Statement issued today by News Corp Chairman Rupert Murdoch
Another News Corp exec bit the dust today over the U.K. hacking scandal. Les Hinton, the CEO of Dow Jones & Co., resigned, saying in a statement it was the right thing to do. He said was "ignorant of what apparently happened" but apologized for the hurt caused by the actions News of the World staffers.
Just earlier in the day, Rebekah Brooks, CEO of News International, formally announced her resignation. Likewise, she said sorry in a statement to "reiterate how sorry I am for what we now know to have taken place.”
Chairman of News Corp, Rupert Murdoch himself put it in big bold letters and met with the parents of the murdered teen who’s phone was hacked by News of The World paper, and may have interfered with the police investigation in her disappearance.
It’s still unclear just how widespread the legal ramifications could be. Yesterday, the FBI opened an investigation into allegations News Corp. tried to hack into the phones of 9/11 victims.

bravo thrice and once again for Lawrence tonight on MSNBC it is a joy to be
able to be part of the Last Word each night---and tonight's chiding of noisey
Liberals was fine---this old Liberal understands---Obama has won, and the
Republicans have become the fools they resembled all summmer. Now on
to the election and the campaign which was opened for real with this pathetic
last month of debt-limit fights: bravo Obama===now to get rid of the upper bracket
tax breaks in a vigorous campaign---the tax breaks are the only real issue for
anyone. James McCormick
I want to see the FCC pull Fox's operating license because of the bribery, hacking and burglary associated with the owner.
Test pattern on Fox by August.
Test pattern on Fox by August.
Test pattern on Fox by August.
Keep it going.
Once Fox is off the air, the budget bill will get signed.
Where will the baggers get their world view and fake outrage topics of the week if Fox News goes away? I don't think it will, but theoretically at least now that they're in such much trouble, I wonder what would happen to those who swear by Fox News and get all their information from it..
News Corpse
Sic semper tyrannis
I believe that's Latin for "kick the bastard while he's down"
culheath - are you protesting the people who are calling out Murdoch for allowing and encouraging the lack of ethics ? Do you know anything at all about Roger Ailes who is a top Murdoch employee ? He is on the level of Karl Rove. People hire those most like themselves. Murdoch is an evil man who has finally met his due. I hope he loses everything but know he won't. He knows where the bodies are buried.
not at all...I despise the bastard.
Sorry just does not cut it! The "Wall of Jericho," has just come tumbling down!
There should be an, International Law Suit against Murdoch and his family of liars.
They and those involved around the world, are guilty as sin.
If I was the parent of that young murdered girl, or 9/11 family member; that would be a no brainer, to take them to the highest court's around the WORLD!
who is going to stand up and tell it like it is rupert murdoch is the poster boy of the
right, watergate repeat over and over
Dear Lawrence O'Donnell"
You really believe that Murdoch wont hire a trained assasssin to snuff out Kerik? Come on Lawrence…when you’re the billionaire CEO of the most powerful media network on the planet and that network is closely aligned with the most powerful and wealthy people on the planet?
Let’s just say I’d like to make some book on this. Vegas odds, baby.
My money says the former police chief will be found mysteriously hanging in his cell previous to the week is out, and it will be ruled “a suicide” and the whole case will be papered over.
Republicans have cultured a lot in the years in view of the fact that JFK, Watergate and 9/11. They’ve learned how to commit enormous capital crimes and get away with it. They’ve also learned there isn’t a damn business the American people can do about it.
And the assassin? Kerik is in a prison some fifty miles outside DC.
He could do the job and be home for dinner in Bethesda.
