Newt Gingrich's campaign released a new ad highlighting a controversial moment from last night's GOP presidential debate that earned the former House speaker a standing ovation from the South Carolina crowd.
Titled "The Moment," the bit shows Gingrich's icy response to a question from moderator Juan Williams.
The Fox News commentator questioned, "Speaker Gingrich, you recently said black Americans should demand jobs, not food stamps. You also said poor kids lack a strong work ethic and proposed having them work as janitors in their schools. Can't you see that this is viewed, at a minimum, as insulting to all Americans, but particularly to black Americans?"
Gingrich did not see it that way, oh no, and the crowd went wild. He nicknamed President Obama "the food stamp president," a claim he has made repeatedly despite major criticism of its racial undertones.
The video touts Gingrich as the only guy who can defeat President Obama in November. This comes at a time when the Republican establishment is increasingly leaning toward a Romney candidacy. The ad, however, never mentions Romney directly, but rather attempts to highlight the former speaker's emotional connection to the Republican base.

Newt is dangerous to Romney just as Trump is to Obama.
Maybe if Bush & his cronies hadn't gotten us into this mess, so many people wouldn't need foodstamps........ Newt is a fool and the more he talks, the more he confirms it.
The most disturbing thing about all of the GOP candidates is that they all profess to be Christians. Everything they do is directly opposite of what the Bible says. Newt says President Obama has put more people on Food Stamps but, that is due to the obstructionist mentality of his party.
They are anti-abortionist but they do everything they can to starve the child after it's born. The problem with Newt's philosophy about giving the poor jobs is that they shouldn't aspire to be anything more than janitors. Heaven help them if too many minority s apply for the well paying jobs then the tea party feel entitled too. We are deemed unqualified and any laws to equal the playing floor are removed.
It doesn't matter to the GOP if you have a Harvard degree if you are a minority, you will always be a thug in their eyes. Just ask Pres. Obama!
Newt should take a look at himself in a mirror. This man is a fat slob! He needs to worry about what he is eating and not what poor kids, the elderly and the disabled are eating. What kind of jobs would he have two year olds do, or 90 year olds or people in wheel chairs do, out of many examples I could give? This man is heartless and cruel and has no compassion for the less fortunate among us. He claims to be a Christian? Obviously he does'nt believe in the words of Jesus or the Bible. Newt is hate filled. He only cares about Newt. I spent 20 years working in Human Services. I am so sick of listening to the republican lies. Oh, that right. The Bible says "Do not Lie". Guess Newt does'nt agree. Special rules for Newt. Puke!!
Newt is a bigotted racist fool! Black folks, other minorites, and reasonable people better register and get out to vote. Folks like ZNewt, Romney, Santorum, and Perry are dangerous. Wake up people! Re-elect President Obama 2012!
Newt was commenting on an early article about being allowed (but denied) to speak at the NAACP about 'Black' unemployment. Leave it to MSNBC to screw the whole story up to make Newt look like a racist when he was just trying to give solutions to the 43% unemployment level of 'Black' teenagers.
By the responses here it seems you all want to listen to one side of the story without even giving the other side to speak.....wow....once again you all prove your lack of understanding of the bigger issue....Barack H. Obama has been a failure of a President on so many levels, but the worst is Obama has been the greatest divider of the races in America in the modern era.
The insight of noted historian Newt Gingrich is truly amazing. He combines the wisdom of Martin Luther with the ideas of well known social engineers of the 20th Century. To paraphrase Martin Luther: “I commend putting a broom, a mop, a sponge, a scrub brush, or a toilet plunger into the hands of young, strong, poor boys and girls and letting them earn their bread in the sweat of their brow, as was imposed on the children of Adam.”
Speaker Gingrich clearly sees that the true cause of the present chasm between the rich and poor is not a result of the corruption of the financial systems, the ownership of our government by corporate special interest groups, or the corruption of our highest courts. No – he understands what the real problem is. Instead of being given additional tutoring after school to prepare them for college, instead of being given merit based scholarships, poor children need to learn to work for 1/10 of a living wage cleaning up the excrement and urine of the wealthy. One can see the logic in this – wealthy children obviously understand the value of work since their parents are wealthy. These deservingly fortunate children have an opportunity to observe the hard work of their maids, the ironing girl, the gardener, the yard boy and the cook. Poor children on the other hand do not understand the value of work since their parents cannot afford servants to provide such examples. I have no doubt that if Speaker Gingrich is elected president he will not rest until all poor children in America are set free from their bondage of poverty by the virtues of hard work.
Remember Newt is a student of history – he knows these words well:
Work makes you free.
