Two attorneys representing George Zimmerman, the man who fatally shot unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, today announced their resignation from the case. Lawyers Craig Sonner and Hal Uhrig said he's essentially gone rogue.
"As of the last couple days he has not returned phone calls, text messages or emails," Sonner said at a press conference. (The same guy who infamously bailed on our show just minutes before air.) "He's gone on his own. I'm not sure what he's doing or who he's talking to. I cannot go forward speaking to the public about George Zimmerman and this case as representing him because I've lost contact with him."
Uhrig expressed lingering concern over Zimmerman, who he said is "not doing well emotionally" and may be suffering from PTSD after the deadly February incident.
Without consulting his legal team, Zimmerman set up a website to raise money for his defense fund, reached out to Fox News host Sean Hannity on his own, as well as the special prosecutor in the case.
Natalie Jackson, an attorney for Martin's family, said these lawyers "continue to make irresponsible statements to the media." In a statement obtained by NBC News she said, "Not only have they spoken recklessly about racial issues, enflaming passions and reinforcing stereotypes," now they've thrown "their own client, George Zimmerman, under the bus by eluding to his possible flight from justice."
Zimmerman has yet to be arrested in the case, claiming he shot the 17-year-old out of self defense.

I'm just an audio guy.. I make no claims to anything else.
I took the 911 call with the most audio informatiion regarding screams, pulled down some of the louder noises (the actual shot and a few times the woman caller gets a bit loud) so they don't hurt you while listening to the softer noises... Then ran it at a slower speed and pitch corrected it 100 percent true. Anyone with an ear for music can tell not a note has been changed.. Digital affords you this luxury. In the analog days we had to physically slow the tape/medium down and you lose pitch and clarity.
THIS AUDIO IS NOT ENHANCED per sey.. not like enhancing a photo.. the only enhancing has been to adust volume levels so you don’t hurt your ear listening to everything at relative volume levels.
There are a few swirling artifacts in this copy because I had to compres the wav file to a 128 kbps mp3 to fit on my page so you had a player to hear it on.. These artifacts are slight and will not distract.
share.cfm?id=11548279
This exercise is just a way to access the call and hear things you would not of as easily (but every bit of audio information from the original is still there) just listening to the raw recording. Akin to slowing down video without the frame per second limitations.
Why don't you tell us your business address also? This is the 2nd time i've seen you post your nonsense. NBC got caught readhandd manipulating taped conversations now you admit that you manipulated the recorded tape off a "news" broadcast, and found the smoking gun? Give us a break; you are a fake, "audio guy"!!
Relax Chas, this guy is a nobody and a blowhard bully with decided racist tendencies (and cuckoo clock ones at that; he suggested I was an emigrant who lacked a green card).
BTW, the "Shaken Baby" term came from one of Zimmerman's attorneys, and elsewhere our guy claimed it was manufactured by the media.
This is the second time you've posted this. I've listed to what your link led to and it's absolutely nothing but a slowed down version of one of the 911 calls-the one where you hear screaming in the background. Your "audio genius" didn't reveal anything.
Remember his brother said he was almost a baby in diapers due to Travons over whelming might. Then the Shaken baby things. hmmm. ;]
As far as his lawyers leaving. A lawyer will leave a client when doing pro bono when that client is guilty or has confessed. You see at this point there is NO judge to order them to continue as council. They are free to do as they wish. BUT! And that's there wife's very BIG, but, it eludes to them now knowing they cannot win if and again that is IF a case is even brought.
Doing the case pro bono means they needed to get something out of the case. A win per se'. Now they know that is not nor was it ever a possibility. So they quit. NOTHING to gain here.
However I still am of te thought that do to city and county quid pro quo NO case will be brought and that is what the press conference is about. BU doing SO this new "States Attorney" will be calling into question the "Old States Attorney" and former "Chief" of police . Demanding an investigation into there conduct or lack there of. And NO "States attorney" that I know of will do that because when quid pro quo comes around for that county to investigate YOUR county you will be screwed to put it mildly. I have seen it happen over and over again. Bold faced. Even when a month later one who was being investigated after the case was NOT pursued confessed for example.. Hmmm. Indeed.!
