Women were once again front and center in the political conversation du jour. Earlier today, our MSNBC colleague Andrea Mitchell discussed Team Romney's efforts to blame President Obama of starting the so-called "war on women" with MSNBC Contributor and the managing editor of PostPolitics, Chris Cillizza, and Michelle Goldberg of The Daily Beast.
Whether you think the argument made by Team Romney is fair or completely wrong is up to you. But one thing worth noting, this isn't the first time Mitt Romney has taken on a prominent Democrat on women's political issues.
BuzzFeed/C-SPAN/YouTube

Ann Romney may "respect" that women are making career choices, but the LDS Church she and her husband belong to has other things to say on the subject. I invite those interested to review the words of LDS leaders at their semi-annual General Conferences to review the published statements on this subject.
And historically, in the 1980's, the LDS church led the drive against the ratification of the Equal Rites Amendment (ERA). A number of feminists who stood up at the Conference sessions were ex-communicated for doing so, and large numbers of faithful female members were urged by church leaders to oppose ratificiation. Utah's failure to become the 37th state to ratify the amendment was a huge factor in it not being adopted.
This is pure Karl Rove tactics of "using one's greatest weakness" as a "wedge issue against the opposition." And its a stinkeroo...
Let's see Mitt and Ann disavow the LDS teachings on this subject the way the President and his colleagues have distanced themselves from Rosen, and they might have some crediblity.
Rites are somehing you pass through, like the rotes of Spring, or last rites.
To my knowledge, Mitt and Ann Romney weren't residents of Utah, they hail from Michigan and Massachusetts. First you castigate them elsewhere for espousing liberal positions, then in your ever so idiosyncratic obsession with the early history of Mormonism and the ancient history of Mormon men taking more than one wife 100 years ago. You've beat this subject to death on other Last Words threads you've joining with Loose Marbles Larry to make aspirations on a rock solid family man like Romney's moral compass; par for the course for the bigoted illogical charletans you and your rabid mentor are, taxi driver.
Why don't you do your fevered mind and our sore eyes a break, and make the above nonsense your Last Word on this subject of the Romney's religion! Or in other words, just SHUT THE F*** UP!
Boy, you would do well to just unplug your computer, seriously... Lt. Fuzz just said,
To my knowledge, Mitt and Ann Romney weren't residents of Utah...
Mitt and Ann attended Brigham Young University (that's in Utah, BTW, about 40 miles from where I live). Mitt graduated there in 1971 (after filling an LDS mission to France which permitted him to avoid the Vietnam-era draft).
Here's Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist--and former Mormon and BYU graduate--Steven Benson posting on the subject of their attending BYU...
//exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,472788
From the link Steve--whom I know well--provided, Ann Romney is quoted here...
"Of her student days with Mitt at BYU, Ann said:
“'They were not easy years. You have to understand, I was raised in a lovely neighborhood, as was Mitt, and at BYU, we moved into a $62-a-month basement apartment with a cement floor and lived there two years as students with no income.
“'It was tiny. And I didn’t have money to carpet the floor. But you can get remnants, samples, so I glued them together, all different colors. It looked awful, but it was carpeting.
“'We were happy, studying hard. Neither one of us had a job, because Mitt had enough of an investment from stock that we could sell off a little at a time.
“'The stock came from Mitt’s father. When he took over American Motors, the stock was worth nothing. But he invested Mitt’s birthday money year to year — it wasn’t much, a few thousand, but he put it into American Motors because he believed in himself. Five years later, stock that had been $6 a share was $96 and Mitt cashed it so we could live and pay for education.
“'Mitt and I walked to class together, shared housekeeping, had a lot of pasta and tuna fish and learned hard lessons.'
And moving on to Harvard...
“'Remember, we’d been paying $62 a month rent, but here, rents were $400, and for a dump. This is when we took the now-famous loan that Mitt talks about from his father and bought a $42,000 home in Belmont, and you know? The mortgage payment was less than rent. Mitt saw that the Boston market was behind Chicago, LA and New York. We stayed there seven years and sold it for $90,000, so we not only stayed for free, we made money. As I said, Mitt’s very bright.
You need to take you own advice, loser... And you should really study your Romney lore as well. Romney owned a house in Deer Valley here before the 2002 Olympics. He was in charge of those Olympics, "rescuing" them from a bribery scandal, and he used that accomplishment as part of his resumé to run for Massachusetts governor. BTW, he did a credible job on the Olympics, but a lot of the work was done by unpaid volunteers. I'm sure that's a "business model" he liked.
Checkmate (again)
You guys love to cut and paste. Please limit your comments to one paragraph. I might want to read it.
Cindy, knowing your history here, that's every bit as dishonest as anything Grandpa Fuzz has posted. You have no intention of following my material; you're strictly in this for the attention, and you know it.
Is that short and succinct enough for you?
I think it is presumptuous of the Romneys to say that the majority of women in the US are worrying about the economy they are really too way out of touch. in a country where 85% of the pop. shares only 7% of the total wealth of the country, and the Romneys belong to the top 1%, most women who work outside of the home is not by choice. It is a have to with 45% of the women in the US, to work. I once made a study involving 107 families and the conclusion is this. A family of three to four needs $36,000 per year take home pay in order to have a decent living. I say only a decent living because all of the ones we spoke with use credit cards for birth days, Christmas and other holidays, car repairs and maintenance, home repairs, prescriptions and miscellaneous expenses, like traveling for funerals and weddings and such.
I would like someone to investigate the relationship of the old Romney with Howard Hughes and the LDS leadership. How they took advantage of the ill hughes to take over his state.
Now this is beautiful Cabbie. Let me respond by saying that I do follow your post and highly value your comments.
I must say Lawrence, SHOCKING. Absolutely SHOCKing... The way Alex and Chris were looking at one another. What was all of that about anyway? Are they on the down low? In a relationship? The back and fourth was riveting enough but the absolute sultry eye making was dripping with intent on each of there faces.
The whipping of hair by Alex the the corner lip shrug to the slight grin on Chris, the repeating one anothers add in intros.. Tell m Lawrence. Whats the SCOOP!
Cheers
Ooops, I see Lt. Fuzz caught a typo I missed (as did my spell-checker). Mea culpa...
Unlike our resident narcissist, I'll acknowledge the error. Does anyone feel I need to apologize for any damages? It was a late night last night with a few obnoxious drunks, and I really do know the difference.
Note a few pages back how he rationalized his behavior when I noted that his fast-and loose replies that were rife with typos were diagnostic of a lack of respect for the audience here.
Narcissists do get particularly angry when they're held accountable for their fundamental boorishness and immaturity.
st cabbie, seems you have a problem with residency. let me educate you. ann and mitt went to college in utah which doesnt mean they were residents of utah. they were still legally of their respective states. anyone who went to college out of state knows this. let me tell you more. now, they could have became legal residents of utah but as they knew they werent going to live there after college they chose not become a legal resident of utah. as for mitt owning a home in deer valley, are you aware you can own a home in another state and not be a legal resident? both of them voted by absentee ballot in their homestate. so its obvious keith was right and you were wrong. they were never legal residents of utah. (CHECKMATE)
I see you have perhaps been taking quibbling lessons from Grandpa Fuzz. I haven't looked back a few clips where I schooled him on the Service Academy Honor Code after he utterly disrespected the uniform he claimed to have worn, but I laugh when I think about it.
