I'm fervently annoyed by this religious conversation that we keep having. All elected officials should be sworn in on a copy of the Constitution, or the flag of a fallen soldier, and not a religious text. I support religious freedom, as well as a freedom from religion. Swear your loyalty not to party nor faith, but to country and humankind...moving on...
Wow, thank you, Keith. I guess you know me better than I know myself. That's really romantic. <3
I chose to be gay? About what age did I make the decision? I forgot to write it down when I chose. :/
Also, what's my favourite colour? Favourite movie? Middle name? First pet's name? When's my birthday? I mean, to make such a broad judgment about five percent or more of the human population, you must know us all so well that you understand our psyche better than The American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, National Association of Social Workers, The Royal College of Psychiatrists, and The American Academy of Pediatrics.. all of which state that sexual orientation is est. in early childhood, and determined by a number of factors, none being overt choice.
Man, I swear, if gay marriage were legal, we could run off together right now! I've never met anyone with the ability to know all about me before he even knew I existed. This is some real destiny stuff, here, guys.
There is a long established school of thought that the perverse sexual orientation choice is made in the case of an individual experiencing an arrested state of adolescent development as they enter their adult years. Anything prior to that of a homosexual nature is exploration only.
Not having strong male and female role models in early childhood would play a part, I agree with you. But in a normal family environment of strength of male and female role models, the normal individual develops their sense of sexuality wholistically as the society and nature intended. Sorry you missed out, Cassidy. Sounds like you have a good sense of humor about that, though!
Really tired of right wingers getting it wrong. The pledge of alligiance was written by a Baptist minister that UNDERSTOOD the separation of church and state and its vital importance. The original pledge DID NOT include the phrase 'Under God'. That phrase was, awkwardly, added in the 1950's by religious zealots who dreamed of rewritting history and imposing their imagined Christian State vision where none ever existed. The Pledge sounds so much better with God left out, as it was meant to be. Try it. This country was founded on freedom, not Christianity. Did Christ ever impose his views on others? Ever? Maybe you who claim to be Christians should go back and actually LEARN (and practice) the lessons He taught. Understanding, Tolerance and Love. 'Do unto others'<---- pretty simple and profound stuff.
"We hold these truths to be self evoident, that man was endowed by his Creator with certain inalienable rights..." and I doubt if you can find that our forefathers (and I had two relatives that stood against the British at Concord Bridge when the "shot heard round the world" was fired) ever thought marriage was anything other than a union recognized by the church ahd the state to be between a man and woman, the rise of the hedonistic "me me me" generation that has 3.5% of adults in this country self identifying as lesbian, bisexual, gay, or transgendered. And of that small minority only a small proportion are "demanding" that what is seen to be a privalege be considered a right, just because they as individuals once failed their "rites of passage".
"Don't know much about History.
Don't know much about Biology. . ."
I wonder if we are on the "right" side of History.
Does favoring, for example, same-sex marriage,
even multiple marriages; the legalization of drugs,
prostitution, gambling, bestiality; open borders;
food restrictions; higher taxes; massive government;
etc. etc. mean we are on the "right" side of History?
That's what the Liberal left keeps telling us.
If so, how do we measure the Rise and Fall of
Nations? Does being on the "right" side of History
guarantee that we will NOT fall? Historically speaking,
haven't all nations fallen who probably thought they were
on the "right" side of History?
I wonder what would happen if we were, just for once,
on the "wrong" side of History? Do you think our chances
of long term survival might be greater.
"Don't know much about this and that.
Don't know much about tit for tat."
Its Sodom and Gemorrah and the decadent late phase of the Roman Emperor all rolled into one, Paul Deane!

courage is the bigger person who tells people whats in their heart
obama 2012
I really doubt that you could have any insight into what is in Obama's heart, he is steeled and skilled in divining the political moment more than any other Democrat I have ever seen.
Keith
Do you think those that are cheering marriage equality would cheer taxation equality?
Watched your show tonight Lawrence...stop taking the Scriptures out of context. Perkins may have gotten it wrong about 1 man/1 woman - but the point of God's Word is that it comes down to a man and woman or a man and many women! lol
Not two guys or two women!!
Hollywood is out of touch with main stream America...and so is this President !
"Abrogation of Old Covenant laws"
The Bible's prohibition on homosexuality is part of the Old Covenant.
The Old Covenant does not apply to modern day Christians. The Old Covenant Laws were abolished and repealed by God himself, aka Jesus.
Jesus Christ IS God. Jesus said in the Bible that the Old Covenant laws of Leviticus no longer apply, and God has replaced these laws with the New Covenant.
The Old Covenant include laws such as 'Eating Shellfish and Pork is an abomination, women must wear veils, and the prohibition on homosexuality. The Old Covenant forbids wearing cloth made out of a mix of wool and linen, and it forbids gossip & cursing.
The New Covenant is established by God himself.
This article explains Jesus' statements on homosexuality and the Old VS New Covenant:
www Jesus on Homosexuality dot com
Christian supersessionism claims the abrogation of Old Covenant laws by Christian New Covenant laws of faith in Christ. It is the idea that a New Covenant of the trinitarian God with the Christians and the Christian Church replaces, fulfills or completes God's covenant with the Children of Israel and B'nei Noah.
The Old Covenant Laws, INCLUDING the prohibition on homosexuality, was replaced with the New Covenant Commandment:
Matthew 22:36-40
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