Is that town of Sanford's law community ready for an all out onslaught of investigation in to this matter and there law departments? Let alone ALL of the new cases that will come up for review and appeal? Heck my friends, prosecutors and cops never even apologize when wrong or when they have wrongly arrested or convicted someone. That would be admitting they did something wrong even when they DID!; ]
Cheers.
Cabbte:
I saw yur bragging post on how you were goimng to heroicialy "expose" my intellect for what you though of it, which, aparently, isn't much. But I refer you to the post on the "Shaken Baby Syndrome" for my comment that this was nothing more than an analogy, and not a claim of injury, where I posted that the lawyer offered that up as an explanation that Zimmerman didn't have to wait until his scull was fractured and gushing arterial blood and oozimg brians to know that the assault he was experiencing at the hands of the trespasser Martin was a serious risk of boidily injury.
NOWHERE did I ever say that the media made it up. THAT is something you just made up, though. And up to now I've run this somewhat good natured banter with you as uou and your kind usually amuse me, but no more.
You are not exposing anything but yourself as a liar!
Suggesting that there's a vast conspiracy to engage in "race baiting" isn't accusing the media of making something up?
Go give the charge nurse the keys back to the computer day room and tell here you're sorry and won't go off your meds again.
Proven fact isn't a suggestion. NBC partially admitted their role in the slanting of this story to one of racial profiling (albeit they say it was their productuon staff, not their editorial staff that was responsible for the dirty deed. Of course MSNBCs Democrat Party political operatives had eagerly run with that story, and they have yet seen fit to admit their error in doing so. Maybe you accept NBC's apology to their viewers on this distorting racebaiting slander (made on a holiday weekend where it would receive the least possible notice), but I don't. Not until the Holder Justice Department investigates same, and probably not until they apologize to Mr. Zimmerman and pay him due recompense.
Keith:
And I though the modified audio supports that Zimmermann was calling for help. Too bad you branded it already as fake.
It sounds to me like Zimmerman is afraid he's going to be charged. If so, let's hope he gives himself up.
Pat, in the State if Florida if the Special Prosecutor wants to obtain an indictment on felony charges of 1st or 2nd degree murder or manslaughter, she must go to the Grand Jury to do so. Those are the laws of the state.
She has not chosen that route, she states she is continuing the investigation. I admire her courage here, and her announced refusal to meet with Zimmerman without his counsel present. This stepping aside by the attorneys that had been reoresenting Zimmerman pro bono in this Court of Public Opinion nonsense only, without a signed retainer, are also doing their ethnically resonsible duty to step down until Zimmerman is notified by the State's Special Counsel to return the State of Florida. Recall, he is not under arrest, he has not been told he will be arrested, and therefore he needs no lawyer at this time.
Too,there is that little nastiness of the Black Panthers bounty on his head, dead or alive, that is a criminal felony conspiracy to deprive him of his civil rights and/or a hate crime of conspiracy to commit kidnapping at the very leeast. When do you think the Obama-Holder Justice Department mves to investigate and take action to bring charges to those responsible? Don't hold your breath!
Unfortunately, the stench of the circus will be amongst us still long after the tents were packed up and the left town under the cover of darkness.
Could we get some lawyers to add some insights to this one before our Foxbot whopper flinger--and I don't hamburgers--gets away with more of his nonsense?
Per CBS News, a Grand Jury is only required for a charge of First Degree Murder, and Lt. Fuzz above (a honk of my horn to the late Mort Walker) is once again apparently making up stuff (BTW, you folks are welcome to see how fast he ran away from engaging with me on the subject of addictions treatment; he's long on buzzwords but short on knowledge, and I managed some expertise after realizing I had to bet my life on some stuff over 30 years ago).
