Newark Mayor Cory Booker (file)
Democratic Newark Mayor Cory Booker just landed himself some new BFFs within the Republican Party. The Republican National Committee today launched an "I Stand With Cory" petition in a nod to his mega political fumble on Sunday's Meet The Press.
It reads, "Yesterday New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker, a surrogate spokesman for the Obama campaign called the president's attacks on the free market 'ridiculous'. That's right Mr. President, we aren't going to let you destroy free enterprise. Stand up for America. Stand up for job creators."
The Obama re-election campaign has been attacking Mitt Romney's claim that he created tens of thousands of jobs while working at the private equity firm Bain Capital. The rising Democratic star and Obama campaign surrogate committed one of the ultimate political sin by speaking out against this narrative within his own party.
On MTP, he criticized Team Obama's attacks on Bain. "If you look at the totality of Bain Capital's record they've done a lot to support businesses, to grow businesses. And this to me, I'm very uncomfortable with," Booker said. "This kind of stuff is nauseating to me on both sides."
As Chris Christie would say, "Boooooker..." (shakes fist).
Perhaps sensing he was in the DNC doghouse, Booker quickly walked back his comments on YouTube following the interview. "Let me be clear: Mitt Romney has made his business record a centerpiece of his campaign. He's talked about himself as a job creator and, therefore, it is reasonable — and, in fact, I encourage it — for the Obama campaign to examine that record and to discuss it. I have no problem with that,” Booker said.
Later this afternoon, President Obama further articulated the crux of his argument. "When you're President, as opposed to when you're head of a private equity firm, your job is not simply to maximize profits. Your job is to figure out how everybody in the country has a fair shot," Obama summed it up. "If your main argument for how to grow the economy is ‘I-knew-how-to-make-a-lot-of-money-for-investors’ then you're missing what this job is about."

Corey, you screwed up. Now apologize to the DNC and move on. The RNC will spend millions to perpetuate the "I'm with Corey" nonsense. Regarding those who are Romney supporters, here are two words to remember in the voting booth: Magic underpants.
Cory Booker is nothing more than a Mayor….he needs to keep his mouth shut! He only got in the spot light over saving someone from a fire. That doesn't make him an expert on politics.
You won't hear this interesting factoid from MSNBC; one of the current upper level executives at Bain Capital is a known bundler of contributions to the Obama campaign and the Democrat Party. Mayor Cory Booker knows the true history of the successes of Bain in the free market system (a 78% rate of success in buyouts, restructurings, and workouts of previously failing compamnies in troubled industries, including the steel and paper products industries the Obama campaign has found a couple of eventual gone bankrupt companies to focus their ads on). Note: those two bankruptcy examples in Obama's negative attack ad campaign failed two and three years after Romney left his active role of founder and CEO of Bain Capital in 1999 to manage the turn around of the 2000 Winter Olympics, and his campaigns for Senator and Governor of Massachutts. And those two bankruptcies took place during the recession caused by the stock market duldrums of the Clinton Administration dot.com bubble burst, and the blow to the economy of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Booker is a man of integrity, and he's not buying the "Chicago Smack" of the Obama crowd!
Uh Grandpa, the Olympics were here in 2002, not 2000... I know. I was here.
Romney left Baine in 1999... Ampad went bankrupt in 2000 (before 9/11, and Baine acquired Ampad in 1994). 1500 jobs were lost, and Baine profited to the tune of 100 million dollars... Doubtless some of that money went to Romney
And here's the rest of that steel mill story, with the mill being acquired on Romney's watch...

What's more, a federal government insurance agency had to pony up $44 million to bail out the company's underfunded pension plan. Nevertheless, Bain profited on the deal, receiving $12 million on its $8 million initial investment and at least $4.5 million in consulting fees.
And you should've seen Booker backtracking as fast as he could on Maddow tonight... My take: He had a "Sarah Palin Moment," only he ranks 20 points higher in the IQ department...
Oh man, Letterman just threw Romney off a cliff... I'll post a video link tomorrow if someone doesn't beat me to it...
Here's one more on the Ampad story...

