Dr. Robert Jeffress, senior baptist pastor of a Texas megachurch says Mormons are not Christians. That's slightly softer language than before. He's the same guy who previously called Mormonism a "cult."
On Tuesday, he told MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell, "I'll hold my nose and vote" for Mitt Romney if it comes down to it — not a ringing endorsement, even by his own account. "Given the choice between a non-Christian like Mitt Romney who at least embraces some biblical precisions like the sanctity of life and sanctity of marriage, as opposed to a professing Christians like Barack Obama who takes unbiblical positions, I believe there's a merit in choosing the non-Christian over the Christian."
Romney's Mormonism has been a hot topic this entire election cycle, heating up again recently over evangelical leader Franklin Graham's comments that most Christians don't consider Mormons (ie Mitt Romney) to be Christians.

FOOL!!! Mormons are Christians. Tell me what is the definition of a Christian?
I looked it up in the dictionary: Christian adj: Professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.Relating to or derived from Jesus or Jesus's teachings.Manifesting the qualities or spirit of Jesus; ...
The mormon beliefs are based on the teaching of Jesus Christ. Mormons BELIEVE in Jesus Christ.
So before you open your big mouth again, PLEASE, PLEASE!! get your facts straight.
sincerley,
A MORMON CHRISTIAN
I'm not so sure turning the conversation to religion to avoid talking about the improving economy is going to work for the conservatives.
Primary voters are by nature a very small slice of the general population, and while the weird and crazed talk coming from the GOP presidential candidates may do well for them in the primaries, there's still the general election to deal with. It's going to be a very interesting election.
Who CERTFIED these arrogant people to decide who is, or is not, Christian??? What's next??? They're not Christian because they don't dance a jig under the moon, on the second Wednesday of the month?
I, wonder how many don't know, Mormon is a nickname for the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints (Hence: LDS...) So, some competing for members Church decides The Church of Jesus Crist is not Christian???
IMHO, Organized Religion is disgusting.... I'll stay with my personal Spirituality, which makes no attempt to convert anyone..
The only people who believe LDS is Christian ... are Mormons .... go figure ....
Dr Robert Jefress could breathe a whole lot easier if he were to vote for Obama
LOL! Love it!
Well said! LOL!! Thank you!
BTW LDS members, answer this - is the LDS the only true Christian Religion - this is what you are taught. This is why you baptize other Christians and anyone else you care to ....
Mormons do not believe in the trinity of God, but three separate entities. New Testament John 1:1 states: In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God - Later in John 1 it says that the word became flesh and dwelt among us.
If you do not believe that Jesus is God, and has always been God then what Jesus do you profess to follow? The fake one Joseph Smith made up when the so called 'Jesus Christ' appeared in Nephi and proclaimed 'I am Jesus Christ' - You can only come to two conclusions when reading 3 Nephi 11 - that 1. The Jesus Christ mentioned in this passage is a false anti-christ, and 2. that Joseph Smith made it up. Either way, what you have is the foundation of a false religion which professes Christianity.

Unfortunately this is a schism which Protestant Christianity cannot and will not accept.
Mathew 24:4-5 "And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many."
In Christian love ....
Narcissism 101:
Note the Pastor's definition of a Christian is "One who believes Christ has forgiven their sins." That one makes it about them and not God or Jesus or what God's will is... Of course they're in utter denial about that, as anyone with trained perceptions can easily see...
Narcissism amounts to a lot of unresolved shame issues ultimately rooted in one's upbringing; there's a huge "mask" that's adopted, attendant acting-out behaviors because of the fundamental developmental arrest and immaturity, a "look good at any cost" mentality that includes projecting one's hidden shortcomings on others... These are people who are not comfortable in their own skins.
And manipulations galore... Scaring us the way Bush 43 did with WMD's... Of course, what I find baffling is Pastor Jeffress is mentioning the "last days" in his book, and Mormons call them themselves the Latter-day Saints...
My feeling is these views amount to a silly selling point, not a theological one...