//www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57411290/special-prosecutor-no-grand-jury-for-trayvon-martin-case/
The decision to press charges now rests solely with Corey, whose reputation was to not present cases before grand juries if not required under state law. (In Florida grand juries are only required in cases of first-degree murder.)
Well, I suppose it is possible CBS is in on the conspiracy to try George Zimmerman in that mythical court of public opinion, along with Eric Holder and MSNBC,,,
More stuff from Lawrence as I write this... Zimmerman's former attorneys have suggested those looking for him should look beyond Florida.
Charles Blow: "I just think this whole thing is nuts."
Well said, CB...
Poor Cabbie...belie every thing he reads..if it fits his slant on things. Believed the nonsense put out by NBC trying to slant this to a racial profiling case too, no doubt. Once he gets his feeble, addiction weakened mind around these "facts" of his, he is a goner. Can't see the light for the darkness in his soul.
I got my information from a practicing defense lawyer in the State of Florida appearing on CNN. 1st or 2nd degree, Cabbie, 2st or 2nd degree.
Nice backpedaling, headcase...
First it's 1st, 2nd, or manslaughter, and then the mention of manslaughter is suddenly overlooked...
And it was CBS I cited, not NBC. Unlike FAUX Noise where you get your manufactured data and talking oinks®, they are prone to do a little fact checking.
I'm guessing your "lawyerly" information was worth about what you paid for it. Now you asked for a bit of information about me, and I'll let slip that my old man attended West Point. I was essentially "raised" under the service Academy Honor Code (he resigned his commission to marry my mother). I recall you went to particularly pains to dis' officers in the military, going out of your way to compare them to me when the relevance was non-existent.
The single worst offense against that code was "quibbling" (more remedial vocabulary I know, but you can handle it). Your posts here have been nothing but when you've been challenged on the facts and you resort to repeated dissembling. And then, with unmitigated chutzpah, you accuse me of the same when I merely pass on what reasonable reporters have offered.
You, sir, are an offense against the uniform you once wore.
So the root of your addiction problems is your guilt for not having lived up to your Father's accomplisments? I date my ancestry not just to a parent who went to service in World War II (as I went during the Cold War period of the early 60s, but also as far back as a Lt. Hosmer and Cpl. Hosmer who stood against the British at Concord Bridge.
As you can't read apparently, let me point out tat there are degrees of charges that might be sought to both murder and manslaughter, and seeking 1st and 2nd degree indictments must go before a grand jury.
Keith
And what makes you think the DOJ isn't investigating the so called black panthers??
You believe we are going to be told about every investigation the DOJ us involved in or conducting??
The tapes have already been "analyzed" by expets. All 3 have stated, in written statements, the the screeming isn't Zimmerman. Prove the entire family to be lying.
larry:
They were quick to trot out the FBI investigators at the scene looking for evidence a full month after the incident, as if that was a worthwhile use of the taxpayers funds as a "show investigation" only. Holder has seen fit to talk about this issue to the press, but not a work about people actually putting a bounty on someones head dead or alive? That can't be be news worthy? These fools in the "New" Black Panthers were appearing in front of crowds and taking the microphone and appearing on cable news shows, but investigating them needs to be on the QT?
Give me a break. It's all so obviously political!
Fox will always be there for George. Not only did Zimmerman take Martin's life. He took his vote. Republicans winning elections one vote at a time.
nice try but zimm is a registered dem.
He's not talking about Zimmerman. Read the entire thing then step back and think about it.
And at 17 he couldn't vote, unless fraudulantly.
Will Black leadership follow this advice on the Trayvon Martin case?
Maybe Hannity can help him. I think these two are a match made in hell. Of course he reached out to Hannity, the role model of vitriol and racist rhetoric.
