MSNBC
A newly released NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll shows Mitt Romney losing to President Obama by six points in a general head-to-head match-up, putting President Obama at 49 percent and Romney at 43 percent.
When you get down to gritty details, the numbers suggest Romney would get crushed on relating to regular people. For instance, when asked to pick the person "who is compassionate enough to understand average people," 52 percent said Obama and 23 percent said Romney. Obama's got the general likeability factor down.
The economy, however, seems to be Obama's weak spot. Out of the respondents, 40 percent believe Romney would do a better job of improving the economy compared to 34 percent for Obama.

NBC? Wow! The parent of the in the tank for Obama MSNBC polls difer by up to 11 points from Rasmussen and Gallup polls that have Romney up by 5 and 2 points, respectively, supported by the highly respected Qunipiace poll also this week Something smells of burnt 'fudge' in NBCs numbers, imo!
You really think that the wealthy don't influence the polls you mentioned? You are living on planet Zenon.
That same Gallup Poll put Congressional approval at 17% and we know that's high.
Matthews, Todd, and Fineman dissected the data yesterday, and what was clear was the criteria involved "likely voters" versus "registered voters." Historically at this point, using "registered voters" has been shown to be much more accurate.
The NBC/WSJ poll used registered voters. Note that the Gallup polls in Massachusetts have been all over the place in the Brown/Warren race...
It makes for nice drama for the "pass-the-popcorn" crowd, but offers little else.
Romney will not be able to budge the evangelicals in the Deep South, and you can look for states like Missouri to come into play.
Romney wants to brag about his father and that is very nice. Why doesn't he follow him by example and release his tax returns like he did.
Good question. We all know Mitt Romney is rich, so what is he hiding? I have never seen a man who lies so much, and so easily. Mitt Romney seem to have no problem with lying. And the problem with a liar, you can't believe anything they say.
How the hell is Mitt Romney leads concerning the economy? From what I heard when Romney was Governor of Massachusetts, they rank 47th in jobs creation. And do people want him to run the country like he ran Bain Capitol? Kick the poor and middle class to the curve, and make millions for himself and his other rich friends. And let's not forget the Paul Ryan's budget, who want to go after the poor and middle class, while giving more tax cuts to the rich. Who wants to get rid of Medicare and Medicaid. And when people talk of the President being weak with the economy, let's not forget the hand the Republicans played in that. They have filibuster, obstructed, sabotage anything with might would have made the economy stronger because they wanted the economy to be weak so the people would blame the President. They put their party ahead of the country and the people struggling. Why do you think they didn't pass the President's jobs bill? Which would have help put people back to work? Why do you think they didn't try to do a darn thing about creating jobs or helping the economy? When Boehner took over in 2010, he said he was going to focus on jobs, jobs, jobs. Did he? How many jobs bill did Boehner pass? I'm not buying the crap that Romney is stronger on the economy.
See Brothers, Koch, and Suckers, under the same last name...
The conservative "stink tanks" (a conservative think tank is an oxymoron) have been working overtime to ship their newest Talking Oinks® to the FAUX Noise crowd.
You can see that by how the trolls here triumphantly come here with their latest spin... And dang, everytime I make roadkill out of their material I have to take the ol' police interceptor through the car wash.
Rmoney likes to claim he knows how the economy works (and should therefore be the one to preside over the government). All he really knows is how to use other people's money to make himself filthy rich. Placing 47th out of 50 in job creation is proof that he's over his head when it comes to running a government for the benefit of "The People."
Google: " The New Hampshire Gazette Chickenhawk Hall of Shame" and then look for Mitt Romney. He's there... lol
President Obama is not attacking people who are wealthy. He's simply addressing the severe problem of GREED...and, the GREED IS REAL. However, not all wealthy people are greedy and it's easy to pick out the ones who are...did you get that ROMNEY?
The greedy are the people that want more and more handouts from a going bankrupt government. Get some pride and get to work! If you can't find a job because you have no real skills, get some skills.
