In tonight's Rewrite, Lawrence told you we would give you access to the full clips of this weekend's clash between police officers and Wall Street protesters. The full versions of the clips we showed you tonight are below — but a warning... there is some graphic language used in these videos that you did not hear on our broadcast.

Soon some of these "heroes" will be explaining to their children why Daddy lost his job.
Lawrence being brave. Can't imagine anybody but Rachel covering this. MSM ignores it. This same screaming stuff happened in St Paul MN 3 years ago. MSM totally ignored it, but online news kinda told the real story and they did it again but Lawrence you've got some guts doing this on msnbc. Police can be nice as in the case of Madison WI. They were hand and hand with the protesters. Too bad you've got rogue's who ruin it for everyone. To protect and serve. which usually means the obvious around us. they speed and go thru red lights. But get near one they scare me, especially the Troopers.
You people crying police brutality are obnoxious. If no one wants to get arrested, maybe they shouldn't be crowding the streets causing a disturbance, yelling in the faces of officers, threatening them with "this is going on youtube" or "what's your badge number, you're in trouble." Also, if you don't want to be taken to the ground hard, don't fight it. The NYPD for the most part seems to have done their job correctly. Sorry ya'll want to cause issues. Also, if you want a job, maybe you should go out and look for one instead of giving the NYPD grief.
I'm sorry--it's "obnoxious" to cry police brutality when the police are clearly and evidently being brutal? Well I'm so sorry to have disturbed you with any honesty!!
I don't know how to explain this to you, but people DO have the right to peacefully protest. People also have the right to yell and to voice their opinions--1st Amendment, ever read it?! People also have the right to post their experiences on YouTube. This is a critical part of citizen journalism. People also have the right to ask for an officer's badge number. We, as Americans, have the right to know who is demanding we submit. NONE of this means that peaceful, if vocal, protesters deserve to get assaulted.
It is disgraceful for you to chide people about "not having a job" when employment is over 9%, when there are dozens of applicants for every available job. But please, reassure yourself that it's only their protesting that's the problem, and that by speaking up for oneself one deserves to get assaulted.
Shame on Bloomberg allowing police brutality!
This is not about Police brutality. People don't lose focus. This is about ABUSE OF POWER by government. Government that creates it's own laws without approval of the people. Government engaging in illegal and unconstitutional activity. You do me a favor, I'll do you one. The judicial system is broken. The judges are corrupt. Where are the lawyers of the ACLU??? Where are the Woodward & Bernstein's? They may be out there but DEREGULATION is responsible for taking their FREEDOMS away (and a slew of other things like the creation of corporate monopoly); buried their stories. The internet is the only REAL NEWS port without CENSORSHIP...but it's too fragmented. Maybe Google should come to the rescue - if they aren't part of the "BIG CON" (men and women with suits and ties and lies lies lies) yet.
SO true&Well said but what r we gonna do about it?My children hav no future im ready 2 fight peacefully for Reform!! so where do i signup?
Boycott corporations...be willing to sacrifice with long term (I'm serious-one to two years at minimum) changes in your spending habits...this will not put money in their coffers and it will force corporations to spend down what they are hording...
Think of where YOUR money is spent and don't support any 'Corporations'....shop farmers markets, don't buy foriegn products, put your money in a local credit union, not 'big business corporate banks...
What's wrong with buying foreign products? It's not foreigners that are ruining this country, it's our own people. If anything, buying foreign is better, because it keeps money out of the hands of American corporations and their sociopathic executives, part of which is then given as bribes to our politicians.
Just don't buy products made in foreign countries and marketed by American companies; that's the worst. Either way, the best thing to do is to buy products from SMALL companies, whether they're American or foreign. It's the large corporations that are destroying this place, not the small companies.
@Grish 2. I definitely support you in supporting small business, farmers' markets, et al, but Foreign Companies? Globalization means that companies are intertwined. I don't know of any foreign company that "keeps its hands out of American corporations."
Grish2 - Are you for real?
Buying from foreign companies does NOTHING to help our domestic US economy
I can't believe a TV talking head has finally delivered a commentary on police brutality in America! We Americans have gave up our personal freedoms to be supervised by and assaulted by law enforcement at the drop of a hat, while engaged in lawful activities. Thank God somebody in the Media is paying attention.
Most officers are brutal vile chi;children. It is the truth. It takes sociopath paths and psycho paths mainly to do the job of a police officer. Psychologically they are not far off from the criminal mentality the gang collective mentality that they claim to be against. It is played out day in day out in the "Us against them" ideas they perpetrate as justice... ;]
Cheers
Mowdy5gs sounds like he's writing his posts from inside a penitentiary, haha!
