I'm rooting for Perry. He's the easiest to beat. Then Gingrich. Then Santorum. Then Romney. Jon Huntsman is someone I "might" vote for; thereore, I'm not rooting for him.
And of course Paul has you frightened because he exposes Obama for the socialist warmonger he is.
There we go with the "Obams socialist" crap. I've ask 4 righties that say the same crap what are these Obama socialist programs you keep refering to? NONE have answered. AHCA is buying insurance from PRIVATE companies. No socialism there. Social Security was began under a Republican President and paid for out of every pay check. Medicare is paid out of every pay check AND monthly premium payments. No socialism there.
No surprising results from that GOP primary. Even the speech of the victor is predictable. Lots of cliches filled with red meat ingredients tossed with salad to the base using that teleprompter. And you're fired.
Right-wingers like to throw around the "Socialist" label quite liberally. The more panicky the Republicans get, the more they insist that President Obama is a socialist -- yet they won't say how they reached that conclusion. In reality, socialism has always been a solid part of America. Under Socialism, people collectively pay taxes to cover the costs of things needed for the common good -- schools, fire depts, a military, libraries, paved roads, parks, government itself. I heard Romney call Obama a "welfare president, " which makes no sense, since he didn't enact any welfare policies. Indeed, our greatest welfare presidents were both Republicans -- Eisenhower and Nixon. Eisenhower laid the groundwork for modern welfare programs, not out of compassion, but out of the knowledge that this would significantly benefit the country (as, in fact, it did, contrary to popular thought). Nixon did much to increase welfare benefits and programs which gave the poor enough financial stability to pursue skills training/work. That, too, was very successful, as the great majority of welfare families were able to become self-supporting within 5 years. I never heard either president condemned for being socialist. By contrast, Obama has not enacted a single welfare program or benefit.
As for who gets welfare today, remember that since Reagan, the US Treasury has lost several TRILLION dollars to tax cuts/handouts to corporation and the richest few. Republicans talk about shrinking govt down to the size where it can be drowned in a bathtub. When you drown something, you destroy it. So Republicans are saying that they want to destroy the US govt. That's patriotism?
The most expensive "welfare" recipiants are CORPORATIONS. But I doubt you'll ever get a rightie to say that's welfare. Just like "you can't raise taxes on the job creaters". IF the top 1% were "job creaters" after 10 years of the lowest taxes, we would have 2 jobs for every person in this country. They create jobs in foriegn countries.
just for laughs category - Romney's father was on his way to be inaugurated as governor of Michigan when his American Motors vehicle broke down and he had to bum a ride in a Chevy. Keep in mind he was chairman of AM's board.
Obama's takeover of the American auto industry is so breathtaking in scope and power that it proves all the RNC's accusations about socialism. The takeover was followed by orders to close 789 local Chrysler dealers, notices to 1,100 General Motors franchises that they will be shut down by next year and estimates that total dealer shutdowns will rise to 3,000.
Some of these local dealerships have been family-owned for generations. The Chrysler and GM dealership closings are estimated to eliminate 187,000 jobs, which is more than the number of people who work for the two automakers.
Now we can see the icing on the cake for the politicians who use economic dictatorship to punish those who resist socialist planners. Nearly every one of the closed local dealerships had donated to Republican candidates, almost none was an Obama contributor, and some dealerships owned by Democrats are not getting the ax.
These closings come after Obama's extraordinary cash and stock favoritism to one of his principal campaign supporters, the United Auto Workers union. The car czar, Steve Rattner, was a top Democratic fundraiser (surprise, surprise!).
Obama seems to be captivated by the un-American notion of running the country through Russian-style czars empowered to issue czarist-style ukases. He has already named about 20 czars (more than the Russians had over four centuries), and his latest is a cyber czar.
The people's president is having a fund raiser tonight in Chicago. All his supporters are invited to have a bite and soak up some of that community organizer wisdom. Tickets are only $35,000.00. Don't get excited, that's for TWO people not one.
