People are starting to catch on to the fact Herman Cain's 999 plan translates to the majority of Americans paying more in taxes. Who will pay more specifically? We crunched the numbers on two hypothetical families: A family of four making $50,000 per year — married, filing jointly, with two dependent children — and a similar type of family making $1 million per year. Ultimately, the family making $50k would pay $5,000 more in taxes. And the family making a cool mill would pay $144,000 less in taxes. No wonder Donald Trump digs the idea.

MSNBC's Chinese Math. I thought Libs wanted to pay more taxes? What's the problem?
Under Cain's 9-9-9 Plan, based on analysis from the Tax Policy center:
Those who are making $10K or less, his plan would raise their taxes by $1600
It would would raise taxes overall on the middle class by over $3,000
It would LOWER taxes for the top 1% by over $300,000
And for the top .1% (making $8M or more a year), it would LOWER their taxes by $1.6 million
I guess Cain is your man if you don't make much and want to pay MORE in taxes.
KMG, show the calculations. That $10,000 person's mandatory tax obligation is $900.00, How did they calculate the other $700 ?
KMG,
kurt thinks that cain will be the last man standing.
right kurt?
Just when you think the Tea Party cannot grow any more shallow or produce another outrageous blowhard, Herman Cain shows up.
Kurt "libs" don't have a problem paying our fair share of taxes. Seems like cons have no problem with wealth redistribution when it's coming from the poor..but God forbid they be asked to give anything.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
well said, shoegal.
@Curt. You know, math is the same no matter what language is spoken.
What you libs don't do is show the calculations. The 9% that corporations pay, are not paid by the American Public. So that takes away 4500 from the 13,500, which leaves 9,000, which is the most the tax payers will pay. The mandatory flat 9% is $4500.
Now the Tax payer has control of the other $4500 They do not have to buy goods and services that will equal to 4500 worth of taxes.
Under the current tax rate that family has a mandatory obligation of $8400. $3900 more then the 999's mandatory plan.
I would rather have more control of my money.
Certainly you are free to not buy food or medicine. In fact, Darwinism would indicate that the world would be better off if you didn't!
Calling liberals liberal isn't an epithet, any more than the word 'honkey' actually bothers white people...
Alcoholics Anonymous Republican, you are barely coherent, and your 'calculations' make no sense. What language are you figuring in?
Just make it up as you larry of stupidity.....
When are you going to wear your Che shirt on your TV show???? phucking Communist
UMMM.... So GE, one of the largest global companies, paid no federal taxes last year. So our present system works great doesn't it Lawrence? All of those loopholes that the small business can't get, that the factory worker can't get. No our present system works just great as long as you are friends of the present admin. or have a green job that can lose 1/2 a billion dollars of the US taxpayer money. We have over 50% of Americans that don't pay Federal Taxes (and don't give me the line, "well everyone pays SS taxes", yes they do, we all do - we all pay it) if you enjoy the bounty of this country shouldn't you pay something? Why should one segment pay for everyone else, if everyone paid the same %, wouldn't it be fair.
Our current tax policy is built more for politics first, then revenue generation. We need a flat tax and then we can take loop holes, favoritism etc.. out of the policy, but then what would the politicians do? oh my, what a shame.
CRT Micky, pardon me, your ignorance is showing...
"Just make it up as you larry of stupidity..." What?
You people are so funny. The more incensed you become the less coherent you are.
Don't overlook those states and counties with sales taxes that already exist. Mr. Cain avoids this question because he is afraid to accept the reality of the new compounded tax structure. How?
We do not currently pay a national sales tax in addition to our current income/payroll taxes.
Granted, you already pay income and payroll taxes (social security in which employees only pay 7.65%) but NOT a national sales tax on any purchases. So this would be a tax increase. There is no getting around it! So for Mr. Cain to say you won't see an increase in taxes is a lie!
For the 50,000 household the flat 9% income tax rate equals $4,500 so if the total tax burden is allegedly $13,500 that is a difference of $9,000. If they are attempting to say that this $9,000 is because of the 9% sales tax that would mean that a family that is making $50,000 a year is SPENDING $100,000 a year. Because $9,000 is 9% of $100,000. So who is trying to fool who??? Mr. Cain has a degree in mathematics, maybe whoever did these numbers should get a calculator.
It was an estimate. It wasn't supposed to- What I really mean is-
Wait, someone was listening?
