The DNC is going after Mitt Romney for a campaign event and fundraiser with some right wing favorites. But as MSNBC's Martin Bashir explains, Romney's choice of companions pales in comparison to his legacy of moral transgressions.
Of Mitt Romney and morality

This is devastating. Eviscerating Mitt.
If you that fop Bashir say so, Brian.
You have to show Romney did not speak the truth in his statements against Obama's record and his record at Bain and as Governor, not just say he didn't and let it go at that!
In the McClain incident, the somewhat befuddled woman who made the statement that Obama was Arab required immediate correction as the claim was ludricrous.
With the articulate woman asking a question of Romney at the Town Hall meeting she made a statement perhaps referring to the unconstitutional grab for power in the Obama Care Act that is now before the Supreme Court of the United States and to receive a ruling on its constitutionality within a month, and yet the Obama administration is full steam ahead with it, especially with the spending on its provisions from a "slush fund" established to draw unbudgetted funds from, including funds going to Planned Parenthood Inc. which are in no way sequestered from their Abortion Mill operations, inviolation of Federal Law, especially the longstanding Hyde Amendment. And now we have the Catholic Church Dioceses suing the Health and Human Services for their refusal to grant extensions to them which would recognize their religious tenents protected by the Constitution of the U.S. for the unabridged right to religious beliefs and practices over the Obama Care free access to contraception and abortion causing Plan B medications that one Sandra Fluke believed she was entitled to as a student at Georgetown Law School, another violation of Obama's oath of office to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States. She, sir, is entitled to express her opinion under the Free Speech provision of the Constitution, you know? And exactly what is the unbrage you feel for her having done so, and why are you feigning being upset with Romney for when he was specifically asked if he agreed that Obama should be tried for treason, he answered simply NO!
As to the Rush Limbaugh insults of Sandra Fluke, Romney simply answered he wouldn't have chosen to use those words, and there is umbrage again taking at that stance?
What is devastating here Brian and Bashir are backing a candidate who seems to believe the path to reelection is to court the Sandra Flukes of this country, and his willingness to write off other parts of his base, including the Regan Democrats and Indpendents that are fixing to make of Barrack Obama a one term president just as they did the like failed Jimmy Carter.
Martin Bashir earned a loud honk of my horn with his "Mitt the Mendacious" a few weeks ago. C'était magnifique...
Moving on, in the course of claiming how easy a job school teaching was and that he'd done it successfully, Grandpa was bragging about his prowess with the Queen's English on another thread. He then treats us to these...
"If you have that top Bashir, say so Brian."
And...
"Regan [sic] Democrats and Indpendents that are fixing to make of Barrack Obama a one term president just as they did the like failed Jimmy Carter."
I couldn't do better discrediting him if I were the sort who makes things up. I was going to look at his "no such thing as global warming" rants, but they fixed the ol' police interceptor, and I'm going to go gather up the drunks and tuck them into tonight to keep the rest of the valley safe. Most of them will be more coherent than Fuzzie...
Last item for Grandpa. Let's try a little bit of applied Kohlberg...
"How would you feel if someone like Limbaugh called one of your daughters a slut on a nationwide radio program?"
'Nuff said...
That opening line was "If YO FOP say so, Brian" An errand hit on the "u" ust made it look like "you", but it works either way. A little play on Bashir's upper class British citizen background combined with duel references to his "Raegae" musical efforts and his infamous interview and documentary of Michael Jackson in 2003 that even the NY Times castigated severly. This British citizen posing as a journalist is a well know progandaizing bore, and has exactly "0" respect from true journalist as he does nothing but oscilate between unfounded insinuations and hyperpolic attacks. Quite the idiosyncratic style, but apparently as MSNBC pays him for the (laughing) 3:00 PM new hour, well I guess the idiots that get their daily dose of anti Republican invective will watch. But that's not saying much.
As the the closing para and the quoted out of context predicte phrase, I see absolutely nothing wrong with that!
"Not the words I would have used"! Get over it! Limbaugh ain't running for anything, and never will...he is a shock jock, and nothing else. But it pales in comparison to the terms Mayher uses to describe Rebublican women, and the nasty jokes he likes to roll out at their expense...not repeatable here on this family blog. And Obama still has his $1 million dollar reelection campaign contribution in the bank. Haven't seen any disowning coming from that quarter that gave such a pretty speech in Arizona about civility in public political discourse.
There is one thng that will prevent Romney to win in November. There is somethng about him that a lot of people just do not like. It is irrational, but we will know the answer for sure in November. I think that Bush won because he seemed like someone that is able to have a drink with you. Also the second reason was that he is good looking. You would be surprised how important this is. One good thng about Obama is that he seems relaxed. Being nervous or angry is often interpreted as if the person is wrong even though he may be right. A person often becomes angry because he doubt what he believes.
Grandpa is telling the truth when he says he sees nothing wrong with his paragraph...
