First they wanted him, then they didn’t, now they want him again. Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee tried to quit today, and failed.
The Sanford City Commission rejected his resignation in a 3-2 vote, with some officials deeming it the result of political pressure from City Manager Norton Bonaparte.
The embattled police chief stepped down temporarily in March after facing an onslaught of criticism for not making an arrest much earlier in the Trayvon Martin shooting case. At the time, city leaders issued an official vote of "no confidence."
"City Manager Norton Bonaparte, Jr. and Chief Lee had reached an agreement which needed City Commission approval," stated a press release from city officials. "The Chief went on Administrative Leave status a month ago in an effort to aid in restoring calm to the City in the wake of protests surrounding the Trayvon Martin investigation."
Lee will now remain on paid leave while the investigation continues into the death of the unarmed teenager, with Captain Darren Scott filling in as top cop.
This comes on the same day Trayvon Martin's shooter, George Zimmerman, slipped out of jail on $150,000 bail as he awaits his second-degree murder trial.

The police chief didn't do anything wrong. Charges were suggested to the prosecutors office, and they decided not to pursue the case.
This bull@!$%# of everyone being "incompetent" if they don't burn George Zimmerman, needs to stop.
We are a nation of laws, not of men. You aren't supposed to be able to get people charged with a crime, or fired from their jobs by yelling and screaming in the streets.
That's the kind of @!$%# they pull in places like Iran, North Korea, and any banana-republic-dictatorship you can name.
But, it isn't supposed to happen here in the United States of America.
We are a nation of law? Their was a recommendation Zimmerman be charged, and the police released him instead...

But you may have heard elsewhere, (of course you wouldn't hear it here), that the majority on the City Council took a stand here as they believe the issue with the Police Chief was all the result of the racebaiting outsiders that have come to their community, like Al Sharpton and Ben Jealous and the New Black Panthers. They won't have anymore of that nonsense, and already a rally is planned by supporters of the Police Chief and also supporters of George Zimmerman, to take back their community and show the nation it isn't the one sided story the outsiders and the leftist media have presented.

The uproar was the recomendation for charges to be filed. They weren't and Zimmermann walked away with his weapon. I have heard nobody trying to fire the cheif. He resigned and should be able to do so. His resignation might just idicate some "incompitance" in the investigatio. It might indicate he feels he didn't carry through or provide the leadership required. But, hell you two have at it and we'll keep our opinions to ourselves.

You aren't supposed to be able to manipulate the legal system like that, you aren't supposed to be able to get someone charged with a crime, by protesting in the streets! That's third world dictatorship bull@!$%#! A criminal case is supposed to stand on its own merits, according to the law!
You talk out of both ends of your mouth. On one end, you say that white supremacists, and "conservatives" (?) are "working" to insure that George gets off, and on the other end you say that black people should work to see he gets convicted.

SL Cabbie - Just a "heads up" - Today ends Mika not a Commie not from Russia's one month evaluation.
I'm still crunching the numbers but I am really impressed with Mika's dedication and willingness to meet increasing posting quotas. I think quality has suffered with the increased daily requirements - but as Comrade Stalin used to say " Quantity has a quality of its own". I am however somewhat concerned about Mika's increasing tendency to post to 2 to 8 day old "dead" posts. At present count this is about 12% of all posts - will this lead to any disciplinary action against Mika?
Other than that I feel other goals have been met - such as associating MSNBC and Obama with the words and phrases: black panthers, racebaiting, Kill White Jews, abortion, drugs, hate gays, scandal and prostitutes. Virtually every post includes some if not all of these associations. The requirement to associate MSNBC with "low ratings" and Fox as "#1" has also been effectively executed by Mika.
Mika is dedicated and very hard working - peak posting times are between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM - and 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM - but Mika has posted at all hours of the day. I think it should be obvious that for Mika - this is more than just a job - I think Mika has reached his point of Self Actualization. I hope the inevitable increased quota requirement will not discourage him from future posting at MSNBC. While it is true that more and more posters are starting to ignore him - Mika is proving to be resourceful by shifting his attention to new posting cliques.
On the more human side - I though the post where Mika said " im black" was an absolute hoot - I didn't get it at the time. Mika from "russia" , former drinker, black - get it - Mika was claiming to be a "Black Russian".
We must keep Mika - soon he will tell the tale of how he was born a hermaphrodite , went back in time and met himself - fell in love and became his own father - "is good tale i think - yes tovarisch a fair dinkum tale."

I won't pick on Ruskie for being a former dipso; I know how sick I was way back when (one fellow, now a judge, said I was the "youngest, sickest, he'd ever seen"). I really do have a spreadsheet on Mika's posts - posting date, time, number of lines in post, posting to dead posts, key words in post, "targets" (that's you), link to posts. Mika had a bad day 4/2 with only 2 posts - he has been playing catch up ever since. As of 4/12 he was at 9.66 posts per day. I have to spend some time with his newer posts - apparently there are some style changes and of course he "fessed up" that he is not Russian - I'm shocked. I mean really, how long could you stand typing with your little fingers taped to your ring fingers? i dont know if i could do it for an entire month. it must numb your mind.

This is so typical Florida. I guess I am prejudice against anything Florida because of the way we were treated when we visited Florida several times. Alabama police are trying to track down a mob that beat a man into critical condition -- leaving their battered victim with the words, "Now that's justice for Trayvon."
Cops told WKRG that Matthew Owens got in an argument with some kids playing basketball at a court in the city of Mobile on Saturday night. The kids left and a group of some 20 adults arrived at Owens' front doorstep, armed with chairs, brass knuckles, pipes and paint cans.
The group, all African American, allegedly beat him into a bloody pulp before someone uttered the words that connected the crime to the death of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed teen who was shot and killed in Florida by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman.
And I didn't hear Sharptons or Jacksons name mentioned one time. Just another uninformed rightie that wants everything his way. Knows nothing about everything. Quick with calling names. I guess he fits right in with keith and this blog.
Thats just a taste of the violence that will be going down when the case is 1) thrown out by the judge on the Stand Your Ground hearing, or barring that 2) Zimmerman is aquitted on a self defense affirmative defense and the failure of the prosecution to convience a jury that he is guilty as charged beyound a reasonable doubt.
Unfortuantely, the people who will be most victimized will be those in the black community that suffer from the violence caused by the hot heads in their midst.
If there's more violence we can just build more prisons with extra execution chambers.