Mitt apparently has issues with residency; for a time recently his mailing address was the basement apartment of one of his kids, and well, I don't think he was living there. He and Ann did live in Provo as I note; who knows where they voted. BTW, Brigham Young is a private university, and tuition is less for members of the LDS Church than non-members; residency is a non-issue.
And Mitt Romney is a Mormon, and the LDS Church is headquartered here in the capital city of Planet Utah. And as a Mormon bishop, Romney would've received guidance and instructions from the "elders" here, and that included the Equal Rights Opposition I detailed. You buddy was molesting another strawman he fashioned, a favorite pastime of his, apparently. And you neglected to mention the 2002 Winter Olympics that he chaired here; working is certainly an element of residency.
Now seriously, I'm flattered you borrowed some of my tactics, but you could use some schooling in originality. Why don't you go back to troll school and tell them to send some fresh ones. You two are in serious need of some testosterone shots.
sorry my friend but youre wrong on this. i know this as ive personally had experience with this. you can work in a state and not be a legal resident there. you are confusing residency with being a legal resident . from my experience this can be confusing. so dont take this personally. as for my getting into the middle of the spat between you and keith you both dont seem to mind so ill continue to do so. i have gone against keith when i thought he was wrong. i have no animosity towards you. i know i can be passionate at times in my opinons but i mean no anger at anyone in this blog. looking forward to further lively debate from all in this blog.but you are right about testesterone, i just turned 62 and could use some.
Look up the definition of "quibble." Lt. Fuzz dishonestly implied that the Romneys had never lived in Utah, and I made him look utterly foolish (well, he did it to himself, but I made sure the banana peel was in place).
Similarly Mitt Romney was here in Salt Lake, working as chairman of the 2002 Olympics. And as I noted, Romney's consultations with LDS leaders on his political positions are documented in the media
Your "apologetic" is suggesting they weren't here, and given your typical head-up-your-hiney logic, it is unsurprising.
See David Shuster's last bit of advice he gave to Andrew Breitbart.
are you sure you want to bring up david shuster?
If I don't you'll find some other issue to lie about.
I haven't watched Current since they tossed Olbermann, but I understand Shuster is still working for them.
Are you gonna bring up that douchebag James O'Keefe's silly lawsuit? That's about your speed, and I see they were getting all hot-and-bothered about it over on FAUX.
Shuster was dead-on telling Breitbart to get professional help, and you would do well to do the same. It's a serious handicap to walk around out of step with the whole world and not even be aware of it...
Just because the truth hurts, taxi driver, is no reason to call it a LIE! Shuster was over the top and headed for a fall from the time he was suspended instead of canned by MSNBC for his disgusting questioning if Chealsea Clinton appearing with her Mother was a case of Bill and Hillary "PIMPING her out!" during Hilliary's run for the nomination in 2008 against MSNBCs darling Obama. He was being mentored by Chris Mathews at the time, substituted for him when Mathews was wrestling with the ravages of early symptoms of diabetes as he drank his way through the Nomination battles in the Democrat Party that year. Too, remembering that infamous remark as he listened to a campaign speech by Obama the he, Mathews, "felt a thrill run up his leg"; the thrill, of course, as he was a bit loaded up with Guniess beer at the time was just himself peeing down his leg. But like most of the "commentators" over at MSNBC, Mathews and crowd don't know which way is up, which way is down. Example: they persist in praising Obama and the Dems for their economic, financial, energy, defense, and health care practices and policies, ignoring the fact that we are slipping down, down, down by the day.
Surely no one in Al Gores oraganization is missing Olberman, and no one will mourne the loss of Shuster over there either.
If the Dems had an ounce of sense, they would draft Gore for 2012, he just might save them some Seats in the Minority in the Senate and House after they take the shellaking at the polls, led by the stay at home and working Moms (and their husbands) and voting age daughters and sons going to the polls for Romney with new enthusiasm in November.
Boy, for all his flowery prose, Lt. Fuzz is having a hard time because a cabdriver is making him looking like the absolute raving headcase he is...
Here are a couple of suggestions: First, you ought to assign a "Designated Day" to each of your personalities. I think I counted seven; there are some similarities to Snow White's little friends and some of their last names. We've got Perry (Noia), Blissful (Ignornance), Manny (Maniac), Grumpy (Grandpa), Dopey (LaDupe), Commander (Crapthrower), and "PT" (only the initials; PTSD is the full designation).
That way you won't have them all fighting over who gets control of the computer...
I mean Dopey and the Commander were clearly engaged in a Sweathog battle à la Vinnie and Horshack trying to compete for air time with Mr. Woodman (thanks, Gabe; I miss your poker show).
Perry: "We should talk about Chris Mattews' drinking"
Commander: "No. Full speed ahead to save the Democrat Party. They should dump Obama for Al Gore."
Chris looked damn sober the night I talked with him here last fall. And why'd you just stick to with criticizing his diabetes? There's malaria as well...
cabbie i see we have a scandal involving prostitutes and the obama admin. you must be feeling bad so i wont rub it in. did you hear biden is furious at rosen? he said hes the one whos supposed to say stupid things embarrassing the president. lolol
pants on fire, flamer? He made up a worse one Cabbie. Speaking of scandel....
Ann Romney might just be the best spokesperson for the Democratic Party in the Republicans' nationwide War on Women:
Democratic Party campaign ad based on Ann Romney's response to Hilary Rosen's comment:
Ann Romney: "we need to respect choices that women make."
President Obama: " I agree."
Michelle Obama: "I agree."
College-age female holding school books: "I agree."
Woman walking into Planned Parenthood clinic: "I agree."
Rachel Maddow: "I agree."
Woman in her doctor's office: "I agree."
Married woman holding baby, standing by husband, with other children: "I agree."
A lesbian married couple, arms linked, saying in unison: "I agree."
A white-haired grandmotherly woman: "I agree."
A female doctor standing beside a female nurse, saying in unison: "I agree."
A female U.S. Marine in uniform: "I agree."
Hilary Clinton: "I agree."
A female labor union worker wearing hardhat: "I agree."
A female teacher: "I agree."
A female rock star or movie star: "I agree."
A woman playing golf at a country club: "I agree."
Ann Romney saying again: "we do need to respect choices that women make."
President Obama again: "I absolutely agree, we do need to respect choices that women make."
(any number of ads based on this theme could be produced, with any number of people saying "I agree" to Ann Romney saying "we need to respect choices that women make." This could even be made into a You Tube video. It'd probably go viral)
And each Democratic Party campaign ad could end with:
"Vote for Democratic Party candidate ………., so that we can all be certain that the choices made by all American women will be respected and not legislated away by Republicans."
Here's my first political comment, straight from the street. Anyone who tries to use motherhood in a political frame is only trying to appease the upper middle class who actually have a choice whether to be a stay at home mom or a career mom. Millions of mothers in this country don't have the choice whether they stay at home or go to work. Millions do both! Don't make a political statement about choice when others aren't so fortunate! Don't use the word "choice" in this day and age.
SoSo:
Doesn't Michele Obama fit your description of a stay at home mom since Barry got elected to be POTUS? Are their histories as students at Princton and Columbia (where exactly are those records?) any harder than what Ann and Mitt lived when at BYU as students, and not residents of the State of Utah. If they kept their home state residency as their legal residency, and voting residency, how could they have been held responsible for the subsequent "failure by Utah to become the 37th state to ratify the ERA to the Constitution of the US when they were in Massachusetts?
Come on bigot blowhard, surely even you can do better than that?
