chummed...
Obama paid a 15% tax rate. Bull@!$%#!
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/14/us/politics/obamas-release-tax-returns.html
{Obama] paid just over 20 percent of it in federal taxes, according to income tax returns and gift-tax returns released by the White House on Friday.
Mr. Obama’s secretary, Anita Decker Breckenridge, paid a “slightly higher” tax rate than her boss in 2011, on a salary of $95,000.
These two dissemblers head over to FAUX Noise, eat the pseudo-intellectual beans that make up the main course and then come here to stink up the place with their nonsense.
Hang in there Tom... They even tried to put their creative prowess on display with their clumsy attempts at metaphors. No doubt that impresses the Hannity sycophant crowd, but we're a little more discriminating here.
If you would do a little independent research of your own instead of bowing at the idol of your Liberal God, you would know that "dressage" is a middle class activity and that it is used extensively for rehabilitation and treatment of a wide variety of disabled persons. This activity is often available because "wildly rich" people donate horses or create non-profits with equestrian facilities and the horses that are made available free of charge to disabled persons. I have known personally many disabled persons who were helped in this fashion. If that means a 70,000 deduction, then it is much more of a good deal for the taxpayer than having a government sponsored center paid for entirely by your tax dollars. Go to your mirror and write the word "naive gullible fool" and you will see your own racist bigoted image underneath.
I hope this fellow is writing a spoof; I used to work rehab, and we did take kids on river runs and such; one operation was "looking for non-chemical highs," and it was nice to get "paid to ski," but the salary otherwise was sucko...
As for the challenge to "do a little independent research," well, I don't see stuff like that here...
http://www.dressagedaily.com/
You folks from the asylums really shouldn't bring those day room plastic picnic knives to a real rumble...
The only thing these claims have in common with horses is the manure part...
Poor cab driver, still relating everything to his insular alcoholic and drug abusing world. "Rehabilitation" is not coopted as a term by the addicted population, just as "gay" is not coopted by the queers amonst us. Look en up, fool. And where did you get off chastising me for someone elses statement? I didn't say anything about Obama's taxes or his tax rate, oh ignorant one. Or were you drunk again when you read those posts and replied, lush?
It's Romney's money, and if he wants to spend it on horses, than that is his right. If you want to spend your money on twinkies and diet coke, that is your right too. If Mrs Romney gets relief from her disease from riding horses, than by all means do that. This is yet another example of class warfare and trying to change the topics from the failed Obama presidency and the inability of his congress to pass a budget or markedly improve the economy during his term. The blame game is getting pretty old... One day it's Bush's fault, the next it's headwinds from Europe, or it was because of an early Easter, or a warm winter, and before that a colder than normal winter.
Of course you could try to put it all on what you call faux news, but I believe it was this network, MSNBS, NBC news, etc that just had to reissue the wawa Romney story because of 'creative editing', and the trayvon video and audio editing... NBC has no problem 'modifying' the news to help out the democrats and keep their corporate owners from having to pay any taxes and keep getting all their 'green energy' taxpayer giveaways...
Here's a little research for ya:
Sure, if he wants to spend it on horses, that's his right. He's got more money than God, so I'm sure he wouldn't mind footing the bill for his wife's little therapeutic hobby, right? Oh...wait... Mittens want to write it off and get yet another tax deduction. What an elitist pig.
Wow. awe struck but in the wrong direction. Obviously you have given the on line manager too many trys. Lawrence my good man. Not only is your show still NOT in order on line some clips are blow your ear drums loud while others are completely mute all at the same volume.
Am I ever to see one of my top three news shows again? Hmmm. Indeed. ; ]
Cheers
Still nothing on the scandal of the Attorney General Eric Holder's Contempt of Congress which he is trying to stave off in an 11th hour meeting with Congressional leaders today (although more stonewalling on the "Fast and Furious" gun walking investigation is expected.
And nothing on the growing call by Democrats and Republicans for a Special Prosecutor to be appointed to investigate the leaking of sensitive anti-terrorist classified data for suspected Obama reelection bid enhancement after Independent Senator Joseph Liberman, Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Commitee, called for that Sunday.
Wake up, MSNBC!
Might be the reason there's nothing--not on MSNBC or the NY Times or WaPo--is that the story is as empty of substance as that Solyandra factory the Mittster held his silly news conference in front of...
The FAUX Noisehounds tried to hype that one for over a year, but Romney was the only pol gullible enough to believe it.
