Today, Karen Handel resigned from her post as senior vice president for public policy at the Komen Foundation. Some believe she was the driving force behind the Komen Foundation's decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood — a decision the charity later reversed last week after public protest.
In her statement, Handel maintained that ending funding to Planned Parenthood was the right decision, writing, "I am deeply disappointed by the gross mischaracterizations of the strategy, its rationale, and my involvement in it. I openly acknowledge my role in the matter and continue to believe our decision was the best one for Komen's future and the women we serve."
Regardless of where you stand on the issue, this fact remains: breast cancer is real. Thousands of women are fighting for their lives and hoping a cure will be found soon. I have to disagree with Lawrence O'Donnell. I don't think Komen for the Cure has to reveal every detail of their misstep, nor should they. Handel was the lightening rod and she's out. It's time for everyone to cool down.
I am left in shock and awe from this video that speaks so much truth concerning the scourge of the earth, breast cancer. Extremely glad that this, political she devil, Karen Handel, has resigned from the Komen Foundation. However, the harm has been done! Although I had a taxable income of approximately $9.000 last year, I sent a $35 donation to Planned Parenthood so that my six sisters and women all over America of every sort/shape/size/religion can continue to relay on the non-political help they get from Planned Parenthood concerning the monster of diseases, CANCER! QUICO!
