Herman Cain's got tight bonds with the Koch brothers and he's not afraid to say so. Today, the embattled presidential candidate called himself their "brother from another mother." For real, he said that.
"Just so I can clarify this for the media, this may be a breaking news announcement for the media: I am the Koch brothers' brother from another mother," Cain said during a speech at a Americans for Prosperity event in Washington, D.C. "Yes. I'm their brother from another mother! And proud of it!"
Charles and David Koch have poured massive amounts of money into conservative causes over the years. And they are widely credited with funding the rise of the tea party movement.
This public bromance declaration came after the watchdog group CREW, the Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington, filed a legal complaint against the Cain campaign with the Federal Election Commission on Friday.
CREW claims Cain's campaign manager, Mark Block (the smoking guy in that weird video) violated election laws by using $40,000 from a non profit group founded by Block to pay for incidentals on the campaign trail.

Refreshing; A Political candidate who is not afraid to speak from his heart. Take head, this is why he is winning. He is not a career politician and that is a PLUS!!!!!!
So ... a candidate with a tax plan plagiarized from a video game that makes fun of our international allies and harasses women is going to win the Republican primary?
Nice heads up. Thanks.
as long as he is NOT a career politician, crackhead.
nothing else matters.
Common haters, lighten up it's the weekend.
kurt,
you are the one calling us haters.
perhaps you are the one who should "lighten up".
I am doing great Suzette. Thanks for asking. I hope you are having a great weekend:)
You mean like Bush? Worked out great for the country! Just ask the families of the thousands of soldiers killed in Iraq how refreshed they feel.
I certainly hope your candidate make it through your nominating process and is your candidate in the general election.
Ditto.
Maybe we will start hearing him quote things from Grand Theft Auto if he stays in the media long enough.
ROFL!
He is a minstrel show that is rapidly loosing his appeal even to those who enjoy such entertainment.
I don't 'get it', what's wrong with the Koch Brothers? Have they committed Murder or worse profess to be 'Conservative'?
Dug,
You obviously have a computer do some research. Who are the Koch brothers really.
He asks that same uninformed question throughout this and other blogs I am inclined to ignore such asinine buffoonery.
Didn't Cain say a few weeks ago that he did not know the Koch brothers? And now he is one of them? This guy is all over the place...
The Koch brothers are billionaires funding the Republican party in order to have their own interest served. In fact, the control the GOP because of their huge donations. They want to get rid of all legislation related to corporations and want lower income and capital gain tax rates for corporations. They are also funding Ohio's war against unions. Their corporations have been fined numerous times for illegal pratices (namely pollution issues). Their only goal is to get richer at the expense of the middle and lower class. They are what Occupy WallStreet is denouncing.
Let's just say that I am not a big fan...
Driving that train, high on KochCain!!!
Kurt-
Sure, Cain's refreshing in an entertaining kinda way but shouldn't we as Americans, democrat or republican, demand a little more from our potential leaders? I don't mind that Mr. Cain is unpolished in his presentation. I don't mind that he quotes Pokemon as poetry. But I do get a little worried when a candidate for the Presidency of the United States isn't aware that China already has nukes or that he's completely unaware of the term "right of return" when used in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, one of this planets most intractable diplomatic problems. C'mon Kurt, let's demand more from our leaders than Pokemon Poetry and SimCity tax plans. What do ya say?
GA Girl- Amen sister!
And finally......Dug
Dug, Dug, Dug. There is nothing wrong with the Koch brothers and nothing wrong with being conservative. Being able to voice your opinion and advocate for the cause of your choice is one of this country's greatest assets. Another great asset is the right to vote. One man (woman), one vote. The power I have to effect change in this democracy is my one vote and, as long as everyone gets one vote each, then we can all have an equal effect on the political process. Sounds great, but wait. What if we allow unlimited sums of money into the political process so that people like the Koch brothers (and others) can, all on their own, buy crap loads of air time to run extensive ad campaigns, to conduct opinion polls and put together focus groups so they can conduct research to find out exactly what you need to hear to get you to use your vote the way they want you to? What then Dug? Do you honestly think this is a good thing? Sure, it takes money to run a modern political campaign so, donate some money to the politician and or cause of your choice.....but there should be limits! Otherwise, too much power concentrates in the the hands of too few and we no longer have our democracy. It's really that simple. I know it. Now you know it. And of course, the Koch brothers know it too.
Tod
A "Koch's brothers' brother?" I thought Herman Cain was Black? He sure isn't from the Bronx, Loisaida, Eastlos, across the tracks or from one of the many,"soul spots" of this beautiful country. He's either saying that he is White like the Koches', Black/White like President Obama or that he doesn't know who he is! Like all leading Republican candidates on this tour, he would say anything coached to him to get elected. However, I believe that Herman Cain can make a formidable candidate against President Obama. He could possibly split the Black, Latino vote/enjoin the Republican and Tea Party goes/attract massive amounts of money/make elections a "soulful" thing/attractively, trash the language of politics/confuse the electorate/buy votes by giving out free pizzas/etc. Herman Cain, a Koch your not/never will be/never will be their brother. But you can be used by them as a vehicle to put America in their pockets! Don't do it Brother! QUICO!
Cain would NOT split the Black vote ! We see him for the fraud he truly is.
So Herman Cain believes that he's a winner;
He'll show Obama where to find the door!
I'd have to say this man's a greedy sinner
Who's 'simple' tax plan devastates the poor.
He likes to view himself as the 'Godfather'
And killing illegal aliens as a 'joke'.
The jobless of the nation aren't worth the bother
His basic loyalties lie with the Brothers Koch.
His sales tax would only apply to what is new,
So let's see him recycle someone's dinner.
And meanwhile taxes plummet for the few
who'd buy the presidency for this 'winner'
Electing this man to high office is the jest;
The world would laugh at who we'd pick as 'best'..
Hermann Cain's mother is probably rolling over in her grave. Why do this man continue to make stupid statements?
The thing that you have to ask is, why are the Koch brothers backing Herman
Cain? You think they would be backing Ron Paul if anyone. Cain is not only
completely unqualified for the position as president, but miles in over his head
as a republican candidate. My conclusion is the Koch brothers are looking
to place puppets in various government positions. Or people they can easily
control, in order to take over the country and then the world. I am serious
about this conspiracy theory; I think these guys are a monocle and white cat
away from being James Bond super villains.