But Fuzzy is in there pitching the story, nevertheless... We're not sure if he's getting the details via his metal headgear or from the wireless voices inside his head...
And by now Chris Matthews has utterly taken the hot air from Grandpa's sails (you did tell us you watch him before dinner, right?). This charge is utter unfounded nonsense, and I hope voters are paying attention to House Republicans doing a massive cliff leap onto to the rocks below (dadburned Superman complexes, anyway).
Chris's characterization of the Holder/Congress brougha is it amounts to a "Stop-and-Frisk" tactic where Issa is attempting to hurt the President, but as the history has shown, the program originated under Bush 43, and Holder is adhering to the law by refusing to release wiretap records because the statutes forbid him from doing so...
There's something contemptible about this one, but what it is the stench of a member of Congress racially profiling a cabinet member...
Fast and Furious initiated in its planning stages under Bush, but developed, expanded, and botched under Obama's incompetant Justice Department. And Joe Liberman appeared on other networks than Fox calling for a Special Prosecutor instead of leaving the security leaks investigation to the Obama hit man Eric Holder, who no one in Congress has any degree of confidence in.
Holder will have the vote out of committee tomorrow on the contempt charge, and lets see if MSNBC continues to sweap this embarresment under the rug for the Obama reelection effort, Cab Driver
"Key Republicans in Congress welcomed an opportunity to go after the
Justice Department and White House. All of them have speculated that
the Obama administration devised the investigation so that Mexico
would be flooded with U.S. firearms, thereby justifying new
gun-control legislation. But, as it turned out, the Fast and Furious
strategy originated with field agents in Phoenix and was first
employed not under Democratic leadership, but years earlier during the
Republican administration of George W. Bush."

Get a life, pothead!
Congratualations Lawrence - this is outstanding journalism.
Mitt - Is this horse really about therapy for Ann? Or your ego and Ann's ego? You can spin it all you want but the reality is that you don’t need a “million dollar” horse under Ann for therapy – unless the therapy is for her ego. And Ann - if you aren’t good enough to ride that “million dollar” horse yourself in the Olympics, then you don’t deserve to be on that horse – a top athlete does at all times. It’s fine to be rich and ride, but you should be ashamed that you are unabashedly getting your ego off the horse’s glory and another rider’s talent and achievement. That says you aren’t just rich but you think you deserve glory based on nothing but your wealth and that makes it clear that you think you are American Royalty.
What’s sad? Now the rider of your horse in the Olympics will be in the “Ann Romney shadow” even if the rider wins gold.
HAHAHAHAHA!!
Outstanding "journalism"? For criticizing people with a disease using tried and true therapy methods.
O'DumbDumb you are a colossal bag of @!$%# and all your minions couldn't come up with enough intelligence to fill an elevator as full as a fart would.
Here in mid Michigan there are some programs for disabled children that use horseback riding as adjunct therapy. In general the horses are walked while the children ride. The gentle movements in the saddle do seem to help the children with balance and position problems. This may well be how it would help Mrs. Romney and her MS. If she gets relief and improvement, fine.
Read a new book, American Royalty, to see how they operate.
Lawrence, et al, lots of people ride for therapy, Dems and GOP. A lot of you folks seem to believe there is only one pie in life and if someone has a bigger piece than you do, they are stealing from you?
Medical Considerations for Therapeutic Riding
By Liz Baker, PT, Medical Committee Chairman
Multiple Sclerosis is one of a growing number of diseases that has a dual identity in therapeutic riding: it can be both an indication for riding, and a precaution or contraindication. This duality, an apparent contradiction, is created by the type of symptoms and problems caused by the disease; its signs and symptoms can be improved by therapeutic riding, worsened by riding, or even preclude riding altogether. In general, however, people with MS are often good candidates for riding, and this activity can help retain functional ability on and off the horse.
Why waste your time. I have MS and you're right and O'Donnell is wrong. He doesn't have a clue about anything like this. Trying to boost his ratings from 7 to 13. O'Donnell, get a clue in life will you and stop of the ridicule of people with medical conditions you don't understand or, you do understand and don't care about. I'd say you're an embarrassment to journalism but that presupposes you're a journalist, and you're not.
I don't see Mrs. Romney riding her 77k tax deduction for therapy. I see a professional riding the little business venture. I bet if she couldn't perform adequately, she'd be on the next truck to a Mexican slaughter house. So much for that excuse.