Butt ugly stuff...
You suck at the poisioned pap of "the daily kos" Cab Driver? Your sources are laughable leftist liars you know?
When he was governor Mitt`s state was 47th in the nation in job creation. Mitt only knows how to destroy jobs not create them. Mitts talks a very good talk but he cant walk the walk. Mitt is the one who wants to run on his business acumen. He cant run on his record as governor & why not? He knows why. Lets get the examples from Mitt about his great experience! Come on Mitt show us what you have done, fess up!!!!!!!!!!
MSNBC is making this issue worse by continuing to talk about it. STOP!!!!!
That's all MSNBC knows what to do. When you have IDIOTS like Matthews, O'Donnell, Fat Ed, the Rev Sharpton and Maddow, what eles would you expect.
The cost of higher education is ridiculous, my son wanted to go to college but we could not afford so we choose the High Speed Universities for his education while working now he working for fortune 500
Both sides do it. When someone makes a statement that damages his own side, the opposition uses it against him. Both sides do it so stop the whining. This 'gaffe' is a gold mine since Obama wants to make his whole campaign about Bain.
when is everyone going to shut this kind of media coverage down ??????
yea where is the investigation on rompney yo yo !!!!
rompney takes-ith from the people. he is a greedy power hungry assh**e !!!!!
GO CORY BOOKER !!!!
Yo and Obama tell it like it is this whole scene is absolutely TRUE !!
ROMPNEY YO YO DOES NOT KNOW WHAT "JOB" MEANS !!!!!
I particularly appreciated this interview of Cory Brooker by Rachael Meadow and enjoyed the what he had to say about the need for clear articulation of issues and need for straightforward, mud slinging free content of ads and presentations that present information clearly and cleanly so people can make considered decisions that will actually support the growth and well being of us all here in the USA and the well being of us all.
Hear, hear! Of course, O'Donnell and Mathews and Schultz wanted no part of that, and the racist Sharpton didn't want to have any part of throwing brother Booker under the bus!
Booker talked Truth to Power, the only issue i had with him was his scramble to partially try to "walk it back" after he got leaned on hard, no doubt, by the Chicago crowd. And his confusing the non-starter "consultant" shopped Jerimeah Wright possible ad campaign with the actual on going negative attack ads run by the Obama Campaign in desperation!
Now they have the Catholic Church again up in arms suing the Obama Administration's arses in Federal Court over their naked attempt to "buy" women's votes cheaply by requiring the church to go against it's religious theocracy by mandating co-pay free contractives for employees and students in their churches, universities and schools, hospitals, and charitable organizations, to include abortion causing drugs.
And I thought the Chicago Crowd was supposed to be smart?
Oh, goody. More psycho-babble from the teabagger Keith ...
I'm a member of the largest bloc of voters in the country, vfeinstein, the 41% who call themselves Independents.
Let's see, first Mayor CoryBooker, then Congressman and former DNC leader Harold Ford, then Obama's former Car Czar Steve Rattner, then former Governor Ed Randell of Pennsylvania, and then past Secretary of State and NSC Chief and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Powell, and now also Governor Partick Duvall of Massachusetts all have come forward in interviews in the media to admit that they believe Bain Capital was a "good" private equity firm that had a good record of success in their takeovers, restructurings, and workouts of previously failing companies in troubled industries. Rattner and Powell in fact relate that they are presently members of Board of Directors of private equity firms, and both state that private equity investment firms serve a very important function in our free market capitalism. All are also former and current supporters of Barrack Obama, and only Colin Powell is not a registered Democrat.
And they all believe that the Obama Campaign is barking up the wrong tree in their present negative ad campaign against Bain Capital and Romney's values as being the founder and former CEO for 25 years of the country's largest and most successful private equity investment firm, Bain Capital, with it's 78% rate of successful achievements. (Pardon the dog reference, but that dog Obama is trying his best to get elected with a dog eat dog campaign that is both disgusting and "sickening", as Mayor Cory Booker put it!