Captain Fuzz,
I just want some reporter to ask Mitt Romney a question about his church and the Equal Rights Amendment...
BTW, he was in Utah extensively when running for Massachusetts governor, and he went to great pains to explain to LDS leaders that the political positions he was adopting, i.e. "pro-choice" and "pro same-sex marriage" were being advocated out of political expediency. I can document that one with a number of news sources.
Nice Andrew Breitbart impersonation, BTW. You honor his memory with his histrionics, and I'm sure his passing was a great lost to you.
Hey, SL, trying to be reasonable with my good friend (cough, cough) Keith is useless. He's not worth the time. I know, I tried. Be well.
The absolute stupidist thing I've ever seen in all my many years of following political campaigns was the attack by Hillary Rosen on motherhood! In America? You telling me your going to attack motherhood. Maybe they don't think they've cemented the abortionists vote for the next election yet?
Now today the white house is trying to say they have no relationship with Hillary Rosen although she shows on the White House logs have been in meetings there 45 times, 5 of them alone with Obama in the last three years. She us sudenly Hillary Who? What a collossal blunder by a foolish rabid Obama supportor. Cost him dealy obviously. Wait until next weeks polls are out on the on the Gender Gap Issue.
Hilliary, better take an asprin and call a shrink in the morning!
Yeah, that's a problem with Obama supporters; they don't say stupid things very often so it does tend to stand out...
Unlike the FAUX Noise crowd where we expect this stuff and it provides a lot of "pathos type" entertainment...
Of course Hillary wasn't working for the Obama campaign (she was only a pundit for CNN), and well, I just dug through my kids' old toy box and found this Etch-a-Sketch that I think will prove useful...
And yes, Jenny, I knew all along what you were saying is true; I'm an old school teacher, however, and sometimes examples are the best ways to teach important lessons.
KL has demonstrably proven that nobody is ever going to teach him anything, however. No sireee.....
45 visits to the White House for Hillary Rosen, five of them one on one with Obama, and you don't think she was speaking as an Obama surrogate? Not even Wolf Blitzer of Anderson Cooper had that kind of access at CNN in the past 3 years.
You, sir, throw disclaimers and insults out of your arse in every post you make as you stalk me on this blog. Grow up, get clean and sober, and try to make a difference with your life instead of just one big stink!
She has no ties with President Obama. She spoke on her own. And for President Obama's college records. They are confindential, and NONE of your business.
When the 'in the tank media lean left media' giant NBC (MSNBC's parent) labels Rosen as did Dick Gregory today as "a Democratic Party strategist close to the White House", that should be enough for even you, loose wingnut larry, to see the naive foolishness of your statement above.
The only thing wrong about Ann is that she's married to that buffoon. Well, and the five robots she raised.
If the GOP leadership want to really help the working men and women and their children why dont they ask those who give them millions to campaign to pay better to husbands so the women can stay home to care for their children. Why is it that they always fight against policies that help the working poor and the middle class. They are total hypocrites. They do not really want to help the children of the bottom, 85%. other wise they would not be against the policies that distribute the wealth by higher salaries to the working poor and lower prices of things we all need to live.
Instead they want to privatize everything making sure the top 15% with the CEOs have the revenue that will increase their bottom line and their quarterly statement.
And the National Socialist in office now want to run the privately owned corporations, and dictate which corporations get the grease, and which get the hard cold stick!
The White House Men can afford to keep their families in good middleclass style because they get more pay for equal work, 20% more on average than women staffers in the WH! Go figure!
When the Dems get through stroking themselves in this silly War they declared, pleasuring themselves, all they have to show for it is the sticky mess now on their hands!
The "silly war they declared"? Now wait a minute... Bush gave us Afghanistan and Iraq and Iran hasn't happened yet despite McCain's salacious dreams...
Oh wait, you mean the war on women!
Rush Limbaugh didn't call that young coed a slut? Is that what you're suggesting? And it was President Obama who suggested that Planned Parenthood be de-funded?
It wasn't Romney who called for that, no siree... Ooops, wait a minute...
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLM_nDczR2g
Limbaugh is a loudmouthed radio shock jock, What office did he ever run for as a Rebublican? Mahar contributed $1 mil to Obama's reelection, amd how many off color remarks has that shockcomic made about conservative or republican women in his non illustrous career? As to that poor impoverished 28 yr od Georgetown lawstudent as soon as she was done "testifying" to Democrats in Congress in a do nothing show hearing as to why she should get free contraceptives (free for her, the expense for which would be bourne by others), she was off to California on Spring break with her boyfriend, the son of a wealthy Democrat Party financier.
Rememger the axis of evil? One down under Bush, two to go Those other two under Obama getting increasingly closer to joining the nucleur club while Mr. Let's Talk Nice Apologist to the world for all of our past foreign policies in times he has trouble understanding from his ivy tower perch accomplishes nothing.
Planned Parenhood can get along fine on their endowments and non profit status with private donations (and how much do you donate to them, 1/10th of your meager tips for example?). They don't need federal tax payers' or Chinese borrowed monies to augment their free womens' (a separate, exclusive class) provision of health services so that they can shift their other funds into their growing abortion mill.
Is that clearer to you now,SFB?
So you're suggesting the Humbaugh® isn't a Republican? You haven't been paying attention to the media and how Chris Matthews has pointed out he's the titular head of the Party and no leader has had the guts to stand up to him.
Mitt Romney falls into that category; his effete reply to a question about Sandra Fluke was "Those weren't words I would've used." If he can't stand up to a bully like that, how do you expect him to go up against Ahmadinejad or the other bad guys on the world stage?
And I note you seem to be really good at accusing me of tossing insults but are utterly blind to your own excesses.
Must suck that your own light is so dim you have to put out other folks.
Now how are you coming along practicing those anger management skills you claim you were particularly expert at?
Anger?I don't get angry, I just get even!
Hey taxi driver, the talking heads on MSNBC are trying to ressurect Hillary Rosen's career, especially the women surrogates for the Obama Administration. Strange that they are also taking Obama to task for "having thrown her under the bus", thought.
Fluke was a fluke, the only folks trying to keep her in the fading limelight are the MSNBC female talants. Its a sorry game, that ended with the Supreme Court hearing the arguments on Obama Care. Wake up, Cabbie, you aren't paying attention. And if you want to champion Rush as the titular head of the Republican Party (strange thought when they have Past Presidents, former Presidential candidates and a soon to be new Presidential candidate. What do you have, a failed President and corrupt hack Harry Reid and Plastic and Botex frozen faced little Nancy Pellosi from la la land? Ha!
They are "trying to resurrect Hillary Rosen's career"? Seriously? The folks at MSNBC? She works for CNN, goofus... And she's not part of the Obama campaign.
But you've talked to them and they've admitted it, I guess?
Right. I warned you about listening to those voices in your head.
That did sound honest with that "get even" remark. Adolescents operate that way. That explains your over-identification with Zimmerman, too, because that's likely what happened with him.
A bit late for you to grow up, alas...
I've been watching them do it all day on MSNBC while handicapping horseraces at Keeneland and Oaklawn and blogging on same at DRF.com. What have you done with your day other than obsess on the Mormons taling over the country in some grand Gibson taxi driver childish conspiracy theory.
Hillary Rosen and Rachel Maddow..put them together on a show..better watch out , they might start making eyes at each other. They would probably out bore each other.
Best line i heard all day if you're looking for a cat fight: Sarah Palin takes on Hillary Rosen; "Pour kerosene on that fire baby!" LOL!
