Condoleezza Rice topped the list of most wanted to fill a Mitt Romney VP slot.
A newly released CNN/ORC International poll shows 26 percent of Republicans and conservative-leaning independents want the former secretary of state on the 2012 ticket, followed by Romney's formal rival Rick Santorum with 21 percent of the vote. Florida Senator Marco Rubio and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie tied for third place with 14 percent.
She's said over and over again that she's not interested. (The NFL someday, now we're taking).
Well versed in foreign policy, she seems like the obvious choice to appeal to a broad election audience. But a Rice as the vice presidential nominee could also "be very difficult for the base to swallow" after they got to know her more moderate positions, according to Alicia Menendez of NBCLatino.com.
"Her popularity and the possibility of choosing her as a VP pick illustrates the problem that Mitt Romney has. Because she's actually pro-choice and she's said some favorable things about civil unions for gay people as well," Menendez said while discussing potential picks on Wednesday edition of The Last Word. "Mitt Romney has to walk this tightrope of trying to appease the base and continue to convince them that he's on their side, while choosing someone who can appeal to a broad electorate. It's almost an impossible task."
It's an "interesting" prospect for host Lawrence O'Donnell. He said he just wants "to hear her answer questions about taxation and Medicare and stuff like that," but agreed, "the pro-choice thing seems like a killer in that party."

I assume Menendez is leaning to Rubio?
Condi has too much baggage; namely the made up Iraq war. I can see the ads her claims of a big black cloud
Applied to the remaining two rouge nations of the original Axis of Evil who don't seem to be embracing Obamas apologizing for America and lets talk approach?
Iraq, Iran and North Korea! One down, two to go!
Rubio is Cuban/American. Cubans are despised by the rest of the Latino population and for good reason. They are given preferrential treatment under the "Cuban Adjustment Act" and "The wet foot / dry foot policy." For that reason Rubio will not win over any of the hispanic votes (except for Cubans) if he is nominated for VP. As a matter of fact if you research the two policies above it will give Latino voters less of a reason to vote for Romney. Romney's campaign knows this. That is why Rubio is just a smoke screen.
Condi is "popular" now?
Condi was alwauys popular, and she was always "proud of her country" too!
Condi stinks.... of Bush. Past performance is the best indicator of future performance. In the very recent past she got her as s kicked around globally and inside the White House. We are a poorer, weaker, less respected country for Condi having served the forces of darkness so loyally and unquestioningly .
I doubt Al Quida agrees with your simpleton's assessment, "stupid".

you've got to be kidding me. She's an alien.
Concerning the Romenys.......does it make sense to you, Mr. O'Donnell, that a wealthy couple would be raising 5 children without the benefit of a cook or a housekeeper or a single nanny. Do you believe Ann would face each day to make meals, do laundry, dust, run the sweper, do the shopping and single handedly raise 5 boys. I know folks who did but they didn't have 10,000 in the bank let alone 100,000,000. Possible to find out if there's a cat to let out of the bag??
So An Romney can handle executive's duties, delegate tasks, and make a payroll too? Is that your point, Beverly?
Wonder if she can hoe a garden for a 1/2 hour for the cameras, then turn the job over to the landscapers and kitchen help in the White House while she went off speechifying on proper nuitrition and exercising.
Sounds like the Obama plan for dealing with steadily rising food costs caused by the steadily rising energy costs with a dwindling secure supply of resources to me. Dig up your backyards America, plant arrugula, and walk to the unemployment office and the market that takes foodstamps, and burn a candle at home and put on a sweater. Oh wait! That was the failed president Jimmy Carter's message, wasn't it?
I really like Condoleeza Rice and could probably be convinced to vote for her if she ran for President. I do not wish to see her play the part of Presidents Puppet again though. When she was Secretary of State, she would always speak to the party line. On script, all the time, every time. I would love to see her run for President in the future though. I know she is a very intelligent woman. It would be nice to hear her own ideas.
