While President Obama is scheduled to attend several fundraisers with Bill Clinton Monday in New York City, his reelection campaign remains focused on Massachusetts.
Team Obama released a new TV ad, aiming to discredit Romney's economic record as governor of Massachusetts as "one of the worst in the country." The minute-long video, titled "We've heard it all before," claims under Romney's watch, he lead the state in the less than desirable ranking as "47th in job creation" and he "lost 40k manufacturing jobs" by outsourcing many of them to India. The voice-over concludes, "Romney economics: it didn't work then, and it won't work now."
According to the Boston Globe, the Romney campaign has never denied that Mass ranked 47th out of 50th in job creation while he was gov.
Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul hit back hard, saying they're "happy to compare the 4.7 percent unemployment rate Mitt Romney achieved in Massachusetts to President Obama’s weak record any day." Ouch.
President Obama received troubling economic news of his own. The latest job report from the Labor Department shows the economy added a disappointing 69,000 jobs in May, well under expectations.
The ad will air in nine battleground states most likely up for grabs in November: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada. Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

"Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul hit back hard, saying they're 'happy to compare the 4.7 percent unemployment rate Mitt Romney achieved in Massachusetts to President Obama’s weak record any day.' Ouch."
Sorry, but would WRONGLY infer that President Obama had ANYTHING to do with WHY unemployment climbed when the reality is he was handed off a pile of @!$%#.
You comment doesn't speak to why the rate increased last month, some 3&1/2 years after Obama's election, Bryan?
As to the Obama attack video following the debacle to the recent economic dismal news, the thruth of the matter is that Massachusetts new jobs were measured at a 50,000K plus level in the term of office of Mitt Romney, five times the growth of the labor force, and that the state went from 51st counting the District of Columbia at the beginning of his term, to 30th in the nation in new job creation while dropping the unemployment rate from 5.7% to 4.7%, one of the best rates in the country. That 47th figure that the Dems and in the bag for Obama liberal media like to toss out is actually the ranking over four years for the RATE of new job growth, which was 1.7% for Romney's term of office.
And what prey tell is that nonsense, MSNBC, about the Governor of Massachusetts outsourching manufacturing jobs to India? Are you seriously suggesting a public official has the capability of deciding and acting on private businesses in any manner other than tax policies and by being a cheerleader? I suppose you will just hope the gullible accept that outlandish lie.
As to the loss of manifacturing jobs, New England and the greater Northeast had been losing manufacturing jobs for two decades, some to NAFTA neighbors like Canada and Mexico (signed by Bill Clinton), a good many to China and other developing countries in Asia, and others to the Southeast States in our own country whose legislatures were passing favorable laws of benefit in tax structures and land availability and right to work status to lure them away.
Romney's economic development team in the Massachuisetts state house concentrated on building a future on the states leadership position in Education, and the increase of finance industries, technology indiustries, health and bio tech industries, retail industries, and goods transportation and warehousing industries, while developing favorable tax policies and providing free state supported higher education access to the top 25% of high school graduates to further develop a new world labor force for the new economnic realities. Sounds kind of like what Obama only talks about doing at the National level, minus the tax relief, of course! How's that working out for ya all, MSNBC?
Uh, Grandpa, the casino pit boss wants to see you about some chits you signed over on the "Bob Dylan poker table." I'm having trouble cashing all my chips in because he's still laughing at your insistence of how your flush beat a full house....
But of course if you're a poster child for Massachusetts' education, I can see there's a lot of room for improvement.
Top Ten Reasons for Voting this Poster off the Island
10. We're making a reality show, and we can't find a suitable actor. Larry Linville (Frank Burns on M.A.S.H.) passed away a few years ago, and Stephen Colbert insists he's too young for the part...
Again, drunkard, you can't argue with my facts and figures, can you. So what have you got to offer other than your own idosyncratic brand of meaningless bullcrap, clown?
Man, listen to him squeal... And here I am kind of frustrated that Lawrence ran a story on an old pol from hereabouts, former Utah Governor and Health and Human Services Director MIchael O. Leavitt. But there was no clip for me to put some local icing on that particular newscake.
That guy hates me worse than you, Grandpa, honest, and I only published a couple of letters detailing his doings here when he ruined a really good Fish & Wildlife Department when they exposed some careless--and environmentally toxic--business practices of his family...
I only had to write a few because some really insightful sorts did the rest, a couple of thoroughly professional reporters who managed to get the story out despite a bit of public apathy; Leavitt is shrewder than you, however, when he's caught he just dummies up...
Leavitt, incidentally, is another Mormon, and he's been profiting off "Obamacare" and trying to put together insurance operations in Massachusetts to comply with the law that mandates it be made available for all and not just the privileged sorts who somehow never manage to get sick.
Now take the 220,000 residents of Massachusetts who left or quit looking for work during his tenure, and plug them into those figures you're trying to pawn off. And take a look at the deficit he left the Bay State when he left office. As reported on Rachel Maddow...
9. Because he kept insisting it was okay to play Liars Poker with counterfeit bills...
$1.6 billion in the rainy day fund and a balanced budget when Romney left office.
Northeastern states were losing population to the Southeast and Southwest Sunbelt states as well as the North Central states for decades, and many of your trumped up number were those who sought retirement havens away from the bitter winters and the Democrat Party's changes in the tax laws of the state under Dukakis that included taxes on retirement income, like Social Security benefits. On top of high sales taxes and high local property taxes, that earned the state its monikor of Taxachusetts!
But not all left for the sunshine and cheaoer living either...some simply followed their jobs, and that means to Southeastern New Hampshire also, where the Live Free Or Die motto is flown proudly and where there still is no state income or sales tax today. However the influx of young people to the Boston area colleges and universities and the colleges and university in the Pioneer Valley centered around Northampton, Amherst, and Mt. Holyoke brought in new vibrant technologically trained workers to the growing industries in Masssachusetts that were recruited by the Romney economic initiatives to replace the old tool and die industries that headed south.
Picture a little clearer, or are you still seeing double, Cab Driver.
Lets see...Romney was able to raise fees for the users, but cut the regressive sales taxes for the whole of the state, balance the budgets every year erasing the over 2 billion dollar deficit left to him when he took office in the first year, obtain an increase in Massachusetts credit rating, left over 1.6 billion in the "rainy day fund" for his eventual successor Democrat Patrick Duval who immediately allowed the Democrat Party controlled spendthrift legislature to raid that fund, and build up a 2.6 billion dollar deficit again. Now what exactly is the bitch here, MSNBC and the Obama campaign?
This tact of lies isn't going to cut it. Better stop making excuses for you failures Obama, and get on with deciding how to change your failing policies to obtain some measure of success in the 5 months ahead. ABC/Washington Post latest poll has you with only a 42% favorable opinion amongst the likely voters surveyed, and with a 8.2% nominal unemployment rate and a real rate of 14.8% unemployed or underemployed, and that is with people not even showing up in the labor force as they've quite the hopeless task of trying to find work in your anti-business community and borrow and spend with the threat of upping the taxes down the road as soon as you can non growth economy.
You all might want to fact check Grandpa's claims against the following. My admittedly biased review only amounts to some reporting, but I consider the Massachusetts Office of the Treasurer pretty credible when they claim:
Massachussetts' long term debt increased by 16.4 percent, or by 2.6 billion over four years.
And...
The median hourly wage dropped by 5% during his first two years in office, the steepest drop in the nation (source: Boston Globe: 12/30-06)