Have you considered seeing a shrink about your issues with women? And seriously, Rachel Maddow has a partner...
And I see from Wiki, their first date was at an NRA firing range function.
Hanging around the track eh? Probably why you can't smell horse@!$%# when it's all around you.
Who are you addressing your comment above to? I never said anything about Maddowl Don't try to corrupt my postings with your stalking nonsense of attemting to discredit everything I post. If you continue in this vein, I will report you AND ASK YUU TO BE BARRED FROM THIS BLOG! Am I clear? I won't say this again!
Well, let me put it to you this way. You know from your NRA background that there are such things as "double guns." Shotguns are the most obvious example, and they come in over/unders and side-by-sides...
My post was kind of like firing both barrels; one was aimed at adam and the other at you Grandpa (U.S. Military ret. Sect. 8). And it looks like I scored a double, rhetorically speaking of course...
Hit birds flutter...And the only individual headed for the cyber brig is you, and you know it, and you'll wear it proudly as phony battle decoration when you do...
My apolgies if you were actually doing an Archie Bunker impersonation, but I don't think you every realized his show was satire...
Love,
Meathead
Weren't the 'Stepford Wives' stay-at-home moms?
I've heard many Christians, Moslems, and Jews say "Wives should be subservient to their Husbands", and "Men are the Head of the Family"; In many cultures, girls/women must be obedient to their fathers until marriage, after which they must be obedient to their husbands. Remember the old marriage vows "....to Love, Honor, and OBEY...". I'm curious if the Romneys follow those beliefs?
Within their family, they can believe and practice anything they want (just like the Santorums), but I'd prefer that they don't impose those beliefs on the rest of us!
So whose imposing, Crazy! The national mandates are all in the Obama Care Act (not at all affordible, either)!
Nobody here has any doubt that they'll ever impose any mandates on you, Grandpa Fuzz...
You warned us all about how you're always packin' heat...
The Stepford Wifes was an amusing piece of sterotypical fiction of the same period as John Updike's "Run Rabbit Run". Adapted to film, it served nicely to give a lovely parody to the fitting role to Hanoi Jane, who was everymuch the liberal think automoton of the 70s that the 50s suburban women were so lovingly portrayed as.
How do you take your coffee, dark and somewhat bitter or laced with crememora and sweet sugar substitute?
Didn't Grandpa Fuzz just chide me for "ancient history" down below, and now he's belittling Jane Fonda?
Do you need directions to the HypocritesRUs meeting, perhaps?
She's still fair game...just who is she going to be playing next out in Hollywood? Are you even trying to pay attention?
Well, I guess I stumped the taxi driver with his nose into the dark hole of ancient history on the polygamists of 100 years ago with the above question as he hasn't gotten back in over 24 hours.
JANE FONDA IN TALKS TO PLAY NANCY REGAN! My god, my god, have you no mercy? Hollywood bankrolls these left loose wing nuts in politics and social causes, and they aren't satisfied with doing that. They have to disparage the memory of the greatest President in the past 52 years since Eisenhower by making a mockery of his widow for continued hoped for profits. Wonder how many surburban husbands and wifes (working or stay at home) will stand in line for tickets to see a Hanoi Jane Fail at that portrayal? WTF are they thinking?
Lawerence, why is it that when you have MSNBC colleagues (Alex Wagner and Chris Hayes) talking about the war on woman you have all the talking points at your finger tips, but when on other selective shows on your network the host allows Republicans to get away with still calling it a fiction? A little coordination by the MSNBC team would go a long way to competing with the FoxNews juggernaut.
I had a post (deleted by the MSNBC thought police) above here about the continued stupidity of the DNC Chairwoman appearing on the Andrea Mitchell show along with some other flake commentator, and they were all trying desperately to resurect Hillary Rosen, their mutual friend. The same one the White House quickly threw under the bus. These people don't have the sense to know they aren't helping themselves and their cause (reelection of Obama by rallying the base) by keeping this issue in the forefront of the news. It was the misaimed shot by the Democrat/Obama surrogate Rosen that ended the War on Women in short order as the Dems side of the battle went down in flames, like the bad gaseous Hiddenberg!
odonnell hayes wagner schultz maddow tamron hall are 6 reasons msnbc will never approach the ratings of #1fox news. chuck todd and dylan ratigan are reasonable and msnbc is lucky to have them.
You can add Harris-Perry to that list too, Mika. Just last week as she was taking a hatchet to the Supreme Court for an attack on womens "privacy" if they threatened free Plan B (caustic abordtion causing medication) by dismantling the Obama Care monstrosity, she labele the "9 black robed LIFERS", with an appropriate scowl that one might expect of someone contemplating the New Black Panthers serving out their prison terms of life without parole if they succeed with their bounty on finding an out on bail Geroge Zimmerman.
Of course, today she was off to the rescue of the Hillarious Hillary Rosen backlash against her President and his surrogates., of which that chagrined now damsel in distress be one!
Well, it looks like the FoxBots have either retired or passed out, so here's a bit of authentic history on what went down on Planet Utah during the battle ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. As I said, two close friends were excommunicated from the church for actively opposing the ERA.
//www.humanistsofutah.org/2005/MormonChurchAndERA_Aug-05.html
In Utah, the attack against ERA began when the amendment was first considered by the Utah legislature in 1973. The same fears of anti-ERA opponents prompted Mormon Church leaders to join their financial resources, promotional skills and broad network of members to the anti-ERA movement. In 1976, church leaders described ERA as "a moral issue with many disturbing ramifications for women and for the family as individual members as a whole." President Spencer Kimball declared it "would strike at the family, humankind's basic institution."
In typical grassroots fashion, ward bishops solicited donations to support the anti-ERA effort, speeches against the amendment were deemed appropriate at all church meetings, and church buildings were used as anti-ERA literature distribution centers. Church-sponsored anti-ERA organizations operated in Florida, Nevada, North and South Carolina, Missouri, Illinois and Arizona.
As the official voice of the church, the Ensign published articles clarifying the church's position, speeches about ratification given by church leaders in different locations, and official policy statements that left no room for misinterpretation. Bishops, stake presidents, teachers and women read them in classes, and official press packets were distributed widely to local newspapers, television personalities and other individuals in the media. In March 1980, the Church went all out with the publication of The Church and the Proposed Equal Rights Amendment: A Moral Issue.
In the midst of this anti-ERA campaign, active Mormon Sonia Johnson testified in 1978 in support of ERA before the Senate Subcommittee on Constitutional Rights, upsetting Senator Orrin Hatch. Her feisty testimony caught media attention, and she became a lightening rod for Mormon and other religious supporters of equality. Subsequently though, she was excommunicated from the Mormon Church in December 1979.
Sonia Johnson's book is titled "From Housewife to Heretic."
How you do so love your ancient histories.
I spent a great deal of time as a union organizer and executive board member and collective bargaining representative for N.A.G.E under Carter's, Regan's, and Bush Senior's presidencies and later the A.F.G.E. under Clinton's presidency in my government service, but I have no need to dwell on the history of trials and tribulations of the labor movement. (Oh those poor Wobblies, wring your hands, beat your brow!) Can't you just put your obsessive discontent with the history of the Church of the Latter Day Saints aside for one day, and discuss current events rationaly? (Stupid rhetorical question obviously for the answer obviously is no, that's beyond your limitations). I realize this subject is all you've ever gotten anything near to a positive response from fellow bigots and conspiracy theories loose screws, but its stench permeates every thread on this blog now. Stop farting your poor remainder of an addiction addled brain out in gentile company. There are ladies and gentlemen present here, taxi driver.
