More over North Carolina pastors. The blogosphere is abuzz over a disturbing new YouTube video of a little boy in Indiana, who seriously can't be over the age of five, singing an anti-gay song to roars of applause by his congregation.
A sampling of the hate-filled lyrics: "The Bible is right, somebody's wrong. Romans 1 and 27, ain't no homo gonna make it to heaven."
The congregation jumped to their feet for a standing ovation and you can hear a proud man shout in the background, "That's my boy!" It's upsetting on many levels.
The Apostolic Truth Tabernacle in Greensburg, Indiana, where this incident reportedly took place, today issued a statement on their website. "5/30/12 — The Pastor and members of Apostolic Truth Tabernacle do not condone, teach, or practice hate of any person for any reason. We believe and hope that every person can find true Bible salvation and the mercy and grace of God in their lives. We are a strong advocate of the family unit according to the teachings and precepts found in the Holy Bible. We believe the Holy Bible is the Divinely-inspired Word of God and we will continue to uphold and preach that which is found in scripture."

Its downright scary and a travesty that a 5 year old is learning to hate at such a young age, in a church, of all places.
It turns my stomach to think that this actually exists! They say they don't condone it but it really seems the opposite is true by the standing ovation the child received!
Their statement seems to contradict their opening statement. What a shock. You know, this crap has nothing to do with Christianity. Jesus never said a thing about homosexuality. He did forgive an adulteress. Adultery made the top 10 rules; homosexuality didn't. When asked about the most important commandments, Jesus didn't put either in the top 2. These people are already violating the 2nd most important commandment, according to Jesus Christ. Who's not going to get to Heaven? I wonder.
Just as a point of fact that these people never bring up, the penalty for homosexuality in the Old Testament is exactly the same as the penalty for adultry. Do they cast every re-married person out of their "church" and sing songs of hate about them?

You can post all of the quotes from your bible that you want, I can easily post quotes from works of fiction as well. They do not prove your case. You can't use the bible to prove religion, it was written by men for men.
Google 'religion or church accepts homosexuality and you will find plenty of examples of churches and denmoinations accepting homosexuals into their congregation. Just because your church is ignorant and bigoted doesn't mean all are (just most).

I do not think that church is exercising their right to speech. They seem to want to spread a message of hate. We all have free will and for exercising it we can not judge each other unless it involves harm to others like murder, rape. But when a Gay person loves someone and lives his life following the "love God over all things and our neighbors as themselves" no one can judge him except God. Of course apparently there are some who want to take the place of God and judge others and spread hate. But to use the innocence of a child to do it is really beyond wrong. In Mathew 25:31-46 there is not mention about the sexual orientation of those who will be judge worthy of entering into Jesus kingdom.
It is a good thing that Salvation is not in the hands of imperfect humans.
Freedom of speech is indeed a complicated thing. In the UK or Canada, this publication (e.g. Youtube broadcast) of defined "hate speech" qualifies for criminal charges.
We should also remember that in the Kingdom of God there shall be no gender or sexuality. So our concern on this issue to God is not an issue at all.

There is no way to equate gays with people of color. As a person of color, I find that insulting. I applaud these people for instilling morals and values in the fine lad. The mere fact that homosexuality has been made an issue for a 5 year old almost assures that he will be questioning it someday...say, right around the time he reaches puberty. "Morals and values" are only 'suggestions' to teens...they will do what they want.

As one who has worked in the domestic violence helping human services, I can tell you that their is a much higher prevalence of violence amonst lesbian and gay partners than heterosexual partners. Seems morality of faithfullness and sobriety is still alive and well in the heterosexual community of married folks, while the bisexual and infidelity run rampant through the queer crowd, as usual. That's the primary reason that with all our interventions since the 1980s, we still have 50,000 new cases of HIV infection each year in this country...amazing seeing that the total number of Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Gay, and Transgendered individuals of adult age is only a collective 3.2% of the adult population.
Most would be better of getting back in the closet, and trying to keep from infecting each other and other innocents as much as they can.

Even if one is to "find" a prohibition against love between members of the same sex in the Sacred Scriptures (And many up-standing Christian theologians do not, BUT focus on the "issues" of Paul the Apostle and author of Romans.), I believe the Master's admonition was to "love the sinner; hate the sin." (See Romans 5:8)
And what happens when this young man grows up and finds he has a "special attraction" to his buddies? What would the "that's-my-boy" Dad do when his son acknowledges his "sin," or worse, ends his own life because he cannot stand as an "abomination before the LORD GOD?"

Jesus never spoke of homosexuality or abortion. Although he lived in a country occupied by the infamously homosexual Roman military and rife with rape motivated abortions, He chose instead to speak of 2 issues, love of God, love of neighbour. He strongly opposed divorce and he advocated a system of freely sharing food and healing with everyone. He encouraged his followers to do the same. To think that Jesus of Nazareth would ever condone let alone approve of teaching a 3 year old to warble hatred of any group of people shows a deep misunderstanding of the man's teachings and ethics.