Sean Hannity and h9is production crew found the smoking gun of NBC's distortion of the recorded tape of Zoimmerman's conversation with the Police dispatcher and exposed it for what it was, a blantant lie attemting (successfully) to paint this case as one of racial profiling. If you sorry fools who still believe that core misfact in this case got your respective noses out of the stench of NBC and MSNBC and spent some time reading newpapers and listening to other news networks, you would be woken from your bad dream, and given the opportunity to take a good deep breath of something other than the putrid stench of racebaiting airtime that his these fools persist in befouling the body politic with.
And I heard the exact same tape on Fox several time slots. Sound like you and commie mika need to go back to your Fox friends.
larry:
On Fox you heard the unadulterated, unedited to racebait tape. Thats the difference.
just picked up that racist pig zimmerman is hiding out either in Peru or in Northern Virginia, where he used to live before. I hope someone gets him and makes him a truthteller when he said that he had lost his whole life because of this incident where he killed a kid worth 1000 times his filthy stinking life...
Based on the repeated and excruciating screams heard a minute or so before the shot is fired, Zimmerman had the opportunity not to shoot Martin. Since he shot him anyway, the prosecutor has enough evidence to bring a murder charge -- this is so even if we assume that Zimmerman was initially punched and knocked down. Martin’s “help, help” pleas show that Zimmerman later got the upper hand, and could have waited for the police make the arrest. Instead, he shot an unarmed man pleading for help. This is enough to show criminal intent and a murder charge is therefore in order.
As for race, it had nothing to do with Zimmerman’s decision to shoot -- though it may have been a factor in his pursuing Martin at the outset. It certainly was a factor in the perfunctory investigation that followed. Nonetheless, Zimmerman, did not shoot Martin because he was black. He shot him because he was angry. So angry, in fact, that he could not hear Martin’s desperate pleas for help.
Great anger, even when provoked, does not justify the killing of another human being.
The primary adult eyewitness indentified the man on the bottom in the fight being pummeled by the man on top as being the man that was screaming for help. He identified him to police by the clothing the two men were wearing.
The audio experts say it wasn't Zimmerman screaming. But we really don't want the truth or facts to get in your way now do we. I'll take the word of 3 experts over yours any day.
The
racial disparity isn’t simply that Zimmerman's motives were racially induced,
but that his lack of arrest was. If Zimmerman were black we would not be having
this discussion, because he would have been arrested. I think everyone forgets
that the objective here is for him to be arrested. We want a jury to decide on
his guilt or innocence, after reviewing all evidence. I am really at a lost to
see why is that such a horrible request. He shot an unarmed kid...
Jurys don't decide on innonence. They deide on the quetions of guilty BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT or not guilty. Pure and simple, no inbetween, no equivocating.
And who exactly is WE? Who elected you to talk for everyone else?
Who elected you?
The prosecutor said she will make an announcement that some new information has come to light or something has come up! What if the feds have finished their investigation and now have proof that race was a factor and they can file charges using the "hate crime" statutes? She did not say something to indicate she would be filing charges, but making an announcement!
Wrong...she said she would have an announcement when the investigation is concluded, and there is something to announce. Pure and simple. Stop trying to make something more out of that to help you sleep at night. Try turning off the cable news before 10:00 PM, taking a clensing warm shower, getting into your jamies and snuggling up with a stuffed animal and going off to bed!
Maybe you need a faster computer hook-up. Shoot, I'm a poor, impoverished cabdriver, but I wouldn't be without my cable modem...
//usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/04/10/11124992-florida-prosecutor-to-release-new-information-in-martin-shooting?lite
The special prosecutor investigating the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin in Florida said Tuesday evening that she was preparing to release new information on the investigation, and would do so in the next 72 hours.
We already know Keith isn't interested in facts. They spoil his talking points. Maybe he should defend Zimm in court. The 2 fit together.
Are we sure that the Lawyers were really Zimmerman's lawyers. After all, for lawyers not to see the client in a very serious case like this, and to share so much information, doesn't make sense. I'm not convinced they were his lawyers, and that he had an agreement with them to attorney/client privileges. The lawyers said that Zimmerman told the prosecutor that they were his legal advisers, not his attorneys. If that's the case, and with very little involvement with him, the lawyers can say whatever. Is there a way to verify if there was an agreement?