Ancient histories? You were the one who was telling us about being a codebreaker in the Cold War. And I elected not to mention I used to hang with the same crowd as Jacoby and Sheinwold (Mott Smith was before my time). I think I ultimately was a little better player than Sheinwold, but stuff like that is pretty subjective. I know Alfred was a better with codes than you were, however.
Lessee, first you were a counselor type after which you took over from Ike in the Cold War so that kid, Kennedy, wouldn't have to fly alone. And you somehow managed some schooling although you were in economics first (heavy emphasis on the "con" I'm sure), and after that you tried to convince us you knew something about law except that Second Degree murder charge against Zimmerman kind of made you look stupid because you insisted it couldn't happen. And now you're a big time Union guy? Did I tell you the world's leading authority on Joe Hill used to be a regular fare of mine? Sweet lady... Better hurry up and Google up who Hill was and why we in Utah have such long memories. BTW, I don't blame the LDS Church for what went down with Hillstrom.
And I note a few pages back where you said that after an individual's facts had been refuted, they were left only with insults. Easy to see why you're an expert on that tactic.
The only stench left here is your own pseudo-elitism.
Hey, so I can chew gum and walk at the same time? I had a liberal arts education of the old school varity and put everything to work. I also served one of my local communities as a very active member of our Planning Board, and later a member of our Board of Appeals, and my efforts in historical preservation led to a feature article in 1977 in the national publication Antigue World.
And I did all that while managing to be a husband and father to two children. What do you have taxi driver?
lol cabbie you break me up. what is you obsession with mormons? will your next obession be about puppies?
What do I have? Over thirty years of being an honest man, that's what...
And any idiot with the right equipment can father a child... It's being a parent that's the hard part...
I notice you didn't give any credit to the woman who bore them, BTW...
Back in 2008 when Michelle Obama was campaigning for her husband she was slammed for making a statement and the press and the Republicans made the biggest stink which stayed in the news for weeks. Now, today she is being slammed for the help with veterans. Now here is Mitt Romney's wife campaigning for her husband and her husband said she said something that is suppose to help his campaign. When you put yourself in the public making statements then you open yourself up for people making comments about you. Michelle Obama dealt with it in 2008 and she deals with it on a daily basis now she is First lady. I cannot count the number of times I saw the segment on one channel or another with Michelle Obama talking about veterans when she appeared on the Stephen Colbert show. Then you read the piece on the web talking about the Colbert show and guess what you get the normal haters talking about Mrs. Obama saying crap like "how come I have not found a job" and I am a veteran. Not a single positive remark about her work with veterans. So I do not feel sorry for Mrs. Romney. She open herself up for people making comments about her. She maybe an excellent mother but I feel so is Michelle Obama. One last comment with five boys you can ALMOST believe she may have had a maid.
Michele is a smart, beautiful woman and has graciously ended her own career to stand by her man in the White House. Nobody puts her in the same camp as the hapless Hillary Rosen, who's buddies Andrea Mitchell and that Florida flake heading the DNC are working so hard to get out from under the bus she got thrown under.
That woman was nasty, insulting, and incredibly stupid in her comments, it derailed the Dems War on Republicans and attempt to split the gender gap and the Obama surrogates don't have the sense to let the issue die now, rather than try to get any further milage out of it.
As to Hillary Rosen: "why take a good look at (her) face, (that) smile looks out of place", she's living now in disgrace, with "just the tracks of her tears"!
I think Maddow enjoys looking at Rosen's face.
as rosen says raising kids isnt work why is she for abortion?

i dont like that guy maddow
st. cabbie: What does all this old news have to do with this years election? The ERA issue of the the 1970's has nothing to do with this election. In fact your whole story not factual, I know of no one getting excommunicated for being in favor of the ERA during any conference. A lot of mormon work and none of them have been excommunicated.
You may not know of any who were exed, but I have two close friends who were, and like me, they're barely out of their fifties. Too, here's a link to Sonia Johnson's story, whom I mentioned.
//www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20075792,00.html
Johnson's troubles began soon after she co-founded Mormons for ERA to oppose the church's covert campaign against the amendment. Her ouster last December nullified her marriage in the eyes of the church, and then Richard, 45, who is also a Mormon, announced he wanted a civil divorce. "I didn't even know what hit me," admits Sonia, who still describes her husband as "a strong feminist and my strongest ally. The ERA," she sighs, "is the only thing that Rick and I still agree on. If that were the problem, we'd still be in good shape."
Unfortunately, you've been the victim of LDS "Etch-a-Sketch" history. Saying something is "old history" is a favorite "thought-stopping talking point" of theirs, one whose goal is to stifle criticism and discussion.
But I welcome fact checking nevertheless even though you engaged in yet another strawman burning with that "a lot of mormon [sic] work and none of them have been excommunicated."
A perusal of LDS General Conference records for the past thirty years will show there's a strong cultural and ecclesiastical bias in favor of women remaining at home (and bearing children early); working outside the home is not against doctrine, but it is strongly discouraged.
See the obsession 300m. Even his initial fledgling interest from others eager to get on the bigotry train have come to realize he is sooooo over the top here!
Grandpa Fuzz, I would've thought an old wise geezer like you would've seen that movie--the one with Judy Garland--where the booming voice says, "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!"
(sound of little doggie feet and a bit of barking before Toto pulls back the curtain to reveal the entire fraud)
Surely an educated sort like yourself would've known better than to engage in such a lame tactic. Didn't they teach you that one in those diploma mills and correspondence courses?
I mean you do have something factual to counter this insidious information from the "lamestream media"? What? You don't?
There's a reason for that... BTW, I'm all in favor of people reading "LDS Defenses" of their "revisionist" history. My only caveat is bring plenty of Pepto...
MSNBC doesn't swim in the mainstream, it is circling the toilet however with its agenda of racism and bigotry. How long before the sponsors start getting wise and dropping out of the network, especially with its bottom dwelling ratings!
What did Mrs. Romney really do in raising her children and "working" as a homemaker??? I have known many wealthy families. I also was raised and know many middle class and working class families. Most of the wealthy families have staff that cook and clean and, in some cases, work with/attend to the children as governesses and tutors. HOWEVER, Cooking, cleaning, budgeting, helping with homework, attending PTA meetings and helping our children with any numbers of normal activities on a day-to-day basis is what most middle class and working class "stay-at-home" moms do on a daily basis. It is also what many mothers who also work outside of the home do on a daily basis. We just assume that Mrs. Romney was just a regular working stay-home Mom who cooked, cleaned, took care of the family budget, etc, etc....Really? Just wondering.
Here we go... They even ran the top one here in the local paper on Planet Utah...
I hope nobody loses their job for putting it in...
//selfdeprecate.com/political-cartoons/ann-romney-war-on-women/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ann-romney-war-on-women
No sympathy from me regarding Ms. Romney. Her husband is promising to rid poor people of health care, to block poor women access to contraception. He want to rob the poor to pay for rich tax cuts. Need I go on? If I should choose a bedtime story for them it would be the one about Louis XVI and the gift from the people of France. Every Republican't should be made to read how France became a republic.
