In tonight's Rewrite we shared with you the story of a New York City teenager named Senait. Her family came to the United States nearly 20 years ago fleeing a war in the African nation of Eritrea.
Her story was first told in this video from the Young Women's Leadership Network. Senait was helped by the YWLN's CollegeBound Initiative which "empowers young women and men to realize their higher education and life potential by placing full-time college guidance experts in high-need public schools."
To learn more about these organizations or to see Senait's entire original video, just follow the links above.

Stunningly beautiful story. Congratulations to Senait on her achievement.
Fantastic! A wonderful story.
Lawrence O´Donnell,
You captivated every heart of my large family
with your fine presentation of the lovely Senait.
....and I also admire your courage
in discussing and criticizing the
"up-to-date" of the Constitution
in a dispassionate and factual way
with law professor Sanford Levinson.
Senait is a remarkable example of the symbolism of the engraving on the Statue of Liberty and what it represents. I hope those young enough to take advantage of the gifts bestowed upon them at their birth in this country stop and take a lesson from Senait and how she is using the benefits of living in this, as she has discovered, wonderful country.
How convenient in your diatribe you left out the HERO of the mess in Vietnam. Lyndon Banes Johnson!