These two attorneys were simply representing Zimmerman in the Court of Public Opinion, and not doing a very good job of it, apparently. Zimmerman has not been arrested, he has not been told he would be arrested, and the attorneys were trying to put him under their self imposed gag order on him only in this case.
The two attorneys haven't "resigned"...as there is no retainer to resign from. They expressed their willingness to serve as his legal counsel and representatives if he desires them to.
I don't find that "Court of Opinion" in that Constitution you right wingers are always claiming you are here to uphold...
The headline says they have resigned from the case, your "they didn't either because I said so" claims not withstanding. The Special Prosecutor reported that she did not talk with Zimmerman when he called because she was operating under the belief he had retained counsel and to do so would be a violation of the law.
if you'd quit trying to spin you wouldn't appear so dizzy...
Don't know why Keith feels he needs to respond to every post, when it's so obvious he has nothing relevant to add.
His chest must be black and blue from all his chest pounding.
Since you believe so much in Zimmerman have you put your money where your mouth is? How much have you donated to his defense fund ? My guess your as cheap as your opinions.
Unless, you were an eyewitness your opinions are only based on news reports the same as our opinions. Why you like to pretend you have some special insight is ridiculous.
Being arrogant and liking to belittle people doesn't make you right , it only makes you intolerant of other people having a say as to how they feel about a subject.
Are we sure that these lawyers actually signed an agreement with Zimmerman? After all, they have never personally met with them and only communicated by telephone. The lawyers said Zimmerman told the prosecutor that the lawyers were his "legal advisers." Maybe they wanted to make sure Zimmerman had money first and did not do an agreement, which explains why the website was created. Is there a way to verify whether these lawyers were actually hire to represent Zimmerman?
A letter of retainer was prepared for Zimmerman's signature and mailed to him.
Zimmerman has not returned it according to the attorneys.
I wouldn't be surprised if George Zimmerman killed himself. Yah, it sounds like Zimmerman's lawyers are suggesting he's left Florida, but it also sounds like they're looking for him. It sounds like they're encouraging Zimmerman to get in touch with someone without giving people a reason to go looking for him.
Sean Hannity spoke with him by phone. A close friend and neighbor reports he has spoken just Monday with Zimmerman. I'm sure his family members have spoken with him too.
Lt. Fuzz knows these things are true because the voices in his head told him they were.
It makes him feel bigger when he tries to pretend to have "inside" information and knows things. I find it interesting that he takes, as fact and truth, what anybody sticking up for Zimmerman says, but nothing people asking for justice says is true.
And we already knowm he knows nothing and is not open for discussion based on known facts.
I wonder if any of these folks here know what a bench trial is - all demanding a trial by jury. As to the issue of the special prosecutor, she can bring charges without a grand jury. The biggest hurdle for her and her people is that they will only bring charges and charge appropriately given sufficient evidence - enough to bring a conviction. The idea that we arrest someone and then find the evidence, and then throw it out there for a jury to decide is ludicrous. If there is a rush to judgement or an over zealous prosecution without the necessary due diligence, Zimmerman could easily choose a bench trial and/or make a plea deal beneficial to himself. Worst case scenario is the case gets thrown out and he walks.
So, all the folks screaming bloody murder, need to relax a little, let the special prosecutor do her job, gather the required evidence, and prosecute appropriately, even if that means going after a manslaughter charge.
Justice will be served.
These two lawyers come across as nothing more than a couple of gossips who like seeing themselves in the press and on tv. Most of what they say is told to them by someone other than Zimmerman himself. However, they report it as fact as if they have seen it with their own eyes. These two haven't even met him and only talked to him on the phone. How on earth can you judge whether a person is lying to you or not if you can't look him in the eyes while he is telling you his story? They attest to his physical condition by saying he is losing weight, attest to his mental state by saying he is suffering from PTSD, say he is crying all the time. None of this have they witnessed with their own eyes.