Your generalization of police officers is wrong -
And your comments only make "YOU" look like a psychopath. :/
There are many many statistics to back up MY assertions. Psychological studies, news stories, beatings, cops NEVER or rarely being held accountable for there illegal actions as well as obvious corruptions conflicts of interest day in and day out.
However YOUR generalization about me has no stats at all. None at all. Because yu are wrong on all accounts. Which if I were to generalize about you which I wont. But If I were to do so I would say you might be the at home spouse of a cop. ; ] But again, I am not doing that at all....
Sounds as though your trying to hard. But the world needs triers too.! ;]
Cheers hun.
This is wall street putting pressure on the Mayor to get rid of the crowds and the police are following orders some more passionately then others. Some of the cops in these videos seem to be enjoying the confrontation and provoking it to incite violence from the crowd. I am afraid that one of these over bigilante cops will kill a protestor and then they may get there wish.
Excellent reporting.... now post it everywhere. Please, don't let this story die. I spent 26 years defending this nation and its citizen's rights under the constitution. Please do your part now! Thanks!
Mr. Lawrence O'Donnell thank you for the great story you did on the protesters on Wall Street!!! Keep this story in the mainstream. It's very important! We will be living in a police state if we continue to allow this type of behavior to continue unchecked!! POLICE BRUTALITY = UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
I'm just saying that in some of these videos you can see protesters striking police officers. The police reaction is excessive, but it is illegal to hit a police officer. The woman dragged through the barrier kicked and punched at a cop. The two women maced refused to back up under police order, seem to reach out and grab at a cop, and get maced to subdue them. There is not enough shown before the camera guy is thrown down to know what he actually did to deserve this.
Assuming the police are just trying to beat anyone with a camera is absurd when there are at least 8 cameras visible in that video alone. If they wanted to stop videos from getting out, they would forcibly remove cameras from protesters hands and retain them as evidence. They didn't. You're projecting and it's insulting to everyone's intelligence.
Please, please, PLEASE stay with this story, and let us know specifically the outcome with regard to the ranking officer who is seen spraying, and let us know what the other officers seen in the video report they saw at the time.
here here. be great to get follow on this story.
Great Report!
Does anyone know the tag and/or have the link for the video showing the woman being PULLED from BEHIND THE POLICE BARRIER in order to be brutalized by one of those "big brave men" in white shirts? Thanks!
This is the video on youtube, I'm not sure if it is the one you are asking for.
This is their LiveStream
that happens in the long 11 minute clip about 3:20 in
Mr O'Donnell,
Excellent, excellent, excellent!
It's time the American Citizens understand that police are only people too.
They have the same thoughts, prejudices, faults and flaws as every other human being.
Their Badges and the job GIVES them the Licence to abuse and get away with it.
I have been saying this for YEARS to much ridicule. I feel sorry for those citizen who did nothing wrong but exercise their Constitutional right to a peaceful assembly.
The Police turned it into violence. The Police turned it into violence! They will always look out for their own aberrant people.
Government sanctioned Brutality and the USA ridicules China's Human Rights Violations and record.
I have to agree with Wilberta Berry. An EXCELLENT reporting on this embarrassing yet enraging issue... It needs to stop.
Great job in reporting on these thugs with badges... while at the same time, providing an example of officers doing their job respectfully.
Cudos to you sir!
Bryan Williams on NBC Nightly News tonight said the reason for the brutality was that protesters went outside of the barricades into areas they were not supposed to go. He did not mention any other reason. Sounds like we did not get the whole truth from BW.
@K.Trauber
A picture is worth a thousand words! Video is even more valuable. It's priceless!
Guess I'll be watching ABC or CBS during that 1/2 hour. Shame on Brian :( Knew Tom Brokaw was bad. Which is why Dan Rather was just fine. Brian.....
The police did the right thing, I was an MP in the 70s halting race riots and other crazy things ,I have personnally been involved in many "Rodney King" beatings and if you never have been on the other side of the badge you have nothing to say ! Bleeding Hearts always crying but have never had their boots on the ground in the topics in question
You are so wrong!
"Race Riot" experience, hey Mike? Yeah, you're real tough to figure out. Strangely enough, the men and women "behind the badge" at MY department aren't threatened by and afraid of a bunch of girls holding up camera phones as they stand behind the barriers held up by uniforms. But I DO understand some in NYPD may not have the stones, nerve and training of other departments.