Well ain't this a sh$t. Foster Friess talking about the teleprompter being bulletproof. You don't hear Mitt Romney saying that was a bad statement but you heard the President saying not to say stuff about Romney's wife. That is why I feel the President should not have said anything. I feel Mitt Romney approved of what Foster Friess said. Same thing when he talked about the aspirin between legs and Mitt Romney didn't that was a bad statement either. The man might be rich but because he is rich he feels he can say anything he wants and then say OOPS I did not mean that. Yes he did mean it and the Secret Service, FBI and any other agency need to watch that clown.
There are still many Mormons in Utah who have more than one wife. Many churchus disrespect women by saying that the men are to be the head of the household.
why would any man want more than 1 mother in law?
They don't want more than one mother in law. In the case of multiple wives, the mother-in-laws are not kept around.
The US Census still lists the man of the house as the head of household!
Kennedy and Clinton had way more than one woman although it is true they only had one wife each.
They just had a weak spot for the fairer sex that's all.
More like a fair spot for the weak sex, i would say, especially when it came to Kennedy's taking the virginity forcefully of an 18 year old intern in the White House in her first week on the summer position. And we know the story of Clinton having his aides bring Paula Jones in for the sexual harassment he subjected her too in the Governor's office in Arkansas, as well as his illicit liaisons with the incredibly naive Monica Lewinski, and the rumors of raping a jornalist who was a Canadian citizen.
There's the heros of the Democrats who want to disparage Romney's moral compass for his being a Mormon when the Mormon's were so many, many years ago polygamists, as if that has any relationship on Mitt and Anne Romneys marriage!
And I get accused of "ancient history."
Anybody besides me noticed the remarkable similarity between Grandpa Fuzz's tactics and those of Newt Gingrich? There's a reason for this...
Same histrionics and theatrics, same dishonesty, same shell games, same poorly suppressed rage...
That's narcissism for you, folks. I'll leave it to the genuine professionals to determine whether it's "clinical or sub-clinical," but this has been a useful few days of lessons on the subject. I see, however, there's enough grandiosity he's now going to anoint himself an "expert" on Mormonism now. He'll doubtless do worse with that one than he did impersonating a lawyer. He'd do better arguing the geography of the Salt Lake Valley with me; at least he could use GPS or Google maps...
Of course our used-to-be military has a great big "N" on his forehead he can't see, and having only a broken mirror (probably one from an old carnival "fun house"), he insists those of us who are trying to tell him the truth are bald-faced liars.
Last bit of real life stuff I'm going to give you gonzo. While you were giving me grief about my "obsession" (more buzz word nonsense, BTW), I was e-mailing an old friend inquiring about some cancer that was diagnosed last fall. Got a nice "all clear, awaiting grandchild's birth" reply.
That was in addition to doing a bit of wildlife activism stuff (no Mormon tie-in there, and Obama probably blew it naming Salazar as Interior Sec'y, IMHO) before I went to work in the Friday the 13th Drunk Rodeo. Helped a few little old ladies with their groceries... They love it when I flirt with them...
I try to put some of the extra tip money in my daughter's college fund...
Still a simple issue of the 99% being scammed by the 1%. Yes, we are just like you....LOL Right!?
The "Buffet Rule" would by taxing millionaires and billionaires, be taking the capital from their hands so that the Nationalist Socialist Party could have some more to spend in "investments" on things like the increase of 150,000 new patronage federal employees in the last three years. The Buffet Rule Tax change would raise, if the lawyers don't do their work to shelter the incomes (which we know they will), only 50 billion over 10 years. The federal government on its present path is getting ready to spend $45,000,000,000,000 (45 trillion) in that same period. Do the math!
Why not just cut out the excess spending and let the capatalists do what they do, invest in startup companies, build new commercial real estate properties, buy the bonds of federal, and state and municipalities that go to building infrasture imporvements, and purchase the stock and bond offerings of major and minor corporations so that they might expand their operations, and hire productive workers in the private market based economy?
Or put another way, the amount of tax revenues maximum that could be raised under the "Buffet Rule" is so inconseuential that it would take gaining that amount for 250 years straight (longer than the US of A had been in existance) to put a dent in the deficit run up by Obama and the free spending, no budget Dems in the Congress in just the last year alone! How do you like those apples?
Oh...I forget, Obama feels thing are best when the "resources" (read other peoples money) are redistributed. Its about fairness, fairness, fairn......What a joke!
Its about Class Warfare, to go with the War on Women, and the War on Religion, and the Race War...all from the President who was going to bring us together, be man to transform America, Hope! Change! Yes We Can!
Only to find he is playing the old Dems playbook of splitting the body politic, playing interest group politics, and ruing our AAA credit rating. Why, for all his spending and government regulations and government medling and tinkering with the economy do we have 5,000,000 less people working now than in the summer of 2008 before he was elected? Why after over 3 years are we now seeing the "slow but steady" job growth once again fall back to levels that can't even make up the 150,000 jobs lost as people normally move out of the labor force each month, and the initial jobless claims for last couple of weeks go back to a steadily rising pattern? We've tried him for three years now, and all we got is (three years) "older and deeper in debt" to borrow from Tennesse Ernie Ford!
Baloney, that's not how the world works. There is no real capitalism here, it's monopolies. U start up through political connections then lock everyone else out of business and fix prices. Afterwards, loopholes are used not to pay a fair share of taxes.
The start up with political connections are the "green" energies that Obama and the Dems insist on shoveling tax payers and borrowed Chinese dollars into. Now, in the face of his failed policies to pick winners and losers (as in disallow the normal business deductions of oil and gas companies that other energy start up "green"companies and every other industrial-utility corportation are afforded. As if that is going to bring down the cost of home heating oils and gasoline and diesel and aviation fuels and natural and propane gas that our citizens and transportation and utility industries and agridultural industries rely on. Too, there is the huge PPI (Producers Price Index) cost increase when the oil distalites used in so many manufactured and chemical based products of modern life, not to mention fertilizers. Ready for those food prices to go sky high as the higher costs of producting oil and its associated products are passed on by the oil companies to the farmers to the food distribution industry to the buyers who will be shaking their collective heads if they vote these fools back into office in November?
Maybe the Oil and Gas Corporations will just throw up their hands and move their headquarters to Canada and Mexico who would love to have them, and see what that gets you as you seek to get your power needs from incredibly inefficient and expensive windmills and solar, with the hope of scraping enough algea of the rock in the Rocky Mountains someday to make up for what we lost?
You're an ignorant fool if you believe that Nationalist Socialist crap they feed you...you don't have an ounce of common sense or Patriotic Pride, do you gorKal? BTW, with Spring well upon us, take a moment to go outside and examine everything from the newly green in nature, the smallest grasses to the tallest trees, the flowering and vegetable producting plants from smallest city strip of ground amongst the concrete and asphalt covering surfaces, to the largest stretch of farmland and the biggest forested tracks we have in this country. Look at the lilly pads and gasses in and about the smallest pond and the largest lakes and our oceans for the algea that grows. All of this abundant vegative life relies on CARBON to live, and grow, and survive! But the charletans who want to turn our way of life on its head in the name of "transforming America" and making a conribution to the great hoax of the "War on Global Warming" wish to do away with Carbon anywhere they can. WTF!
One more analogy on the stupidity of the Obama election year hype on the "Buffet Rule". If passed in its present form as described by the Obama Administration, the amount of money raised by it in its first year would only the spending done in eleven (11) hours in one year of the federal governments total operations. This, rather than working with congress to pass a responsible budged finding the real areas of runaway overspending that have so inflated the outflow of taxed and borrowed dollars under this President in the past 3 years, and the huge and dangerously growing deficits that hamstring our economy and weaken our formerly highly held credit rating in the world.