Real therapy horses don't perform in the olympics. Their work is much more important. See Giant Steps for reference.
Nothing like many comments from non-horsemen. I remember the snarky comments about such Democratic horsewomen as Pamela Harriman, Jacqueline Kennedy and, yes, Eleanor Roosevelt, and I didn't like them -- and I don't like yours about Mrs. Romney. Yeah, dressage is a sport -- an Olympic sport of much longer history than jumping endlessly into a swimming pool. It is also a therapeutic treatment for injured warriors -- referred to by Hippocrates as hippotherapy. Mrs. Romney is an articulate spokeswoman for this therapeutic use of horses -- check around Washington; you will find many groups offering therapy to returning injured veterans of these dreadful conflicts we are into. I would rather eat a bug than vote for Romney, but I despair hearing someone like you furiously denigrate a sport you clearly know nothing about. Beneath you.
The reason the deduction is reprehensible has nothing to do with MS or Mrs. Romney's illness. The guy is worth a couple hundred million, he should be ashamed for taking a deduction in this manner. Really, ashamed. My feeling is that the main reason he doesn't want to release his returns is that this deduction probably isn't the worst. Of course he's not breaking the law, the issue is that the laws have been written by and for the rich. Romney is so far out of touch and I find it astounding that so many people are buying the line of BS he delivers every day wearing chunky Mom jeans. The only person that I have ever known who had a Swiss bank account is now doing time in a Federal prison. Something stinks every time I see or hear him.
Odonnell is a Democrat Mouthpiece Tool. What an embarassment to journalism.
Yes horses can be a deductible expense. Yes they can be therapy for many injuries and ailments. Study up and you might learn something before making your snarky remarks.
Sorry you don't like the fact that Romney's income is only double taxed and you are offended that his dividend income - investment income already taxed once - is only taxed at a 15% rate. Maybe re-instating the death tax and having the Prez steal 50% of his worth on death will make life more fair.
Success should be praised not demonized.
Here's a comment from someone who knows a lot about equestrian sports from over 15 years of experience. Yes, riding can be therapeutic for many conditions. That’s not the argument. What’s fake about the Romney therapy claim is that a $5K horse that is available every day to be ridden by Ann would serve much better for therapy than a “million dollar” horse that is not available to be ridden by Ann because it’s in an Olympic training program for months and is being ridden by other Olympic horse trainers and Olympic athletes in training every day. The therapeutic deception seems clear when the whole story is presented.
Well, 4GBill, my having over 20 years experience, I gotta horse to sell you. If you think you can buy a fully trained dressage horse for $5k, I wouldn't want anything you own. You can't buy a good Barrel, Roping or Cutting horse for that. A good playday horse will bring $5k. WB start at $8k around here for a colt. My 2 kids horses are worth $5k, and they are not dressage. However, Ann owns 5 horses and none of them are worth a "million" dollars. If you really did know what you were talking about, you would know, anyone who has, works, trains and competes horses writes them off on our taxes as it is a business and any money we earn will be taxed as a business.
Windycreek – you may have read what I wrote, but you clearly didn’t understand it because you were too busy trying to impress everyone that you owned horses. Here’s a question for you to consider so you have second chance to get the concept. Riding therapy comes from riding any horse every day, so why does Ann Romney need an Olympic dressage horse that is not available for her to ride because it’s in Olympic training or at the Olympics?
Wasn't trying to impress anyone, horse ownership here is as common as trucks. And a therapeutic riding ranch is just up the road, where the people ride once a week. Perhaps she owns that horse for the investment, like so many do. A friend of mine shows pro-circuit, yet never steps into the arena. She hires a handler. I was pointing out the simple fact that your prices were ridiculous. One would have more than $5k invested in nothing but the training of a dressage horse. And, again, I will point out Ann owns 5 horses. Lots of us own horses we never ride, but they are a business investment.
Well done...I'm sure the 14 people that watch your show loved your bashing of a person that suffers from MS. I hope to meet you in person some day...to tell you what I really think of you to your face.
I'd just like to get in that arsehole O'Donnell's face big time myself, Sir Stan!
As a person how has delt with MS for 25 year, your comment on horseback riding and MS shows how stupid you are! MS trancends politics, its not left or right. Only a stupid ahole like you what make such dumb comment. How about reading a medical journal once in a while? Or are you too stupid for taht as well? I know you are way to small to even sit a horse, maybe a baby pony you pea brain. What an @!$%#!!!