All these pulpit pimps whoring out Jesus for a dime need to just shut up and go sit in the corner and read the Constitution, mainly section VI the last paragraph. The part that says there will be no religious test as a qualification to any office or public trust of the United States. They are only bound to an oath or affirmation to support and defend this Constitution, not to any other nation or any religion, just to this one and it's Constitution. They need to read the first amendment real carefully too, it says that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. That means you can't have your religious beliefs made into the law of the land, nor can you restrict people of other religions or belief systems from their chosen beliefs even if they are not the same as yours. I believe that Mother Nature is the giver of life and she provides all we need to live and it seems that many of these assumed christians are out to destroy her in any way they can. Is that out of jealousy because we have a real tangible deity to give honor to and she doesn't require money either just respect, and all they got is the invisible guy in the sky to talk to via pulpit pimps they have to pay for reading their book to them. If they would of paid attention in grammar school they might have learned to actually read themselves and saved all that money they've paid to their preachers. And now they want the teachers to be preachers for less pay. All these religions and their books are man-made, true spirituality comes from the mind and spirit not from any book. If you actually follow what Jesus taught you would be a 1st class socialist, the book says that it's easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than to get a wealthy man into heaven and that the rich guys should give away all their extra wealth to help the poor man up. Jesus was the welfare god. And now we have all these millionaires claiming to be christians who don't want to help the poor up. Greed is also a deadly sin, just as bad as murder or adultery. Ego or pride is also a sin. Oh yeah, "let them without sin cast the first stone" that is what your Jesus said about judging others. It also says in the book that all people are sinners. So I guess that rules out humans as judges. All of these different denominations say that they are the only true christians and say things to slight the others, very few of them actually walk their talk. I think that I will stay true to good old Mother Nature. I wonder what message she is sending to all those folks in the area know as the bible belt, aka tornado alley. Could it be that they need to stop messing with her creation aka earth.
Santorum, you are an embaressment to the Christian faith and esp. the Catholic faith of which I am a member. I have never hear such hateful things that you have been spouting. Where did you dig up some of the issues that you are professing. I must have studied from a differnt book then you. All I can say is get back to the issues that are on the agenda. Everyones Religion is important to them and no one deseves the stuff!!! you are handing the people. GET REAL.
I always have to come in at the end, to clear the cobwebs out of everyone else's brain and do their thinking for them[this includes the pundits].....
The KEY to ANY religion, is its promise of SALVATION--it's Theology of Salvation...
CHRIST created the Christian faith AND the Christian religion "on this Rock[i.e., Peter]I will build my Church", now known as the Roman Catholic religion [St Peter's basilica in Rome IS St Peter's tomb--Peter was the first pope and most of the popes in history, are buried alongside Peter, in the basements of the church]...
Jesus Christ is but one of three persons in our Triune God: the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost...the Father created the universe[the physical world] ; the Holy Ghost created all living things ; the son presented humans with a new covenant and is our teacher, our Salvific judge and SAVIOUR...
BOTTOM LINE: Mormons do not believe this! That is why they are not Christian...they believe, as Muslims do, that Jesus was a great prophet that died in his sleep: they do not think He is God ; they do not believe in our Triune God.
Nope, Mormons believe Jesus died on the Cross the same way Catholics do (and other Christian sects). They also believe he rose from the dead on Easter Sunday three days later...
Where the difference comes in is Mormons believe Jesus then hightailed it to the Americas afterwards and also appeared to some Hebrews who'd managed a tricky ocean voyage here some 600 years earlier as Jerusalem was being sacked.
There's no evidence for any these events except in the case of Jesus rising from the dead. That one amounts to hearsay claims written a hundred or so years later (the reference in Josephus is clearly a forgery; there's no way an Orthodox Jew would make only a modest reference to the Messiah, and it would've been heresy for him to do so in the first place).
And modern scientists, anthropologists, archaeologists, and geneticists, have found no evidence of Hebrews in this hemisphere, either.
Thus: Q: What's the difference between the New Testament and the Book of Mormon?
A: With the New Testament they can't find the body. With the Book of Mormon they can't find the DNA.
You may add to that, the LDS believe in multiple GOD's - plural, not a singular omnipotent God. LDS will refer to Jesus as God, but the reference really is one of the Gods and/or one God of many. look up King Follett Discourse if you wish to know more.
"Dr. Robert Jeffress, senior baptist pastor of a Texas megachurch says Mormons are not Christians. That's slightly softer language than before. He's the same guy who previously called Mormonism a "cult.""
Yet this guy will turn his back on his proclaimed "Christianity" his very "salvation" to vote for a guy he believes in his heart is a leader in a known cult…
Dr. Robert Jeffress would BETRAY HIS OWN CHRISTIANITY…
RATHER THAN VOTING FOR A CHRISTIAN PRESIDENT!
Now "THAT" SAYS IT ALL ABOUT THE RELIGIOSITY OF REPUBLICAN BIGOTRY.
To Whom It May Concern:
For the record, the BIBLE is the “reference book” needed when determining what Is… and what Is NOT a Church...(not the dictionary).
Beyond that, studying that Bible would be required before one could proclaim to actually know the difference.
Additionally, after one has spent her or his life actually in the quest of learning what the ‘Word of God‘ teaches, it wouldn’t hurt, if that person took the time to also study some church history before she or he publicly declared knowing all about it.