To boot, in the present tax year (2011) Obama's just released tax return shows that the joint income of Barack and Michelle was only taxed at 20% instead of the 30% he wants to soak "the rich" for, as they took every possible deduction and tax shelter their tax lawyers could find! So, again, go figure!
keith i dont think monica was niave. she was smart enough to keep the dress and not wash it.
Mika:
Did you not ever read her love letters to Clinton? She kept the dress as a momento like some teenage boys hold on to the panties of their first few lovers. It turned into evidence only when Linda the good witch rescused her from thr devils grasp!
SLCabbie is 100% correct in his history of the Mormon Church involvement in the anti-ERA fight. The movement actually started in a small town in Utah. Around 1973, some of my homeschooling friends accompanied me from Pleasant Grove to hear a speech in Richfield, Utah, by the woman (whose name I have forgotten) who actually started the anti-ERA movement in Utah. Her slogan was "Hot Dog or Steak" and the premise was that the Equal Rights Amendment offered a steak but delivered a hot dog, i.e., women would lose preferential treatment that they now enjoyed, bathrooms would be coed, mother's would lose custody preference in divorces, etc. The original literature was mimeographed and I think I still have some in my old files.
Then Phillis Schafly and the Eagle Forum took over the anti-Era movement and they invited me to appear on television and speak against the amendment, which I did. There was no question at the time that the church was against the ERA and was recruiting women with public speaking experience to "stand up" against the feminists, who the church leaders told us were anti-family. The church leaders said it was a moral issue, therefore, church involvement was warranted. The issue was good and evil--God and Mormon women against feminists and Satan.
There was no such thing as a Mormon feminist before Sonya Johnson. Her excommunication polarized Mormon women and literally turned them on each other. After the publicity died down, the priesthood quietly brought the Relief Society under its patriarchal wing and the women no longer selected their own leaders or managed their own money. Away from the spotlight, the men eviscerated the ability of women to lead themselves, to set their own goals, define a mission or declare anything--and literally nothing of note has been uttered by a Mormon woman since. Mormon General Conference hails "wonderful" talks like the insipid "Mothers Who Know," yet another exhortation by Mormon leaders for women to reproduce more and speak less.
The Relief Society used to be a very powerful arm of the church, determining its own missions in various parts of the world, earning its own money and running its own programs. It was fun to go to Relief Society and learn about art, culture, even other religions, and especially I remember the sharing of skills the sisters had with each other.
I learned how to slaughter a rabbit, milk a goat, and can. I know the secret of how to make hard rolls with guaranteed fluffy light insides (freeze the dough overnight, raise twice more before baking). I taught a class in laundry management for big families (labeling: X for boys, Y for girls, XX for second boy, etc) how to crochet slippers that your children could never outgrow.
I realize now that the ERA debate killed the Relief Society and lead to it becoming the pale shadow it is today. What relief can they offer? None. What society do they provide? None--only checking and spying for the priesthood and reporting on what sisters are breaking rules.
I used to have in my files the old Relief Society magazine from the 20's and 30's where they kept the American Mormon women informed on all the projects they were doing worldwide. They were relieving hardship, sending food/blankets/clothing, training ladies on how to dig sanitation trenches. Seriously, there was one whole issue devoted to the importance of handling human waste in a sanitary manner.
But now Mormon women can go to Relief Society and learn how to make an angel tree topper out of foil and a toilet paper core.
Anagrammy
You go girl! Thanks for that! There are so many women torn with guilt in the workplace when they can't be home for theit children's needs. So many women at home made to feel guilty by the feminists for concentrating on homemaking and children rather than pursuing a career. Get Rosen on the psycho therapists couch and she will discover her lashing out at Ann Romney was out of jealousy and harbored guilt feelings for concentrating on her career at the deficit of meeting all of her own childrens needs!
Uh Grandpa,
Kathleen is a good friend of mine; even knows my real name even though we're members of different conspiracy cells... I'll let her tell the rest of her story if she so chooses.
She posted this elsewhere and re-produced it here at my request. You called me a liar and a bigot, remember? I'm thinking of retaining an attorney on contingency basis...
You want to apologize right now?
Or listen to the Perry voice in your head that's telling you there really is a conspiracy...
Of course you and Mikey ought to compare notes and get your smear-stuff straight. Mikey is calling the President a Commie, and you're insisting he's a National Socialist. I guess you didn't learn in that liberal arts education that you were bragging about that the National Socialists were abbreviated Nazis.
And as a taxi driver and local activist/historian, I've succeeded at a goal that's eluded you, which is becoming an honest man.
Nationalist Socialism:
Control of the privately owned corporations equals Nationalist Socialist economic phislosophy and practice. As practiced in Venezuala, as practiced in China, as practiced in the past in Italy, Germany, and Japan. Yes, its still an active political party in European counties. And it was Sol Lewisnsky's hope for the U.S, the Economic "genius" from the University of Chicago whose desciples populate the White House now.
How many women have drowned in the front seat of Romneys car?
And Ted Kennedy was nominated for President when? It seems to have disappeared from my historical records...
Kind of an Etch-a-Sketch, thing, maybe?
Here's a link from the LDS church's official website on the ERA ratification issue...
//www.lds.org/ensign/1980/03/the-church-and-the-proposed-equal-rights-amendment-a-moral-issue?lang=eng
Recently there has been increasing nationwide interest in the stand of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the proposed Equal Rights Amendment. Many members of the Church are sincerely asking, “Why has the Church considered this a moral issue?” and “Why has the First Presidency taken so positive a stand on the matter?”
From the leaders-whose-words-come-from-God....
Our Creator has especially suited fathers and mothers, through physical and emotional differences, to fulfill their own particular parental responsibilities. Legislation that could blur those roles gives cause for concern.
On this one, I did "ask a Mormon."
Not a very good week for the Obama White House! First his surrogate Hillary Rosen exposes the soft underbelly of the great War on Women for the poorly thought out nonsense it was, and now his Secret Service and perhaps members of the military that serve as the White House Communication Team have gone horny roque in Columbia. One bad hair day after another for team Obama and Axelrod, hmmm? Those women voters are fleeing in droves now!
Meanwhile, we still have Little Larry and his taxi driver friend on this blog droning on about the polygamist Mormons of 100 years ago in feeble attempts to cast aspirations on the moral character of Mitt Romney and Ann Romney. Bigotry will earn you only Backlash...you'd best take those words to heart before you do your man in the tarred up White House any more damage than he has on his hands already.
Perhaps he can call in Bill Clinton for a strategy session on how best to handle the damage done...that paragon of virtue (NOT) and respect for women (NOT) politician from Hot Springs, Arkansas, the renowned "loosened buckle on the Bible Belt"! LOL!
Hey Grandpa, did you see that Doonesbury cartoon last week where Alex dismisses Jeff Redfern as a writer of "war porn"?
Well, that FAUX NOISE political fantasy porn you're trying to peddle isn't going to sell any better than Jeff's book would in real life.
Shoot, if it had been a Republican in charge when story of the Secret Service agent broke, you and your cronies would've been pointing out that prostitution is legal in Colombia.
And I note that none of the agents charged were assigned to protect the President. They might've even been Bush-era holdovers...
/cue up Bob Dylan... How does it feel?
Well, we both like Dylan, that's a start.
I check with a good source on this subject, as my son had served in the military in Columbia, and well as a whole number of places much hotter in our troubled world, like the White House Communication Team stradeling both Clinton and Geroge W Bush adnministrations.