I am totally disgusted by you ... and appalled that NBC actually keeps you on the air. You mock a woman who has MS - obviously, something you know nothing about and show not one ounce of compassion, and then you edit the words of a presidential candidate to do your bidding. Disgusted. Classless. Lowlife. Desperate. I'd be more worried if anyone actually watched your show. Go hide under a rock. That's where you should be hanging out these days, with all the other scrum and dirt.
Sad commentary.
Lawrence, you're a horse's ass. Listen to the interview once more (go slowly if you have to, we understand). The athlete he is talking about is the HORSE. Just to clarify, for you to be so insulting to someone with MS makes you a horse's ass in my opinion, with profound apologies to the horse for using that as an insult.
This is such a strectch!!!!
You are a horses ass, and it's truly appalling these unmitigated personal attacks on the Romany's just because they have been successful. If what they are doing with there taxes is illegal, then get the IRS involved, but to suggest such - well you define ass-tard.
How low can you go Mr. O'Donnell and staff? This is something you stand behind and are proud of? Sleazy commentary, thankfully the vast majority is seeing your words are the same as what is coming from the business end of the horse.
Heh Lawrence!
Why stop with Ann Romney and making fun of MS??
Here are some kids with cerebral palsy that should give you unlimited ammunition for jest!
You and your ilk make fun of babies with Down Syndrome...why not other infirmities?
Horses are good judges of character. I'd love to get you in a round pen with one.
Equine Therapy for Cerebral Palsy Sufferers
Equine Therapy for kids with neuromuscular, cognitive and sensory disorders.
Equine Therapy for At Risk Kids
Equine Therapy for Mentally and Emotionally Disturbed Children
Equine Therapy for Troubled Girls
Are those therapy horses providing billionaires with "business" tax exemptions, or are they actually helping people?
Interesting. Did anyone who is in love with this hack know that his net worth is 8 MILLION dollars? This is the same guy who constantly pounds on the "rich".
In addition, that interview is completely hacked to pieces and arranged disingenuously, and he keeps harping on things that aren't true.
Can't expect anything less from an idiot who can't argue a point that is actually there, instead choosing to create a point he knows he can counter with his feeble mind.
EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS...remember, most of these "commentators" are part of the very "1%" they want you to despise. Start thinking for yourselves for a change.
Larry,
That isnt even close to what Romney said. I know you are desperate for ratings but at least if you are going to mis quote, and twist what Romney is saying at least have the common sense to do a better job at editing the tape...
Sad MSNBC very sad...
Hey Larry, do you remember Scott, Neal, Tim and Lamont from back in Harvard days? I'm hearing that they've collaborated and written a new book about you! "The secret tales of a very bi-sexual newsman named Larry, and how I paid for my Harvard education selling cocaine to other rich kids just like me, and extorting money from my rich Lawyer Dad who couldn't keep his hand off the neighbors wives and daughters". Or is it an autobiography? Who cares right Larry! What the hell does "truth and ethics" have to do with anything!? Right!
Wow! Pretty low, Mr. Lawrence. But I guess, to further your agenda, you will do and say anything. It is not even journalism, lower than low class to spin this in such a way to confuse a "horse" and "someone with MS". Shame. But then, I do not think you have any.
It's fortunate that you only have about 35 people watching you, otherwise this would be much, much worse. Don't you ever get tired of proving what a galactic douchebag you are?
I'm still wondering what the mighty straw man slayers above see as an insult to or slur on Ann Romney (Lawrence specifically mentioned the gravity of her condition in particularly sympathetic terms); the substance of this report is that Romney has it as a "business deduction" and not even a health care one per his claims...
'Nuff said...
I've got a new "theory of trolls" I'm working on... They act out even worse when their boy has a bad weekend, like Romney did after the President's "Immigration Coup."
the overall tenor of this post is anti-O'Donnel, Cab Driver, and I doubt that there are that many Rebublicans that bother to watch O'Donnell, and read this blog. So there are quite a few of Demovrats and Independents chiming in here on O'Donnell displaying just hoe desperate and low life his politics are.
Keep it up, Little Larry, as your audience shrinks to minimal levels and you are will be gone after your boy loses his bid for relection.
I have it on good authority that you're not a tenor when you're screaming at your computer screen after one of us manages a particularly adroit gelding...
You're strictly soprano, castrato...
And judging from the support I get, a lot of them like to see you play Barney to my Sheriff Andy...
When you're not doing one of the Pyles, of course...
