House Democrats reminded the GOP of the importance of raising the debt ceiling — in the words of President Ronald Reagan. He's the president Republicans love to quote, particularly when it comes to economic policy.
Today, Nancy Pelosi tweeted, "If House GOP won't listen to economists, perhaps they'll listen to President Reagan."
A newly released video offers remarks he gave in a radio address on September 26, 1987. Reagan discussed the severity of the U.S. meeting its financial obligations to avoid defaulting on loans. Text on screen pops ups reading, "That's an adult moment."
The tone seems to be shifting in debt negotiations to be more positive. In a press conference today, President Obama applauded the bipartisan group of senators, the so-called Gang of Six, for coming with new deficit reduction plan "broadly consistent" with his goals. He urged lawmakers to use it as a blueprint to work off of before the August 2 debt limit deadline.

This guy beat the golden standard of politics in the Democratic Party when no one gave him a chance; he beat the golden standard in the Repugs when he beat a war hero and, he won a Nobel prize when no one expected, he got Osama bin Laden—not to mention that he graduated magna cum laude. How much more do you need to feel reassured safe in his hands? Show me anyone in that room who has equal credentials…

the reason i point this out is that you use the word "gay" as a slur. the democrats fight for civil rights for gays and lesbians. unlike the republican party and the baggers who try to take civil rights from those from whom they use to get their sexual pleasure.
This is an appeal to the sane Republicans who hopefully can put party and politics aside and do what is right for the country as a whole. And hopefully it will also help them get a backbone strong enough to tell the baggerloons to go find their own crazy loon tent cause there has no more room in this one for inflexible ideologues who have already obligated their allegiance with purity pledges and who care less then a damn about the American people.

i am going to try to explain this to you. the democrats have already put all of their "sacred cows" on the table. the republicans are the ones that are holding this up, by not putting their one "sacred cow" on the table to help bring down the deficit.
the debt ceiling needs to be raised to pay for bills that have incurred in the past by BOTH parties. and if you look at our history, you will see that the republicans are the great deficit builders, and the democrats are the ones who have balanced the budget.
the republicans are the ones responsible for this deficit. and now they don't want to help fix it, they want to blame it all on President Obama, not raise the debt ceiling, and let the chips fall where they may for the american people.

Another fact, President Barack Obama has cut more out of the federal budget than any President in recent history. Another fact, the bills that are due and payable which is forcing the need to raise the debt limit is all the Republicans' bills under George Bush - you know, Medicare Part D that the Republicans passed in the middle of the night behind Democrats' backs, the two wars started by George Bush, the Bush tax cuts, and the bailout of Wall Street. The debt ceiling must be raised in order to pay the Republicans' bills. President Obama, for every dollar that he has spent, has cut one dollar from the budget. President Obama has cut 905 billion in federal spending since he took office, and he has spent 884 billion. So all you Republicans are liars and not the other way around. How sad for you Republicans that you only have lies on your side, while we Democrats have the truth, and that this country has a President who actually gives a damn, while Republicans only cater and supplicate to Grover Nordquist and the rich and sell the rest of us out and then give their constituents only lies and expect and believe that this is acceptable. Any Republican constituent out there who believes the swill you are being fed every day by your party are doing a disservice to yourselves and to this country while your party is playing dangerous political games on your dime and on your time.
