In our book, he officially overtook Sean Harris as the Most Offensive Pastor in the state of North Carolina. In Harris' hot mess hate sermon, as we mentioned before, he encouraged church-goers to vote against marriage equality, make "butch" daughters "smell like girls" and punch effeminate boys.
They're making people like Rev. Dr. William J. Barbero of Goldsboro, North Carolina seem like a rarity. In a recent Rewrite segment, Lawrence O’Donnell honored Barbero, who so eloquently spoke out against the constitutional amendment banning marriage equality in that state.

I have complete respect for the 1st Amendment in our Constitution. The United States of America prides itself on the freedom of speech and freedom of religion. However, what this man is preaching is not a religion. He is preaching hatred, violence, and death. This is exactly what Adolf Hitler did during his reign of terror on the world. Yes, Marriage is a religious thing, but it is governed legally by the state. To make this fair, since Civil Union is nowhere in the bible, or any other religious text, it can not therefore be delegated by the religious institutions. you keep your "marriage", let the gays keep their "civil union", and go on your merry way. After all, the rights each hold are not up to your religion, its up to the government.

Instead of blaming God for all the bad things that happen, here is a better idea.
Terrible thngs happen as a result of the fundamental laws of nature or someone making a decision. When that happens, if we turn to God the terrible thing can turn out to be better or even that a terrible things can become wonderful thing. This give God credit for the good that happens and what caused the terrible thing does not get any credit. Also it does not blame God for the terroble thing.
True followers of Christ will be known by their fruit. If a person believes homosexuality is a sin against God, as suggested in the Bible, that is one thing. By pontificating hateful words and judging another imperfect human this misguided "Christian Pastor" also commits a sin against God. The 2 greatest commandments, first, Love God the Father with all your heart and 2nd, Love one another also. This man does not represent the true nature of Jesus' message or the hope of God's Kingdom. I hear over and over again ministers and pastors say that God causes bad things to test us and at the same time say that God know everything ahead of time. How an a normal brain hodl such beliefs?
