Zimmerman’s defense team launched the social media campaign to keep people updated on the case. While they admit it’s an “unusual” step for a high-profile, criminal case, his lawyers say they want it to serve as a way to keep fact from rumor and create a public forum for discussion.
On the website, George Zimmerman Legal Case, the defense team writes, “We do understand and acknowledge the criticism that this is an opportunistic move using the event of a tragedy for personal or firm gain. Rest assured, that if the controversy surrounding this matter subsided tomorrow, so would our efforts to address the perceived problems the way we feel is necessary.”
George Zimmerman is facing second-degree murder charges for killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February. Zimmerman's former, personal website was taken down last week. He had raised more than $200,000 in donations through that site — although none of that money had been disclosed during Zimmerman's bond hearing.

Will I be seeing FREE GEORGE ads on my Facebook timeline asking for donations to his living expenses and defense fund? I thought O'Mara was doing this pro bono and George's wife can support him.
Justice for Trayvon
As usual, this media frenzy has led to a threat of no justice being accomplished and George Zimmerman's handlers have no shame. It was bad enough when after a lot of good intentioned people protested, that led civil libertarians practically wetting themselves trying to be THE person defending Trayvon Martin's memory. Then there was a dog and pony show that followed while waiting for the judge to come to her decision to issue a warrant. Now it's going to be handled in the social media forum where defenders of both sides will weigh in to make things even worse. I can only hope Martin's parents are letting this nonsense flow by them and hold on to the hope that any good can come out of this debacle.
What you overlooked is that without your so called ' dog and pony show' Zimmerman would never have been arrested and brought to trial, thus preventing any form of justice.
This lawyer is as disgusting as his client. If he is doing this to make sure that only the truth gets out regarding the facts of the case, then he needs to start with the Zimmerman family and all the lies they put out everytime they open their mouths.
One article said that the killer only had $150,000.00 left from the $204,000.00 that he raised on his site, the rest was used for living expenses. Where was he living to go through that much money in such a short period of time?
It's pretty clear the majority of the ones financially supporting him are the NRA and 'stand your ground' radicals who don't want their ridiculous laws changed.
I don't believe for one second his lawyer didn't know about this money like he claims, and only learned about it after the hearing. People around the world knew about it . He has staff to follow everything that is said in interviews and print, yet this missed this gem. Not buying it, he is as big a liar as his client and to say he didn't think Zimmerman and his wife and parents weren't being misleading is a joke.
If they truly didn't know then he was also lying to them to keep all the money for himself, which shows what kind of character he has or lack of character and that he will lie about anything to anybody when it benefits him.

I am in complete agreement with your Post.However,you like so many Bloggers,fail to delve further in his premeditated motive for killing Tray Martin.Remember this question being asked by the Operator;what is he doing now ? Zimmerman, "he has his hands in his waist"the connotation is, Tray Martin, had a weapon,thus giving justification in killing him. I do hope the DA pursue this line of thought. Also,take into consideration Zimmerman,wanted to be in the Police Force,through the back door,on the dark side of the law.Glad he got caught, before he could bring shame upon the thousands of fine Police Officers throughout our land.
I wasn't addressing the altercation only the money he raised on his site and the lawyers so called statement of not knowing about it.
I've stated my feelings about Zimmerman's motive and frame of mind in other posts. I do believe you can't believe one self serving word that comes out of Zimmerman's mouth or his family's mouths. Their stories keep changing as the video and audio contrary evidence emerges.
George Zimmermen has social media to counter what the liberal media had done to him and his wife and parents in their racebaiting ginning up of the hysterical crowd. MSNBC has courted and supplied a regular platform for Trayvon Martin's parents, and continues to do so. Fair is fair; no one has the right to railroad a defendant to a life without parole sentance for actions that appear to have been in self defense.
Let the case go to trial in due time. Meanwhile, the need is definitely there for Zimmerman and his attorney counterbalance the attempt by the leftist media to taint the potential jury pool with the distortions of their "reporting" and comentary.
