When the current stock runs out, the Encyclopaedia Britannica as a printed set will be no more. It will be online and app only, ending 244 years of being continuously in print, and also ending the beloved tradition of fighting over certain volumes in elementary school for reasons I shall not go into.
I'll miss the printed version of course, but the (huge) advantage to online only is you don't end up with 26+ volumes of outdated stuff on the shelf. If you head over to the Britannica site, Randy Moss, Julianne Moore and Joseph Kony just had their entries updated. That's cool. So is this... the six types of volcanic eruptions. I'd forgotten about that.
I'd also forgotten how to spell Britannica.
