A hilarious new web video takes on the media's collective obsession with residents of the Hawkeye State. In "Iowa Nice," local TV host Scott Siepker challenges the stereotypical soften-spoken conservative demeanor of this crop of Midwesterners and its controversial influence on the electoral process.
The video opens in a very not nice way, "So I hear you think you know something about Iowa? F*#$ you! You heard we're a bunch of knee-jerk conservative reactionaries. I guess that's why we went democratic in five out of the last six presidential elections."
He notes that Iowa legalized gay marriage before most states and it boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates around. And my favorite part, probably because I'm originally from Iowa, Siepker chows down on angel food cake — a favorite Iowa delicacy, only second in awesomeness to "salads" consisting of either a Cool Whip or mayonnaise base (Just ask Rick Santorum).
Siepker reminds the world while "it takes a fleet of tricked out machines and [bleep] of ag science to make it all work," not everyone is a farmer or a hillbilly. He invites the "flyovers" to at least wave — they'll even wave back. Because they're "nice."

About this I know nothing. Iowa nice can mean anything. The way I see it we are giving to much attention to Iowa. i would just stop that BS.
Glad Lawrence is back. I too remain way annoyed by people pushing the meaning of Iowa on me. Rick Santorum? Gingrich? Ron Paul? Romney? Bachmann? Perry? I have so tired of watching the so-called news on this so-called cast of characters that I have resorted to watching Twilight Zone re-runs in black and white. However, it was fun to see people in the Iowa coffee shop applaud on Chris Matthews' show when asked if they were Obama supporters, and I hope to see Barney Frank frequently on msnbc since he is a gas.
Indeed, I've reached the limits of caring about Iowa, and it seems it has been going on so long as if unlimited, limitless, infinite...boundless, and...unending. Not to mention faltering, hobbled, skulking and structurally unsound, duplicitous, and flimsy.
Sorry--wordsmith :>)
Thanks for having John Heilemann from New York Magazine on the show tonight. I think he is awseome--well-spoken, well-meaning, with comprehensive observations, --able to risk an opinion and deduce situations assuredly. I should start a we have a crush on John Heilemann website...hah hah. Not a girl crush--just a compliment!! Great guest, always. I think he holds his own so well in discourse.
Caucus is worthless. Don't these States know how to vote with ballots? I sure in the he** don't want to stand in a room for hours on end just to get counted. Thank God Indiana don't have caucus.
...apparently Indiana doesn't offer grammar classes either.
Iowans take the responsibility of Caucus night very seriously. It is truly grass roots democracy in action and I am very proud to be able to play my part in it!
I'm already so over the Republican primary race that I didn't even watch my favs - Maddow & O'Donnell last night. I never miss them, without fail. That's how much I am tired of this.
WAIVE??? Oh, Sarah! I think you meant WAVE.
Interesting. It's nice to learn some more about Iowa and clearing some misconceptions.
More on the first computer -debatable- being invented in Iowa.
I am delighted that someone finally put Iowa in another light. My sister used to live there years ago and she stated the Iowa citizens were the most pleasant people on earth and were very genuine.
I have hated Michelle Backmann since the first debate, all she talked about was Obama Care,& how she would rip it up. Well I wonder if that Bitch has insurance coverage on her self and her dozen kids? If so she can afford it, with Obama care we will all soon have health care and will be able to afford it. I was praying she would come in last, because of her stand on Obama care, she proves she don't care, she never once said how she would help people with no coverage...Congratulations on your LOSS I love it!!! Loretah
I have hated Michelle Bauchmann since the first debate, all she talked about was how she would repeal Obama Care. Does that Bitch have insurance on her self and her several kids? How can she afford it? What about all the other people that do not have insurance? She never once said how she would help them. I'm very happy she came in last, I also hope she looses her health care so she knows how real Americans feel. Someday maybe Obama care will kick in and every one can have health care they can afford. Congratulations Michelle on your LOSS, it could not have happened to a more deserving person.....Loretah
