Republican Presidential candidate Jon Huntsman took a swipe at fellow candidate Gov. Rick Perry over his controversial views on global warming and evolution.
Huntsman let the sarcasm fly by tweeting "To be clear. I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy."
At a campaign event yesterday, Perry (no relation to Last Word guest host Melissa Harris-Perry) expressed his doubts on global warming to a crowd of New Hampshire voters. He said scientists cook up "manipulated data” in order to try and get a bunch of "dollars rolling into their projects."
Today, Perry defend his anti-science stances to a kid, who questioned his beliefs at the not-so-subtle prompting of his mother on the trail.
"Evolution is a theory that's out there," Perry said, crouching down eye-level to the youngster. He bragged how teachers in Texas discuss both creationism and evolution "because I figured you're smart enough to figure out which one is right."

well Huntsman will soon be history. thou shalt not talk in vain of company policy.
There is something wrong with a person that despises science like Rick Perry and Bachman. If is as if they do not know the God they profess to worship and love. The whole Bible talks about God's Ways. He is all Science. All Wisdom.
They also seem to hate the poor instead of being grateful God has bless us with them. Without those whom we call poor, and lazy and not worthy, there would be no charity or kindness. "There is more joy in giving that there is in receiving". Without the poor, that statement will be untrue. What better way for a ruler to show his compassion and kindness than to be on the side of the poor.
The GOP is really playing footsies with God's ways and He "is not one to be mocked." "What ever a man is sowing, this he will also reap".
Science is only a way to reach an objective. God used it to bring us to where we are now as biological and spiritual beings. We must embrace science as one of the greatest gifts along with the poor.

Riiiggghhhttt.... perhaps if Texas wasn't 43rd out of 50 in HS Graduation rate, 45th in SAT scores, and 50th in percentage of population 25+ with a high school diploma, he'd be more credible.
Nothing against the teachers (I know it's a hard and thankless job), but when people like Perry make you teach crap like this, and not FACTS, it's hard to not churn out stupid people.
How do you teach creationism in a public school? Do the textbooks reference the Bible? Or is the Bible a textbook? Which version is the accepted textbook? What if you are a non-believer, do they force you to learn the Bible? How do they justify this with our constitution? Hasn't anybody sued the schools over this? Very curious...
HMMMM! Let's ask the teachers in Texas what they think about Perry and his ideas on creationism and evolution. My sources tell me they think he is an idiot! I just saying....
If you've seen his college transcript, you'd know the teachers' current assessment is fact-based.
It's only Perry ... don't worry!
The TX miracle is actually a smoke and mirror show. America was fooled once by a Texan, I hope we're smart enough to NOT be fooled again!
My guess is former Governor Huntsman was a long ways away from Planet Utah when he made that tweet. Outside of Salt Lake City, it wouldn't play well here, probably why he moved his campaign headquarters to Florida.
And Melissa, I loved that "Governor--no relation--Perry" disclaimer...
All the hate speech toward Pres. Obama is no different from the behavoir of a classic, school yard bully. Then they (repubs) have the lying audacity to use religion as there shield. They wouldnt begin to know how to recognize God(which is love) because if their thieving behinds did, they would recognize the God in pres.Obama; A bunch of hateful hypocrites teaching their children to hate too by the behavior they model. And these so called black tea party repubs are idiots to the second power, allowing themselves to be used and trotted out in front of cameras to represent the perfect illustration of an educated fool.
Rubs.,having demonstrated their allegiance to those hateful, racially-motivated pledges/pacts above their oath of office of congress, are unfit for service! This is unethical, immoral, and should be taken to court to establish precedence for new case law.
Well, I won't be voting for any GOP candidate. But all Huntsman did was prove wasn't a complete IDIOT like the rest of the GOP nutjobs. Perry and Bachmann and the rest are downright SCARY. Since day one, with the country run into the ground by the good ole Bush-Cheney boys, all the Republicans have done is question Obama's birth, his patriotism, and fight every sensible way to put the country back on a better pather...to me, that is treason.
Just say it: corporate entitlements. you know what I'm talking about. Corporate entitlements. Those are the entitlements that need to go.

Rick Perry despises it yet he was more then happy to put some of that scientific technology into his ailing back. I hold the Bagger/repubs and their candidates beneath contempt for being openly racist, untrustworthy, hypocritical about everything that really matters.
The least insane candidate they can produce is the Mormon?
The Baggers will not vote for him regardless or perhaps inspite of his intellect or faith. To the current base of the bagger/repub party both of these are a liability to his election changes.
mormons are people too?
Republicans are how I know there is no god; cause if there was a god and he saw what the gop was doing, he would kill them all (or he would owe Sodom and Gomorrah an apology)
Regarding global warming: Perry accuses the scientists of lying about the data in exchange for grant money. I wonder how much his views are influenced by oil company campaign donations.
Regarding evolution: He said they teach creationism, not even pretending it's "intelligent design".
Regarding Republicans anti-science: I don't hear many calls for Bible-based aircraft engineering. Or disbelief in how cell phones work. They only find fault with peer-reviewed, reproducible results they don't like. But -- as Reagan said -- "facts are stubborn things".
Too bad this guy is polling badly behind the crazies and Mr. Corporations are people too my friend. I don't understand why this guy is even bothering to run as a Republican in 2012. Doesn't he recognize that his own party doesn't want him? Smart, multilingual, has lived abroad, believes in science, Mormon, in favor of civil unions for gays, does not hate the President etc. etc. the list goes on and on!
Its almost like they dont want to win they put the craziest one in the top of the race and the most scariest I can just imagine the hell we are going to go through with Perry,Bachmann or Romney they all seem like they are on a pass from the assylum and like they are attracting the crazies to support them Read some of the comments on the MSNBC News Articles one line zings on every person who doesnt support the Republican party kind of like the actual candidates