Not only are you wrong, but you are are a disgusting excuse for a public servant. I'm horrified to think that I likely share my community with someone with your attitude - with a pathological lack of both empathy and moral compass. You are, apparently, the reason for the designation, "pig."
You were a disgrace to your badge. However, I keep hearing how awesome the FDNY is being to the protestors. I served my country and I think you are disgusting to wear the violence you afflicted upon others with pride. What if that was your kid?
thats a really bad comparison. MP in the 70's... like all those really bad police brutality video's on actual film we see.
MP in the 70's? Next you'll tell us that you feared for your personal safety while being surrounded by pot smoking malcontents at Kent State!
"I was an MP in the 70s halting race riots and other crazy things"
Oh? And where was the riot here? As Mr. O'Donnell said at the very start of the segment (so you may have already forgotten it): "[...] a fewtroublemakers turned a peaceful protest [...] into a violent burst of chaos. The troublemakers carried pepperspray, and guns, and were wearing badges." Until the police forced the issue, there was no riot, no threat, no danger.
Mike , you are pathetic excuse for law enforcement. This was a legal protest against wallstreet. Thanks for shedding some light onto the kind of person who abuses fellow Americans civil liberties
It's too bad someone didn't kill you while you were in uniform. You would have deserved it.
Shame on you then. Where is your morality, no character you have is decent. I feel sorry for you being so full of hate and fear and you do not belong on any force. These protestors were there for a very nobal cause, and that was to stand up to those thugs on Wall Street and Washington! You are so lost and a coward.A coward dies a thousand deaths... you disgust me.
If you participated in "many Rodney Kings" then you are no better than any of the street punks you arrested. You were a disgrace to your uniform.
mike-4186347 are you a GOP Republican TeaBagger?
'Cuz you sure sound like one w/the crazy fascism you espouse.
If you can watch "60 Minutes" from last night. Great insight as to how Americans are losing their civil rights under the banner of terroism!! You won't believe it! Arrrggghhh!
So disappointed with the NYPD. Watched 60 Minutes Sunday; it was a proud story. I won't feel the same about them again.
To know you're being filmed and still do those things? Dumb or just don't care.
It was appalling!

Not a good day for NYPD.
Thank you, thank you Lawrence O'Donnell for being the first commentator to speak the truth about what is happening on Wall St! We will be out in force in DC on Oct 6th. Help us....Stop the Machine!
I believe in the beating that occured ,I've been involved in many "Rodney King" beatings as an MP in the 70s and if you have never been on the other side of the badge you have nothing to say !!Bleeding hearts have never have had their boots on the ground so when you've been in a riot situation with a badge on then you can talk !!
I've had 'boots on the ground'! I've worked peaceful protests, strikes (in the 70's) and one true riot. You protect life & property...you treat protesters with respect, addressing them as 'ma'am & sir' as you direct them and/or assist them. You DON'T mace them, wrestle them to the ground, fling them into car grills in hopes of destroying their video cameras simply because you're pissed about being assigned to that extra duty that shouldn't amount to much more than babysitting! It's because of scrotes like you that children are afraid to approach a badge for assistance!
Mike IMHO you are one pathetic SOB.
mike-4186347 are you a GOP Republican TeaBagger?
'Cuz you sure sound like one w/the crazy fascism you espouse.
PS - I flagged your inflammatory redundant comment of no value
In 2005 I was assaulted by Manassas Police as we were returning from the hospital where my girlfriend was being treated for a reaction to medications. I was assaulted after I had submitted to the arrest by putting my hands behind my back. I heard the arresting officer yell he is resisting arrest and felt him jump back. I was tasered three times, body slammed, hit with the little stick, had my head held as these officers emptied a canister of pepper spray in my face and then nearly suffocated.
I wrote an outline of our event, identified that the CVS pharmacy had a store security video and expected the attorneys to review the video. They did not and no one has reviewed that 2005 video, one can only wonder at how many others those officers had abused, framed and convicted since that 2005 event. (http://home.comcast.net/~styx.cml-lsm/01/Cases/TheStyxBlog/BLOG_20090630.htm)
Excellent report on the 'Rewrite' TV show.
Go stick it to the TSA now.
What would Phil Rizzo do in this situation ?
Last week two police officers were charged with murder for beating a homeless man to death in glendale ca. The district attorney took about a month to come out with his charges on TV. There were witnesses to the unjust beating and lots of community protests against the Cheif of police and city counsel.Protesters asking for the cheif to step down and justice for Kelly Thomas.Maybe you could follow this story too and tell the country about it.
