First it getting all birthery was “fun,” and now Rick Perry says it's a "distraction."
"That is one of the biggest distractions that there is going," Perry said at a press conference this afternoon, pumping his 20-20 flat tax plan. "We need to be talking about jobs. If somebody wants to see my birth certificate, I'd be happy to show it to them. But the fact is that is a distraction and Americans really don't care about that, if you wanna know the truth."
Rick Perry floated the birther conspiracies in recent days purely for his own amusement.
In an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood that aired earlier today, he said "It's a good issue to keep alive. It's fun to poke at him.” Later he added, “I’m really not worried about the president's birth certificate.” He’s a barrel full of laughs, that one.
Perry fanned the crazy flames over the weekend, telling PARADE Mag he didn’t “have a definitive answer” on whether he believed the president was born in the United States.
Bringing back birtherism from the dead and his new flat tax proposal boosted the Texas governor back into the spotlight.
A newly released CBS/New York Times poll shows Perry lagging behind in fifth place behind Herman Cain, Willard M. Romney, Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich.

Abandon Ship! It's sinking fast!
About the flat tax. That is tax without representation. Those who will benefit the most are those who are represented the most in the legislature. I will stop paying taxes and let those who are represented the most pay their salaries. How many Americans would stop paying their taxes. At least Bachman says she does not want us to pay any taxes. I am with her.
Yeah that post card the Texas CONservative kept flashing around with this flat tax idea. Anyone else notice it's about the size of the tag old folks will get tied to their toe, when they have died after funding for Medicare goes to the fat cats in tax cuts.
Yeah, sinking like a rock. Yet another embarrassment to Texas.
What I learned back in elementary school was that you can't run for president if you aren't a citizen -- and they don't just take anyone's word for it. It must be proved before you can file. When you run for political office, you are thoroughly checked to make certain you qualify. From the start, your records and history will be examined in detail, everything double-checked and confirmed. Your party and the party of your opponent both do this, going through your records with the proverbial fine-toothed comb. Remember that legislators have access to every candidate's complete records. Had there been ANYTHING to cast doubt on Barack Obama's citizenship, it would have been found and brought out long before election night. Maybe someone needs to explain (to the TPers) the process of qualifying for political office in the US.
Would it be seen as 'Just Teasing' or 'Poking Fun at him' to suggest that Perry might be involved in OVERT Racism (Klan membership), or even worse... say...child molesting? Of Course Not! It would be seen as outright slander, and rightly so! Obviously no reasonable person would believe things like that, but the last few years have shown us all just how many people out there are NOT 'Reasonable'!
So Perry is building us a stairway to heaven with his Forbes 20/20 tax plan.Thousand's of comedian's are out of work and here's Perry trying to steal their job's.
Rick said he had a visit with the Donnald. Another idiot who thinks Americans love the Donnald. I wonder what kind of expert the Donnald would be. I know he used th eminent domain law to acquire NY property leaving all those who lived in those without a home. He is the creator of homelessness in the US.
Distraction...kind of like what you have become Mr. Perry. Your comments about I like to poke the president on his birther thing is not funny, relevant or a wise political move. For you to align yourself with Mr. Trump shows signs of desperation. Remember how this president took him to task at the Writers Association Meeting? Also Mr. Forbes tried this tax plan in the past and it didn't fly so you seem to be attaching your hopes on faded stars and ideas.
@Pat,
i understand why perry is pissed that his grades were released, they aren't very good. like a little boy, he thinks that because he was embarassed over his grades, that the birthers should continue to question Barack Obama's birth certificate.
even those who know that our President is a citizen love this "birther issue". its just another way for them to position our president as "elite", "not good enough", and outsider.
i will never forget how President Obama called out donald trump. the look on trump's face said it all.
How much longer before MSLSD pulls the plug on this azz holes crappy show??
Here's a thought..Go back to Fixed news where you belong with the rest of the 'intellectual' reichwingnuts.
We have a problem with companies making lame remarks that they cant find quilified help. The high cost of going to college to learn most jobs isnt needed.Thats just another lame remark to send our jobs to other countries. After high school i joined a apprenticeship program, where on the job training is the best.It not only fills jobs right away, you can mold your employees to get the most out of them for your company. The way my apprenticeship worked was a 4 yr apprenticeship. The 1st yr you got payed 40% of a journeymans wage.2nd 50%,3rd 65%,and 4th 85%,along with the on the job training we attended unpaid class for 4hrs a night,1 night a week doing book work or hands on training. Please copy and paste this idea where it can be seen everywhere, before more jobs leave the country under false remarks by employers wanting cheap labor !!!Thank You
A good percentage of the U.S. east coast believes people in Hawaii lives in huts and theĀ islandĀ have no buses. What makes them think they know how a Hawaiian birth certificate looks like? Donald Trump going with other people think or say the birth certificate is fake, give it a rest.