The Secret Service and military members would have been personel in the advance party sent in to totally canvas and secure the necessary arrangements for the President's arrival for the Conference. They would have been in place for up to two weeks prior, and possible seeing the drug crime influence still underway in Columbia, possibly longer.
The agents involved most like fell victim to what my son says U.S. military personnel had been warned during his tour in Columbia (although of course he did not need to be so warned, as he was happily married). The scam played often on the unsuspecting who get a litle too thirsty when visiting the hotel bar is that a lady (or group of ladies) will act like they are just part of a good party, impress that they are really interested in their mark, and then in the morning demand payment. One temporarily love struck agent refused to pay, and of course the pro then reported him to the hotel management, prostitution being legal in Columbia.
How do you spell blackmail, threats to expose, attemting to extropolate information from the advance party on the preparations for the POTUS visit? At the very least, not an authorized expense for the advance TTY funds the federal tax payer shells out to federal personnel. Similar to the incredibly stupid waste of tax payer monies by the GSA clowns off partying in Sin City, hmmm?
3 counter assualt team members that were full secret service agents, and members of the anti-sniper team advance party. And, s few of the supervisors were also swept ip in the investigation here.
Notably, in ancient history, the Secret Service directly assisted in sheparding the women into Jack Kennedy's lecherous arms during his Presidency; times were different in the 1990s, but they certainly committed the sins of ommission in looking the other way while Clinton and Monica were carrying on, especially on the weekend White House events when Monica Lewinsky, young naive intern, would sign in, and Bill would leave the company of Hillary and Chelsea in the living quarters and hot foot over to the Offices for his adulterous pleasures.
Oh, I forgot. It's the Mormons and their supposed "lack of moral compass" you are most interest in posting on.
Oh, and I don't rely on comic books and cartoons to get my information from, and find the Daly Show and Colbert Show simply apoitially partisan humorous, and not a very good source of political thought. They are out for the guffaws and chuckles you know with that satire, not leading a leftist political cause celebre as a lot of naive viewers believe them to be.
Didn't teach you what a metaphor was at that "liberal arts college," did they Lt. Fuzz? And I learned 'em as well in counselor's school... You mean you didn't? Your vocabulary word for the day is A-B-S-T-R-A-C-T. It has to do with thinking styles and the ability to use one's imagination.
And it's not particularly the Mormon's "moral compass" that's troubling to me; it's the fact that they insist it should be used as the supreme navigational device for politics and lawmaking, at least here on Planet Utah (with spillovers into Arizona and Idaho).
For example, don't try to exercise that hobby of yours here, racetrack handicapping... They had a ballot initiative on legalizing parimutuel here about 20 years ago. I rented a computer and some software to a group committed to the initiative's defeat. The letterhead on the purchase order was a "who's who" of the LDS church and included Gordon B. Hinckley who wound up LDS President a few years later...
There's absolutely no gambling or state lottery here, and the folks in Nevada (120 short miles away by taxi) appreciate the windfall.
Addendum: Now watch him holler about my bringing up "ancient history" again....
So you are in Utah...good to know, that! I'll know where to find you even if you keep your riduculous monikor to hide your identity. Northeastern lawyers have a way of ferreting out their marks, although I doubt if your daughter's college fund you shovel you hidden from the IRS tips from into is large enough to interest them.
Abstract art is, of course, a caricature of reality only. I refer the realism school myself, although the impressionists also get my interest.
Wake up Missy .....
over 1000 pieces of legislation enacted to delay, deny, and shame a woman over her right to Choose...
transvaginal 'wanding' - legislated by the government ... and putting the image in the woman's field of vision ... (PA)
not allowing physicians to tell women when the fetus they are carrying may have a severe defect ....
repeal of equal work for equal pay by Scott Walker ...
'personhood' legislation that would effectively outlaw most means of contraception ..
'contraception is just wrong' .... Rick Santorum
or your dear husband saying that women need to know 'the dignity of work' .... except of course those who are the idle rich....
sorry sweetie - but those of us (unlike yourself) who would be impacted by the Republican legislation against women will not let it happen....
now just go back to Elizabeth Arden and have a nice day
And for my last word I trust everyone is reading how Ann Romney "welcomed" the attack on her, seeing it as an "early birthday present." (Don't worry, I'm not going far; I'm just done with this clip).
Those privileged folks are playing games with America's future, and they go so far as admitting it...

At the fundraiser, Haake adds, both Romney and his wife Ann remained absolutely giddy about last week’s Hilary Rosen flap. "It was my early birthday present for someone to be critical of me as a mother, and that was really a defining moment, and I loved it," Ann Romney said.
I get accused of being mean-spirited and anti-religious when I refer to such tactics as "Do-it-yourself-martyr-complexes," but that's exactly what they are...
GSA runaway partying spending spree linked to a former Obama senatorial aide who got his partonage job in the Inspectors General Office, and this clown instead of making known to his superiors the severity of the misappropriation of tax payers dollars in a timely fahion tipped off the White House instead so they could get the machine working to bury this growing scandal story...and managed to do so for 13 months.
Now we are treated to the spectacle of the leftist, in the bag for Obama's reelection media giants NBC (those of the admitted racebaiting distorted Police-Zimmerman converstation, ABC, and CNN teaming to petition for a release of all the records of evidence in the hands of the Special Prosecutors office, so they can continue to try the Zimmerman case in the media, for their own ends. And those ends would be to continue the distraction of this isolated incident between two men in Sanford, FL in order to keep the publics eyes from the serious issues of Obama and the Dems failed economic, financial, energy, defense, and healthcare policies and practices; while simultaneously reaping the supposed increase in their ratings and sells of publications. FOR SHAME! What an unbelievable assault on the American Jurisprudence system. All for political and financial gain!
Interesting that the police records, etc. in the Trayvon Martin case are sealed, but our resident bullshipper can authoritatively claim that Trayvon was a gang-tatted juvenile delinquent who deserved to be shot down since he was armed with Skittles and and iced-tea....
And insist it's an obvious case of "race baiting" for people to ask why the shooter was released....
And I hate to break it to him (he goes kind of gonzo when reality intrudes into his fantasy world), but it was a Democrat who blew the whistle on the GSA stuff...
Now Grandpa Fuzz has insisted there's no such thing as athropogenic global warming, impersonated a lawyer, and otherwise attempted some serious woolpulling simply to try to disrupt this site and the information that effectively addresses the right wing Talking Oinks®.
I'd toss back a "For Shame" at him, but his hypocrisy has demonstrated he's particularly shameless...
Ann Romney along with her husband stiff body mitt both should be made to serve at a animal shelter and learn how to treat animals these two people are poor examples shameless pieces of pustule
the GOP is sinking like the Titanic nothing can save them all those greedy old fools is going to the bottom like the titanic never to come back to the top what relief
One can at least optimistically hope that all that money being spent by the billionaire spinmeisters will at least contribute a little to re-vitalizing the economy that the Cheney administration tanked....
Up in the polls, tjhough. What is sinking is the "gender gap" percentage of the vote women say they will give to Obama. It's down to 12% now, from a high of 16% in 1996, 14% in 2000, and 13% in 2004, and 12.5% in 2008. Women voters are seeing more and more as they pass through the glass ceiling that the Dems only partonize them with token giveya's like the co-pay free birth control pills issue to compensate for their loss of 93% of the 5,000,000,000 jobs lost since Obama took office.
You do the math!