Lawrence O'Donnell you are a true American. Your reporting on excessive police force was right on. The country needs more men like you to stand up and call it as it is. My hat is off to you! Signed a Republican!
Some cops in America think they are above the law, above the citizen they have sworn to defend and protect. Their egos of power take over and they are no better than the SS of Germany. This can happen in New York or a small town. In a small town it is whispered around town and never reported and always covered up. Technology will help stop this injustice. This protest at Wall St. is way over do and I hope the crowds get larger! The bailout should have been given to all the people who had bank loans, not to the banks and firms on Wall St.
Just like Germany's SS, these cops need to be lined up and shot, every one of them.

Stop feeling sorry for yourselves and taking it out on "America's Police" . Those men and women in uniform are mothers and fathers putting up with the likes of you ungrateful, spoiled, whining lot, who will probably never know what it means to do an HONEST days work in your lives. I think of these hard working cops having to deal with you ungrateful, ignorant spoiled, bottom feeders. Instead of putting your pathetic, life-sucking, laziness on display for younger generations, go look for a job, learn how to treat fellow human beings and stop blaming the "America's Police", the NYPD and everyone else for your miserable incompetence.
Lawrence O'Donnell you are irresponsible.
Judy, you apparently forget that the role of the police is to "protect and serve." While I like to hope that most people try to act otherwise, it is not, in fact, illegal to be ungrateful, ignorant, and spoiled, pathetic, and lazy, and unemployed. It is the obligation of the police to serve us despite those flaws. Its a hard job, I'm sure.
I'm mystified as to how you can claim that Mr. O'Donnell is irresponsible for calling for an investigation into these disgusting lowlifes masquerade behind the badge and violate our civil rights. In fact, it's the most responsible thing I've seen in journalism in some time. It's the morally upright thing - to stand up for the rights of the weak against these morally bankrupt thugs.
Judy...
I wish they could have Barney Franks, Maxine Waters and the other Democrats that supported Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac when the regulators were trying to get them to do something about those companies tied to a few poles and everyone could have went by and had a chance to hit each one of them. Without their support for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Frank Raines, who made a killing in bonuses while these companies were going under this may never have happened. Of course the bleeding heart liberals would never consider any of their own as being the underlying reason for the problems we're having today. Obama received $1,000,000 from Goldman Sachs in campaign contributions. Never hear them mention that, will you?
Goldman Sachs kept White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel on a $3,000 monthly retainer while he worked as Clinton’s chief fundraiser, as first reported by Washington Examinercolumnist Tim Carney. The financial titans threw in another $50,000 to become the Clinton primary campaign’s top funder. Emanuel received nearly $80,000 in cash from Goldman Sachs during his four terms in Congress — investments that have reaped untold rewards, as Emanuel assumed a leading role championing the trillion-dollar TARP banking-bailout law. You wouldn't hear anything about that from the bleeding heart liberals, would you? Goldman Sachs was the 2nd largest contributor to Obama's campaign only being topped by the PAC and employees of the University of California, which donated more than $1.5 million, topped Goldman Sachs. 3 out of 4 dollars of Goldman Sachs donations went to Democrats in 2008. And you would think they could see through this corrupt administration, but they are just myrmidons and have no idea they are fools. The only problem is those fools are carrying us right down the drain with them to what they think is going to be utopia, but boy will the be surprised.
I disagree about liberals being selective...all the corruption you mentioned is part of the problem, no matter whose. And there is plenty to go around. Those donors matched if not exceeded their support for Republicans. They simply salt the tails of all the birds and it seems to work. This liberal is for REAL transparency, ending loop holes and the power of lobbyists. So are all liberals or we wouldn't be liberal. Standing for Loving, Intelligent, Bold, Enlightened, Realists, who are Active and Loyal Americans.
Judy-4186470 you wouldn't happen to be the wife (or split personality) of mike-4186347 would you?
You sound like those pseudo-patriotic, pseudo-Christian GOP Republican TeaBaggers who are always espousing fascism. For the love of God, get help for your clear "crazy".
I am STUNNED and so utterly disturbed by this video. Can O'Donnell or MSNBC give us a link of some sort to protest this brutality and obvious abuse of "power"? Where is Bloomberg on this? Thank you Lawrence O'Donnell for keeping us informed. My only hope is that this is mainstreamed so that those who don't listen to or watch MSNBC will have access to such atrocity.
