Lawrence, I'm concerned about the lives lost world wide due to the "drug war". As the prohibition of alcohol proved, prohibition promotes criminal activity by providing money, and guns to criminals not afraid to use them. Portugal legalized drugs in 2001, which reduced the problems and costs by 50%. I lost my first grandchild to the "drug war", and on March 1st a Buffalo, NY girl was shot watching TV in her own home. In a presidential election year with Vice President Biden touring South America promoting the "drug war", isn't it time we had a real national discussion about eliminating prohibition? If America could apply some of the lessons learned in Portugal, I'm sure we could take the war out of drugs...
