Hurricane Irene finally tapered out into Canada, now cities along the East Coast face epic flooding problems. The death toll climbed to at least 35 in 10 states, after a number of bodies were pulled from raging waters near overflowing rivers and washed out roads. Utility crews are working round the clock to restore power to nearly 5.5 million homes across the coast.
New York City and the DC metro-area escaped the brunt of the storm, and made for more rainy day fun than anything (See Times Square Slip-N-Slide). Though, the deluge of rain caused much greater destruction further inland, especially in areas like Vermont, Upstate New York and New Jersey.
Gawker posted this crazy video of a National Guard truck driving fully submerged underwater to make a rescue in Manville, New Jersey. It shows not only shows the bravery of the rescue teams, but also the lingering flood damage from Irene.

that would be called stupidity Rescuers needing to be rescued. They could have sent someone to measure how deep that water was. That other truck seemed to get through. If they had followed the same path they might have made it.
Do they have boats?
