Ginger White said Thursday she was "deeply sorry" for any pain she might have caused Gloria Cain or her family. The Atlanta woman, who alleged carrying on a 13-year affair with presidential candidate Herman Cain, made the apology during an exclusive interview with MSNBC's Lawrence O’Donnell.
"My heart bleeds for this woman because I am a woman and being in a situation like this cannot be fun. And I am deeply, deeply sorry if I have caused any hurt to her and to his kids, to his family," said White, a mother of two. "I never wanted to hurt anyone and I'm deeply sorry."
When initially asked if she had a message for Cain's wife, she replied "no comment." White said that's the first time she was ever asked that question, and it took her "aback."
White described Cain as an "intelligent" and "fun-loving" guy, and said their relationship offered her a "getaway" from the normal "hustle and bustle" of daily life. "It wasn't a love affair. It was a sexual affair," she clarified.
According to White, the presidential candidate gave her cash payments during their relationship, though she declined to give the exact amount to MSNBC.
White also said she did not take any money to come forward with her story. "This has never been political," she said. "This has been a very, very difficult situation for me, for my family, his family. It's been very tough."
In an interview with New Hampshire's Union Leader on Thursday, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO acknowledged sending White money for "month-to-month bills and expenses." He also said his wife was not aware of this "friendship."
White insisted she is telling the truth about the sexual relationship with Cain and revealed phone records from communication with Cain over the past few months.
Their relationship began in Louisville, Kentucky back in the late 1990s.

I would have liked Lawrence to more fully explore why she chose to make this story public at this time. I know she said someone had leaked the information and that the press was closing in on her, but I think there could have been a few more questions asked about her motivation. I don't understand why she would put herself through what she must have known would be a difficult ordeal. Perhaps she felt it would be easier on her if she controlled the story more by coming out, but I would have liked to have heard her say that. Is it possible that she gave HC an ultimatum: give me more money or I'll go public? Don't know - just asking.
@aniccaman -- If you listened to the 'whole' interview you would have known that Ms. White was 'Outed' by 'leaks' to the a local newspaper and the newspaper was going to run a story with or without her permission, so she decided to come 'out'.
Dug - If you read my "whole" post you would have known that I acknowleged that point. I just think he could have dug a little deeper. My sense is that there was more to be revealed.
White stated earlier that she was also motivated to come out now in defense of the other four women accusers because of Cain's dismissive and derogatory tone towards them.

This has to be one of the only 'objective' journalistic interviews that I have ever seen from Mr. O'Donnell, most of his 'stuff' is 'yellow journalism' in support of 'progressive propaganda....but I [I'm not an O'Donnell fan] must give Lawrence some 'prompts' for an excellent interview!
Ms. White came across as being 'truthful' and creditable during the whole interview, which means 'The Star Spangled Man With The 999 Plan' has being lying to the American People and should stop campaigning for President starting Monday because Republicans have higher moral standards than democrats and most registered Republicans will not support a liar [democrats supported 'Bubba'] like Cain. It's sad because I would really like to see the country go from its first Black Socialist President to its first Black Republican President in 4 short years...only in America! But alas this is not to happen, but at least I can look forward to the Newt vs Barack 'Lincoln Style Debates'.

Ms. White clearly had some sort of motivation to allege this affair in a public forum. Glad to help. But please, for your own sake. Do a little research of your own and don't take my word for it. It is troubling to me that so many people are so ill informed about our current political climate. It is your vote. You should take a few moments to understand exactly who or what you are voting for.
I despise the Republican right. Especially the mindless christian arm of it. A lot of the reason for that is this very issue. They spout a lot of vitriolic rhetoric they have heard repeated on some tv show and they never bother to really understand anything. They are pro life but are often pro death penalty. Is life in the womb more sacred than the life of someone who has broken the law ? They are anti Homosexual but if you read the actual chapter of Exodus in the christian bible, there are a lot of ridiculous things said in that same context. Are you going to take all of it literally ? I am so tired of intolerant ignorance and hypocrisy. If you are going to choose to have a belief like this, then at least know exactly what it is you believe in.
I think that if more people would educate themselves instead of being spoon-fed snarky garbage from sources that do have an agenda that is not in their best interests, the awful divide in our culture would not be so severe.
Just to pre- empt the storm of nastiness that will follow this, I want to say that I am an adult straight female. I have made my life choices and I see no reason why others should not be allowed to do the same.
As far as the candidates that are running for office here , it seems to me that people that are overly concerned with everyone else's morality such as the republicans are would be rather appalled. Newt cheated on his sick, cancer stricken wife. Cain broke the law and told desperate women the only way he would get them a job is if they serviced him sexually. How is it that these people fit into the republican core values in any way ? If you people really are the "moral majority " then why cant you find a candidate that is able to project your own stated values ?
I am relieved governor Christie decided not to run . Now I can be sure that President Obama will return to office and the US government will not become a theocracy.

I dont like Cain at all or any of the Republican candidates for that matter, but what he did wrong was not simply admit to the affair, same mistake the Clinton made. You got caught with your pants down, but who really cares? This is a problem between him and his wife and does not effect his ability to do the job as President.... Extramarital affairs are a reality among all people from all economic, social, racial, and POLITICAL groups. Rich, poor, black, white, Asian, man, woman, gay, straight, republican, democrat, independents Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists etc are all subject to bad relationships and bad personal judgement, but at the end of the day does that make them unable to be politicians, come on... most of these guys were lawyers. Does it really affect their ability to represent their constituents when in fact most of their constituents have done the same? obviously the sexual harassment and subsequent payoffs are a bit different, but as for the affair, if he was the best choice, I would still vote for him. If Clinton could run again, I would vote for him too...

Well said bobthai. I would vote for Clinton in a heart beat again. With that said, ones' personal moral choices in life does not = unable to do a job well. We need to separate the personal life from the professional life, and although them seem to overlap at times, there are some things that by nature are kept separate.
For example, a man that runs his company, and very successfully I might add with a firm hand, may be known to communicate in a fashion bordering on insulting. The expectation is, he does not go home to his wife and children and communicate with them in the same fashion.
We have the lousiest pool of candidates for President I have ever seen. None has the charisma, presence, or intelligence enough to run a company, let alone lead the greatest nation this world had ever seen. Mitt has the charisma but that's it. Everyone else..boo! As for "Mr. Forgetful"...what a joke!
Folks, unless someone else jumps into the race, Obama remains the best option on all levels. He was "green" when he got into office, made some mistakes because of lack of experience (that's why I wanted Hilary), and trust me, has learned from many of them but cannot admit to it in public.
I am certain his second term will be outstanding. Any world leader that proposes the IDEA of sitting down with lunatics like Ahmadinajad or however it is spelled, for a resolution on world peace and stopping the nuclear craziness, is worth it to me.
Obama was hoping to deal with things on a humanistic level. He though he was dealing with humans, only to discover he was dealing with wolves instead whose only intent from the get go was to get "the black man" out of the "white house."
I would vote for Clinton again too. I was wanting to vote for Hillary, but it was not to be. I wonder what shape the country would be in if she was in there. Or would the Repubs be just as obstructionist with her?
