If you planned ahead today and looked up at the sky, you just may have seen Venus pass in front of the sun. If you missed it, you’re out of luck — the next Transit of Venus won’t occur until 2117. Cloudy skies blocked the view for some on the east coast, but many across the Americas and Asia were able to catch the unique sight this evening.

The ancients found great portents in the astronomical occurances, and perhaps their is truth there for us in the 21st century: quite the outcome in Wisconsin that coincided with this rare transit of venus across the sun; sort of like the shot fired across the bow of the 2012 national election, perhaps?
