The Obama-Biden campaign releases ads recounting Mitt Romney's days running Bain Capital, asking if Romney is even able to "care about the average working person." We'll be talking about this and some of these other stories tonight at 10pm ET. What headlines have you been clicking on?

May I suggest that you follow the example of "Democracy Now!" regarding the choice of topics?
"At least 11 people have been killed in a pair of apparent U.S. drone attacks in southern Yemen. Yemeni officials said the victims were alleged al-Qaeda militants. The attack would mark at least the second U.S. drone strike in the past week following the killing of a suspect wanted in the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole."
"The Obama administration is proceeding with military sales to Bahrain despite the ruling monarchy’s ongoing repression of pro-democracy protests. On Friday, the State Department announced it will allow a multi-million-dollar weapons shipment to the Bahraini government, citing "national security interests." The announcement came just days after the Bahraini government vowed "tougher action" in its crackdown on protesters."
"Representatives of Palestinian prisoners have reportedly reached a tentative agreement with Israel that could end a massive hunger strike by some 2,000 people behind bars. Al Jazeera reports a draft deal mediated in Egypt would see Israel change its administrative detention policies to no longer hold Palestinian prisoners without charge."
There was also a great interview with Noam Chomsky. Among other things, he said this: "So, take, say, the assassination of Osama bin Laden. I mean, I’m a small minority of people who think that was a crime. I don’t think you should have a right to invade another country, apprehend a suspect - remember, he’s a suspect, even if you think he’s guilty - apprehend him, after he’s apprehended and defenseless, assassinate him and throw his body into the ocean. Yeah, civilized countries don’t do that sort of thing."
Come on. Don't be cowards. Bash the US president. He deserves it.
I don't agree with most of what Barry does but, I just don't see any downside to taking out Yemen.
I know, I know. You support the murdering of people unless, of course, it's done to you or someone you love. Double standards are sooo convenient ... and also widespread in the US of A. No wonder that the rest of the world despises your country.
Just curious. Are you from Germany but live in the US or do you live in Germany?
I am from Germany and live in Germany.
Dorothea: Maybe we should arrest 'em gas'em and stick 'em in the oven!
lol
That was uncalled for, Joca (and Dorothea drives me nuts when she suggested Bin Laden should've been captured and tried. Such an idea was wholly unrealistic, and it was obvious Bin Laden was not going to surrender peacefully).
We of European descent don't look any better with our forbearers' treatment of Native Americans or blacks whose ancestors were brought here as slaves.
I keep finding these posts more and more confusing - are you saying that Germany is not a civilized country or that we should have buried bin Laden in the sand or that bin Laden lied in 2004 when he admitted to being responsible for 9/11 and was planning more attacks or that Germany despises America or is that just you? I'm sure all of this relates somehow to Bain Capital and their selection of Leveraged Buyout targets - but I'm having a lot of trouble seeing it. Perhaps it will all be obvious in the morning.

@ joca41: Maybe we should arrest 'em gas'em and stick 'em in the oven!
Clearly, you don't understand the difference between killing and not killing as well as between past and present.
@ SL Cabbie: Dorothea drives me nuts when she suggested Bin Laden should've been captured and tried. Such an idea was wholly unrealistic
Did you watch the documentary about how Bin Laden was caught? He could have been easily captured alive and tried. But sadly, self-righteous people prefer vigilantism and vengeance to actual justice. And even if it were unrealistic to capture someone alive, that still wouldn't make killing okay. While fighting terrorism, the USA became a terrorist itself. Pretty much like Israel. While fighting oppression, Israel became an oppressor itself. Former injustice doesn't justify reverse injustice.
Noam Chomsky also said this on "Democracy Now!":
"If the Bush administration didn’t like somebody, they’d kidnap them and send them to torture chambers; if the Obama administration decides they don’t like somebody, they murder them, so you don’t have to have torture chambers all over. Actually, that tells us something else. Just take a look at the first Guantánamo detainee to go to trial under Obama. Trial means military commission, whatever that is. The first one was Omar Khadr. And what was his crime? His crime was that when he was 15 years old, he tried to defend his village against an attack by U.S. forces in Afghanistan. So that’s the crime, therefore he’s a terrorist. So he was sent to Bagram, then to Guantánamo, eight years in these torture chambers. And then he came up for trial under Obama. And he was given a choice: you can plead not guilty and stay in Guantánamo for the rest of your life, or you can plead guilty and get another eight years. So his lawyers advised him to plead guilty. Well, that’s justice under our constitutional law president, for a 15-year-old kid defending his village against an attacking army. And the worst part is, there’s nothing said about it."
@ Adam_Selene: I keep finding these posts more and more confusing
I suggest that you read my posts more thoroughly. This will answer all your questions.
Regarding Bin Laden: The confession doesn't change the fact that he would have deserved a trial. Also, death penalty (with or without trial) is inappropriate in any case, because it violates human rights.
Odd - the more I read them - the more confusing they become - but in a way you are correct - they do answer all of my questions about you.
Thank you,
Adam_Selene
Not one topic in that long list of topics to consider that has to do with The Pi** Poor state of the Economy, High Unemployment and higher Underemployment and people dropping out of the Labor force in growing numbers monthly, a failure to enact a sane Energy program, and the mounting Debt and Deficit financing of an Unbudgetted Federal Government. And that doesn't even begin to address the issues off our shores of a flagging Defense posture, and the Chinese communist capatalists cutting our throats still daily.
Time to get with the program, O'Donnell, and get off the social issue distractions that are the basic level are individual state issues, and deal with the issues of national signifigance in the election ahead of us.
