Talking Points Memo turned our attention today to a new web ad against Elizabeth Warren who is running against incumbent Republican Scott Brown for the Massachusetts Senate seat. The ad, created by the Massachusetts Republican Party, focuses around a statement Warren made in an interview with MSNBC's own Rachel Maddow.
In the interview, Warren said "I have thrown rocks at people that I think are in the wrong." The Massachusetts GOP uses this soundbite to paint Warren as radical, divisive and frankly a little scary! The creepy soundtrack and intense horror-movie edits also help with their message. Take a look.

Being highly educated at a top university is a political liability that your enemies use to smear you with.
Rick Perry brags about finishing 10 out of 13 at Texas A&M.
What kind of country is this?
It's the kind of distortion of facts the GOP love. New word for GOP, distortionist!
I guess they cannot distiguish between the "throw rocks" as in verbal statement, and "throwing rocks" literally. That is how either dumb they are or they are just perpetuating the brainwashing of their base who is as gullible as 4 year olds.
I'm sure there will be equally scary and distorted Democrat Party or liberal cause PAC sourced ads against Scott Brown. Politics is an ugly business, especially on the national level, and little surprises me when it comes to political campaigns, especially when shady PAC's (which may or may not have ties to the party of the opponent in the particular race) become involved!
"In the interview, Warren said "I have thrown rocks at people that I think are in the wrong."
I will continue to support Professor Warren....
I have thrown rock too. I just threw a big one at Cain. By his own admission he has shown to be a parasite of all activist from his youth on. The least he can do is admit that his parents taught him to be a coward and wait until someone bring about the change. If it was up to him, African Americans would still be segregated or would never have learned to read. I can't imagine any of our black fellow citizens can vote for him. What kind of representation could he give to the world about this country's journey to create a better country for all. And what he thinks of the poor is immoral.
She's thrown rocks a people she thinks are in the wrong... what next shooting at people she thinks are in the wrong. What an idiot.
No that's Palin's job.
wrong party, sandie.
republicans are the ones with guns.
Sandie: So you do not know the difference when people use metaphors or similes. Where did you go to school. Go back and get your money back.
sandie: sit down, be quite and be nice. okay lil cutie pie!
I gotta couple of bags of rocks to donate to her. I'm sure her range and aim are better than mine.
I watched the Maddow interview and the rock throwing comment isn't in it, but I am pretty sure that wherever it came from, she was speaking metaphorically not literally. I'm also pretty certain that the soundtrack was modified to make her voice sound more hostile. It just isn't the way she speaks.
I'd like to see a rebuttal video that shows the original clips contrasted with the way they were presented in this ad.
Here's the video Robert.
The problem as I see it is that you have an sincere/learned/heartfelt Democrat running against an armchair thinking/low I.Q./follow the leader Republican who could only spiel dirt because he has no idea of what Democracy is all about! If he studied the facts and not allow himself to be hoodwinked by the Hood Robbing, Klu Klux Klank enemies of Democracy, perhaps he could see the light/add reason to his message/become a super star amongst the people of Massachusetts. The Republican Party needs somebody with a unique message like that of Elizabeth Warren to stand up/be counted/lead the Party in a new direction that would inspire hope/vision dreams/instill vigor in the hearts of all Americans and not just the unreasonably DUMB! QUICO!
I must be missing the point to "Throws Rocks."
I thought it was an attack ad, but if anything, it makes Warren look better. Running the extended clip of her from that viral Warren video is genius - if you're with the Warren campaign.
Heck, I'll taking a senator who throws rocks over a senator who is dumb as a bag or rocks any day.
Repubs, Thanks for the free ad.
Wait......the GOP is running ads showing Warren's best speech? Srsly? I've never seen anything like this.
This makes me all the moe supportive of her. We need some more backbone on the progressive side of the issues. This is a fantastic free ad for Warren.
That was just a horrible ad. Plain and Simple. Are there really people out there who are gullible enough to think she actually threw rocks at people? Wouldn't rock throwing be considered assault?
A hero is always radical, divisive, and scary. And I didn't hear the creepy soundtrack myself!
Have national Republican operatives swooped in and taken over the Mass GOP? Memo to RNC: Massachusetts is not like the rest of the party. The tactics and rhetoric you use in South Carolina will get you laughed out of Boston.
When she threw the rocks, I hope she hit somebody like Cantor, McConnnell, or Boehner... that would do us all good. Those morons need a serious smack; maybe that would wake them up and do something positive for the people they are supposed to represent.
Her face is highly offensive as are her "thoughts".