Others of us who were paying attention in school do...
And it's Maher, not "Mayher,"
And the money was donated to a PAC, not to Obama.
Bashin' Bashir had a lovely negative vibes show today, Cab Driver. He gets his share of strokes from both David Korn and Johnathan Alter, two avowed Rebublican, and especially Romney haters.
The theme throughout was a faked state of incensed "tesh, teshing" and "head shaking" over Romney's appearance in fund raising events with Donald Trump. Oh the horror!
When are these fat heads going to realize that to those who see some past or present lingering argument in the "birther" issues they are not going to be voting for Obama, but Romney anyhow, for those that think it's such an outrage of political speech for anyone to espouse "birther" sentiments that that group are going to vote for Obama, and not Romney. And for the vast majority who believe the issue is not important, they will make their decisions on how they vote on other factors.
No right thinking voter is going to hold the fact that Obama was the result of the liaison of a married student from Kenya (whose wife was back in the African country) and a starry eyed anthropology 19 yr old student from Kansas, who delivered their child and whose family support his claim he was born in Hawaii where his grandparents moved to in their retirement, and where he was sent to live by his mother when he was as a boy after his initial year living with his mother and Muslim stepfather, the Indonesian millionaire, in Indonesia during his critical first 5 years of life, the formative years.
Of course, Bashir was visibly shaken when Jonathan Alter went off script, and mentioned the overwhelming support that are present and former military men and women give to Romney, instead of their "Commander in Chief" Barrack Hussien Obama in all the polls, higher than even John McCain garnered running as the Republican candidate against Obama in 2008. Omnious!
Ben Stein needs to use some Visene IN HIS EYES, SO IT CAN AID HIM WITH THIS POLITCAL VISION. HE IS INDEED AN INTELLECTUAL IDIOT, AS MANY ARE. JUST BECAUSE YOU STAND IN THE GARAGE DOES NOT MAKE YOU A CAR.
Nor does Ben Stein going on Fox or game shows make him a political genius.
by law you have to have both parents be born in the states and yourself to be president, obama father was not born in america.so by law he should not be eligible for president.
You know Willards dad was born in Mexico, don't you? And that his grandparents, 1 grandpa, 5 grandma's were criminals & fugitives.
Wrong, James. Just the presidential candidate has to have American birth. Many of our past presidents, including George Washington, wouldn't have been President if it was required that his parents both be American born.
Thank you Lawrence on your piece about Mitt tries to rewrite civil rights. The Obama team should use this relentlessly.
You are one of the few who bring up Willard's draft dodging days and for that, I applaud you.
All the adjectives to describe Mitt Romney's lack of character have been used up. But I get particularly upset when I think about the fact that he's a draft-dodger who supported the draft. That he never joined the military and seeks to be the Commander and Chief is the epitome of snobbery and arrogance. That he has five sons, none of whom have ever served a day in the service of this country only leaves me to conclude they are a family of COWARDS. He's more than willig to send every other mother's sons and daughters to war, but not his own. That's more than immoral, that's diabolical.
The draft ended in the 1970s in the US, Gene. The all volunteer military of our nation since then has been comprised of men and women who are 1) individuals looking for a career in military service, and these individuals gravitate to the combat arms Military Occupational Specialities 2) individuals looking for an opportunity to provide service to their country while gaining the benefits of such things as leadership training, team building skills, and often job training in useful technical Military Occupational Specialities, and 3) individuals looking for a leg up from low skilled, low pay level prospects, or worse unemployment, underemployments, and/or a path to citizenship; they are also enlisting for the incentive of receiving in service and post service further education financing opportunities. Less than 10% of our active military serve in combat arms roles, I hope you are aware.
So you go ahead and make your accusations. That Romney chose to apply for a deferment from the draft immediately while he undertook his post secondary school and precollege years Missionary Service as per the tenents of his Religious faith is no reason to denigrate him as a "coward", or to so designate his sons as such. Get a life, loser!
I think the majority on both sides of the aisle recognize that the Citizens United Decision is an abomination and a direct attack on our democracy. They are not operating independently of actual campaigns, and everyone knows it.
These Superpacs have a builtin vulnerability. They cannot accept foreign money, or money from foreigners, Americans don't know who is contributing. It is intentionally set up to keep those donating hidden, but if a lawsuit was filed claiming that foreigners had contributed, they would have to provide a list of contributors.
All of us have friends that were foreign born. Many of us had friends that are still foreign nationals. If some of these people contributed directly to a Superpac and admitted to it, that would be a basis to force into the light a list of doners. If an anonymous American group contributed, but it was revealed that some of those funds came from a foreigner or a foreign entity; this would also force into the light these doners. If a foreigner said, even incorrectly, that the believed their funds were comingled into a Superpac, a court would have to demand that a contributors list be provided to those filing the lawsuit. That is; THE END OF CITIZENS UNITED!