Most of all, stio whining about "fairness", which is no more than a catch phrase for socialist "redistribution of income"...other people's income.
Just as soon as Boehner produces a jobs bill that is workable. Remember all the jobs, jobs and more jobs he said was the #1 goal. A good lie to get re-electd. And I'm sooo glad that you believe that only democrats recieve assistance. Shows how big your blinders are. My sister-in-law bitched about the unemployment extentions. She lost her job, recieved, in a severance package, 6 months salery, life time medical, recieved her unemployemt, with every extention available, her SS, she was 67, and medicare. They are republicans. She lied for her unemployment becuase she had NO intention of going back to work. Can you say GOP hypocrits?
Sweet! She took advantage or what the Dems produced as the route to go inorder to get some of her tax monies back, instead of seeing it all gone to the lifer gimmie more for free crowd.
And at the age of 67 I would think she had paid her dues, hunnh?
dems think if a person has 2 cars he should give one of the cars to someone who doesnt have a car. if he says no and keeps his 2 cars hes greedy
Re. the Economy - I'm sure the Obama Campaign will get around to emphasizing Massachusetts' miserable job creation ranking under Romney's governance; that should belie the idea that Romney will be better for the "Economy".
Re. Robert Bork - His role as advisor to Romney on judicial selections should highlight how a Romney presidency will fill the federal judiciary (including the Supreme Court) with young, conservative judges. Their decisions would leave a legacy long after he left office.
Attracting new industrial plants and commercial enterprises to a state doesn't have instantaneous succss, my friend. It was the carefully executed strategy of reducing the excessive regulatory barriers to business development and reducing the high tax and fee rates paid by corporations and privately owned businesses that bore its fruit in the later year of the 4 years Romney was Governor, and in the four years succeeding his term in office, just as the Dukakis administration benifited from the similiar course of business friendly and State and municipal development bonding under the Republican Governor King. I know a little something about this as I served on my Massachuttets communitys Industrial Development Board in the 1970-early 1980s period..
Study the Bain Capital business model, Grandpa Gonzo. Romney was a vulture capitalist, period, and his chop shop approaches involved acquiring distressed companies, securing profitable concessions from local governments (socialism?), reducing management to bare bones while liquidating the pension plans, and engaging in other legal forms of "corporate bloodletting."
From today's Dallas Observer...

His formula was simple: Bain would purchase a firm with little money down, then begin extracting huge management fees and paying Romney and his investors enormous dividends.
The result was that previously profitable companies were now burdened with debt. But much like the Enron boys, Romney's battery of MBAs fancied themselves the smartest guys in the room. It didn't matter if a company manufactured bicycles or contact lenses; they were certain they could run it better than anyone else.
Bain would slash costs, jettison workers, reposition product lines and merge its new companies with other firms. With luck, they'd be able to dump the firm in a few years for millions more than they'd paid for it.
I think Mitt was being honest when he said, "I like firing people."
Felted again, and this time hoist on your own petard. BTW, I'm not an expert on business or economic matters, but I didn't have to call my younger sister--a former CFO of a Fortune 500 company--in as a consultant on this one.
And now that I've had a nap and a cup of coffee in preparation for the Weekend Drunk Rodeo, I'll dot the "I's" and cross the "T's" on this stuff...
What Grandpa Fuzz calls a "carefully executed strategy of reducing the excessive regulatory barriers" amounted to giving the keys and combination to the vault to gangs of bank robbers...
The old "law of unintended consequences." Businessmen like Romney decried regulation because it constituted an attempt to prevent the most egregious of such shenanigans. Media oversight, ombudsman, unions, and <shudder> "socialistic" government regulatory agencies helped curb the excesses. Was it perfect? No; only foolish adolescents--and Ron Paul supporters--believe we live in a perfect world. The recent "insider trading ban" that was made law is a step back in the right direction.
Be sure to watch the Robert Reich video that "Rolf" linked below as well...
