Sarah Palin (file)
Sarah Palin finally admitted what we've known for months: she's not running for president, saying "family comes first."
The former Alaska governor made her intentions public this afternoon on the Mark Levin Show.
Levin, a conservative talk radio host, read part of her statement on air. Check out the full text below.
October 5, 2011
Wasilla, AlaskaAfter much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order.
My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office - from the nation's governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the "fundamental transformation" of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.
From the bottom of my heart I thank those who have supported me and defended my record throughout the years, and encouraged me to run for President. Know that by working together we can bring this country back - and as I've always said, one doesn't need a title to help do it.
I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, including in the race for President where our candidates must embrace immediate action toward energy independence through domestic resource developments of conventional energy sources, along with renewables. We must reduce tax burdens and onerous regulations that kill American industry, and our candidates must always push to minimize government to strengthen the economy and allow the private sector to create jobs.
Those will be our priorities so Americans can be confident that a smaller, smarter government that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people can better serve this most exceptional nation.
In the coming weeks I will help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the President, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House.
Thank you again for all your support. Let's unite to restore this country!
God bless America.

thank god she isn't running, but we knew that.
it would have been entertaining to say the least.
Cheech . . . having very little ability to see that there is life in the universe that does not revolve around her . . . I can actually see how she thought that we are all so stupid that we would not get it that she was NEVER going to run for President. It has always been about attention and money for this shallow, selfish woman.
I feel some compassion for the suckers who sent her money to help her NOT run for President . . . shame on you Sarah.
Some family values! I was really hoping for a Perry/Palin ticket!
You're kidding right? A women who screwed around before marriage, talked about how schools shouldn't teach anything about birth control because its the parents responsibility (suppose she had gotten pregnant by that black guy), her daughter gets pregnant, she parades her on stage (If I were Bristol I would have been so embarrassed) she was, didn't you see her trying to hide her stomach and then have the nerve to attack people who noticed Bristol's pregnancy as media dogs who attacked her family. What kind of mother is this? I would never put my daughter on stage in that situation, would you?
Please Palin...who cares? You're a sellout!! Thats not what we need in the Whitehouse or any other Governing position..Stay home!!
No surprise! Thanks for playing GOPers and tea baggers! She was stringing you all along with the hope you'll buy her book, give her cash to speak, and follow her like lemings! Did she getcha? You betcha! LOL!!!
Just another idiot Republican out after your dime.
Finally - some good news to cheer about.
Next we will see all those Sarah Palin PAC contributors joining in occupy(place name here) because she took their money, the same money they eagerly handed over, and she used in any way she felt (without ever actually intending to run) (thanks to various SCOTUS ruling of late) and in a sense - fleeced the stupid sheep.
I wonder if they can seek a refund?
Hopefully her "star power" will fade away, get fired from Fox, become a has been, and next season we will (for those whom actually watch) have to endure her on some reality TV show, like wife swap, or dancing with the stars, or America's Got Talent (you figure out her talent). It sure be worth watching if Simon ripped her a new one.
I wanted to vote for you. I didn't know what to click.
something we already knew, so, PLEASE, Sarah just disappear, you've already made a bundle, which I believe was you plan ever since the end of the 2008 election was decided. Just go away, you have nothing of relevance contribute to US discourse.
Well it is a Blessing she and that cluck from New Jersey realized they didn't have it, and speaking of Blessigns (hope I spell Blessing right) The other day sitting around daydreaming The thought "GOD LET OBAMA GET ELECTED WAS: TO SHOW AMERICA'S REAL HEART, PRAISE THE LORD:
From Huffington Post, June 28, 2011:
Bristol Palin said during an appearance on Tuesday's edition of "Fox & Friends" that her mother "definitely knows" whether or not she will run for president of the United States in the next election cycle.
"We've talked about it before," said the 20-year-old daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. "Some things just need to stay in the family."
Again, that was: June. 28th. 2011.
For all the Palin supporters who were somehow still taking the bait, or worse - who responded to her recent "Plea for donations to help Sarah decide whether she will run or not", here's your sign.
She was never REALLY going to take you upstairs. She just wanted you to pay for dinner.
Please keep in mind that she said she was not running as a GOP candidate for president - not that she wasn't running at all.