By the things that Zimmerman is doing now just prove how he feels he is entitled to do what he wants and when he wants to do it , it demonstrates he has no respect for authority. It shows what a coward he is when he doesn't have his 9mm to wave around. The same goes for his cowardly father who only gives his version of events hidden behind a screen. Let's not forget the crazy brother and his ridiculous account given to Piers Morgan.
It is very easy to determine if Zimmerman shot in self defense or if it was murder. If he was on top of Martin as one eye witness stated "the larger man on top got up and walked away", if that is the case the trajectory of the bullet as determined by the autopsy will be much different with the bullet probably still in the ground as opposed to Martin being shot from Zimmerman's waist with the bullet going up through Martin's stomach toward his shoulder.
And now we see this headline:
"George Zimmerman to be charged in Trayon Martin Case"
//usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/04/11/11144255-nbc-george-zimmerman-to-be-charged-in-trayvon-martin-case?lite
Well, they only have it as "reportedly" over on FAUX; I'd post a link to that one too, but I don't want their cookies in my browser...
To use a cliché I heard around here a few years ago, our Foxbot troll's credibility is on par with a "peeled zero." What's more he isn't even man enough to acknowledge he was dead wrong.
The special prosecutor in the Trayvon Martin case will announce criminal charges against George Zimmerman on Wednesday, a law enforcement official told NBC News.
But because Angela Corey — the special prosecutor appointed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to re-examine the case — previously announced that she wouldn't take the case to a grand jury, first-degree murder is not an option.
Which is exactly what I said above and in the other clip... With Lt. Fuzz insisting I was a liar...
Thanks to all the "cavalry" who showed up; I understand and respect those who choose not to "engage" these sorts, but right now the Koch brothers' billions and Rupert Murdoch's minions at FAUX have demonstrated no regard for the truth, and the only time they bring up the subject of manners is after they've committed their offenses and sanctimoniously try to accuse one of rudeness for pointing them out to them.
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCO6smQrjJ8
Okay, I'm having some fun with that one, but my grandfather once sold a collectible antique firearm to Clayton Moore. True story...
SL Cabbie, AP is reporting that Zimmerman will be charged with 2nd degree murder.
Apparently the relentless hue and cry put enough political pressure on the politically appointed Special Prosecutor to make a political decision to charge. Now, let her attempt to obtain first a finding by a magistrate under a First Appearance, then withstand the affirmative defense before a magistrate on a Stand Your Ground claim, and if she gets past that, attempt to prove Zimmerman's guilt BEYOND A REASONABLE on his affirmative defense of not guilty due to claim of acting in self defense before a jury. Those are some serious hurdles ahead.
The first two appearances before a magistrate might take place in Seminole County, but if there is, indeed, to be a trial you can be sure it will take place somewhere else in the State of Florida (perhaps closer to the capital in Tallahassee?) as the NACCP, NIH, and Black Panther led continuous rallies in that county augmented by an irresponsible local and national news media has tainted any possible objective jury pool.
I believe Corey and team overshot their possibilities here with a 2nd degree murder charge, and will be hard pressed to get a jury to "split" the baby, and give them a 2nd degree manslaughter instead. Anyway, it will be a 18 months or more before the State ever gets to a trial phase, if they get past the other hurdles. Lets hope the Justice Department puts the hammer down on the incidentary "New" Black Panthers and those of their ilk, hope that cooler heads in the black community will prevail, that the "news" media will return to other stories to follow, like the election year issues of economy, national finances, energy, defense, and health care that are upon us in this election year.
And lets hope that this racebaiting nonsense ceases, we have seen the worst, if not the best also of our institutions in this sorry affair to date. There can be improvement. And lets hope the fervor for justice spawned by this case will now be put to changing the absymal day to day injustices of the murders and rapes and assaults and thefts and property violations and thefts suffered by people in the black communities of our country at the hands of black criminals.