And now, since my background as a purveryor of "Mormon History" has led to accusations of bigotry, I'll sing the praises of an LDS individual named Marriner Eccles. He served as Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board during the FDR administration and single-handedly crafted the regulations that kept the Wall Street brokers in check (the folks who brought us the Great Depression). This allowed for the genuine prosperity and rise in the standard of living that followed World War II. Without actual manufacturing, anything else amounts to playing a lot of Monopoly® games with real money.
I apologize to Grandpa for calling him "Fuzz" after Lieutenant Sonny Fuzz from the old Mort Walker/Beetle Bailey comics. Lieutenant "Tool" is much more accurate, and as he's now retired, "Grandpa Tool" seems most appropriate.
That's rich! We are supposed to take our economics and finance lessons from a low life cab driver with an addiction and persecution disorders? Industrial Development bonding is socialism? Give me a break!
The fact that Romney is even within 10 points is a reflection of the fact that half of America votes in a way that is a threat to our democracy. Scary times.
Voting against a concentration of power in Washington DC is a threat to our democracy? Oh, contraire. Your monikor is omnious given your political philosophy.
I recommend this video: Robert Reich on Bain Capital:
Apparently it is not allowed to post video links (my recommendation was removed). However, for those interested I suggest you look for "robert reich on bain capital" on youtube. Would love to see Lawrence and Mr Reich discuss this in detail on the show.
Here you go Rolf (and a big honk of my horn and a thank you). For those wanting to watch it, type http: into a browser window and then copy and paste the rest of this URL.

Robert Reich is a Berkley left wing nut case on the same plane as University of Chicago's Sol Lewinsky. No more, no less!
I believe President Obama would do a better job on the economy with business than Mitt Romney when it comes to comparing both campaigns corporate tax reform plans.
To be business friendly, the Obama Administration might eliminate some corporate tax loopholes for the largest of corporations, which would then allow smaller corporations and mid-size businesses to compete more with larger corporations. Sometimes, larger coproations can crush smaller businesses by using their huge profits to replace any losses in economic downturns, where smaller corporations cannot. President Obama may keep some loopholes in place for smaller corporations and mid-size businesses to promote business growth through healthy competition from a balanced corporate playing field.
Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has said he will have an International Territorial Corporate Tax System, where money overseas brought back to America will not be taxed at all. That in the plan, might suggest that Romney will not eliminate the same loopholes at the top to balance profit levels between corporations as President Obama's plan will. Analysis of the plan suggests that Romney’s strategy is in getting the corporate top and financial markets more money from overseas.
What part of crony capitalism and picking and choosing winners and losers don't you understand is verbotten in our economic underpinings, Frank?
It's not about the government "balancing profit levels" or for redistributing income so that we can all be roughly equal in assets, fool! That is Nationalist Socialism at it worst.
Geeeze! The candidate Obama forgot his own lecture on "civility of political discourse" as with a scowling countenance complete with bitten underlip ala Bill "I feel your pain" Clinton, he drew an analogy of the Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats (those latter in his party whose political careers have not been eaten by the monsterous deficit engenderd out of control spending by Obama and his "progressive" friends in Congress), those who wish to cut the excessive spending and begin to pay down the huge debt of this country, comparing them to those who brought about the HALLOCAUST with Jewish peoples and their rich cultural achievements.
Lets send this gas bag back to Chicago before he can do us anymore harm!
As much as I look forward to watching Lawrence, I really wish he would stop talking as if the President is a shoo-in to win reelection. Any country that could vote to reelect George W. Bush is capable of anything, and the last thing the President's supporters need is to be lulled into a false sense of security by a nightly display of overconfidence. And, if anyone believes that Lawrence's opinion is sacrosanct, I have two words for you: Tim Pawlenty
Why is this guy running for potus?
He's rich and bored with his life, nothing to do with helping
all America, just his. Does America need reclaiming?
Which one is he talking about?