Since she couldn't face a press conference to announce this, doubt she'd be interested in the questions she would face as a presidential candidate of any persuasion. One of her supporters at C4P rather pathetically asked if now that Sarah wasn't running, would she just spend their donations or would she return them to the donors.
Where were the words "family comes first", when John McCain called n 2008, when the former Governor had [1] an eldest son headed to a war zone, perhaps to kill or die for his (and our) country, [2] an oldest daughter who was an unwed & under-aged high school student from a religious, 'family values', conservative family, and going to give birth, before the election, to a baby that no-one knew about, yet, [3] 2 relatively average young daughters, and [4] an almost newborn baby, born with Downs Syndrome, who is an adorable child, but also requires far more attention than most newborns?
I always give people credit for being decent human beings, deserving of my respect, until and unless they give me good reason to feel otherwise.
Male or female, mother or father, ANY parent of the family I describe above, who willingly and knowingly chooses to embark on a campaign for National office, which will be a full-time job lasting for several months, has given me a good reason to withdraw any and all respect for I ever had for them, as a politician, a parent, or a human being.
Sarah Palin chose to follow her losing campaign up by resigning her office midterm, to write a book, and then embarked on her 'Look at Me! Look at Me!' national tour; in my opinion, she is a poor excuse for a governor, parent, or decent human being, much less the President of the United States.
Most parents would sacrifice almost everything, including their life, for the sake of their family - She seems willing to sacrifice her family purely to satisfy her own ego.
Everyone would be better off if we all just ignored her back into obscurity.
<end rant>
The singing group, called the temtations, wrote a song called MONEY you should hear it. It says it all and is fitting for a them song for Sara Palin.
er... that was actually the O'Jays. It was actually called "For the Love of Money." A great song, even today. The song was written my Gamble and Huff and released by Philadelphia International Records.
I can't do that. I'll miss her. Herman Cain and Rick Perry are a poor second to Sarah. Sarah, don't go away. I'll miss you. No one can compete with your level of intelligence although Herman Cain and Rick Perry are 2 choices. I'm starting to miss Michelle Bachman. Life is so sad. Who can I turn to for laughter on a regular basis. I like listenening to someone who I can feel intellectually superior. (Should that be whom and should I use aprostrophes)? Is my question mark correct.
Thank God, she finally saw the light. She is not the person who takes her job seriously, she is there to make money for herself.
File this under " No Sh*t Sherlock"
PLEASE stop discussing this woman...she is so irrelevant and transparent that it should be a crime for the amount of ink that is being spilled on the topic that she isn't running...I mean, honestly, who in their right mind was surprised?
I couldn't agree more. What has happened to our news media? Ok, yes, I know... the 24 hour news cycle happened; and now we are stuck with several "all-news-all-the-time" channels that are desperate for content that will keep people tuned in.
Keeping people tuned in has become more important than keeping people informed, and this is the result: Endless speculation about the potential candidacy of a person anyone with any sense already knew was never going to run... same thing with Christie. Hours of coverage of the trial of Michael Jackson's former physician... and other items of questionable relevance, chosen only because the name recognition will keep people tuned in.
It's just so sad, but not as sad, I suppose as the effect this has all had on the country. The need to have something to talk about has forced the media to hype up any hint of conflict we might be able to use to springboard into another pointless discussion. This thing with the word painted on a rock in a camp owned by Perry's family... wtf? Really? Did he paint the rock? I am no fan of Perry, but the focus on this topic is way out of proportion to it's relevance.
I am just so glad that the Occupy Wall street movement has gotten attention. Finally something worth devoting hours of coverage to.. so many people involved with such desperate perspectives, and yet they can all agree to be a part of this movement... THAT is news!
I'll have to admit, I may have underestimated Parah Salin. I thought she was dumb enough to think she had a snowballs chance in a general election.
Thank God we have enough looney toons in the race already there is no more room The comedy roster is too full
On your comment that losing VP nominees never end up as president, you forget FDR who was VP nominee in 1920.
Sarah Palin is no FDR.
Can the media stop giving this idiot attention? She is nothing more than an opportunist, making as much money as she can possibly stuff in her pocketbook. Did you think she would give up that cash cow Fox has created for her? Please media........ turn her off!! The country has seen and heard enough of this jerk!!