Rachel Maddow reported this information as well, and Maddow is a resident of the Bay State.
SLC
Remembering Al Franken started out this way...
I was also a resident of Massachusetts, and not in a Hilltowns of Western Massachusetts country estate called home when I wasn't in my NYC apartment, but in the hard hit Southeastern portion of the state that saw the brunt of loss of especially electronic and textile industies due to EPA issues under the Clinton Administration, and the crack down on the Scalloping fleets with Federal offshore limits put on fishing grounds.
The long term debt increase was made possible by the improved credit rating obtained by the balanced budgets of the Romney years and the trimming state expenditures and the state aide given to municipalities for the feather bedding of employees on the public roles in an austerity move long needed by the beleagured tax payers, And just about all of that 2.6 billion was in bond issues that went to reduce the backlog of K-12 school renovation and new building that was on the planning stage when Romney took office as part of his improvements in Education initiatives,
Not at all the same as the floating Federal long term bonds to pay the deficits of annual Federal swell the government initiatives of Barrack Obama and the Dems in Congress, Cab Driver.

I realize that you were addressing that to the Cab Driver, but unlike me, he had the opportunity to get his college degrees, but as he does with everything in life, quit (he calls it putting it on hold, Annanto!). He a non completer...hence nothing he posts here should be taken seriously. Its all liberal fluff taken from an obsessive following of liberal blogs and MSNBC when he isn't driving his hack and going in and out of detox and rehab programs!
I still think Romney has a problem, but I just can't pin point it. It could be that he does not have coesive plan and as result he is going to contradict himself. I don't know if the Republicans can nominate someone els at this time, but I think they will at least consider it. I am not a gambler, but it would not be too much against great odds to predict that someone else will get the nomination. I just don't know how difficult that would be, but I am sure some republicans will consider it. I have talked with some very fundamental Baptist Church members who in the recent past would not think of voting anything but Republicans. Here is what they say, "Maybe Obama is our only choice this time". Others say, "I know some Mormons and they are good people". The fact that he is a Mormon wil get a lot of Mormon votes, but some Southern Baptist will not vote for hm. Maybe they will not vote or change their mind. Some Tele Evangalists are saying how bad Mormons are and bad mouthing Romney. Maybe they have had some influence on these Baptist that doubt voting for Romney. One person said, "The Mormons own a lot of businesses and if Romney is elected the they take over more bsinesses and even General Motors". It sounds crazy, but there are doubt about Romny.
You were on target with that comment on "sounds crazy", Agustus!
